Writer's Pov
Edna had the lady got to the hospital, Edna couldn't hold in the tears when she finally saw the little girl. She looked tired already, it was clear that her eyes were tired and sad.
"Mommy, where is daddy?" The little girl asked. Her mum became speechless. "He promised to be here but he still doesn't want to see me?" Edna was shocked to hear what the little girl was saying. Does it mean her dad refused to come see her when she's in such a condition.
Edna was angry and irritated that such a man still exists. The young last could've say anything to her daughter she was just trying to stop herself for crying so that her daughter will not feel bad.
"Can I talk to you for a moment?" Edna said to the Lady and they both walked out of the ward.
"What is going on with her dad? He is not with you?" Edna asked.
"We separated after I had her, we just couldn't tolerate each other anymore." Edna could relate because she's also in a marriage she can't even stand her husband because of how much he annoys her.
"Is he aware she's at the verge of death?"Edna asked curiously.
The lady covered her mouth with her hand and nodded her head as tears rushed down her eyes uncontrollably. In all of it the last was going through the most. She's about to lose her only child and the man she was married to doesn't care about the baby.
"It's okay." Edna said to her trying to calm her down.
"I don't know why he hates me so much, all my life I have been doing everything to please him but he never appreciated it until we finally went our separate ways, even though he doesn't even care about our baby." I couldn't imagine myself in her position.
I couldn't think of any way to help her, the little girl seemed really excited about meeting her dad and now he's not here and has refused to show up.
"Can I have his number?" Edna said to the woman as an idea crossed her mind. Without wasting time the young lady gave Edna his number.
Edna went towards the reception and placed a call across to him.
"Who is this?" Edna's heart skipped a beat the moment she heard his voice, she could tell he was high from the way he sounded.
"Hello, I'm Edna." Edna replied to him, though she knew that was not enough to make him listen to her judging from the kind of person he is.
"How can I help you Edna?" The man asked. He sounded calm the second time.
"I'm at the hospital with your daughter, who is on the verge of death." Edna thought of saying it plainly so see the man's reaction when he hears her.
"Please if you have nothing to say I'll hang up." He said to Edna and was about to end the call.
"I want to pay you." The man felt better to hear the last statement.
"Now that's a good reason why you need to call." The man said. Edna was very upset, she couldn't believe that such men are still working around alive. He cares about his money more than his child.
"What do you want me to do, and how much do you want to pay me?" The man a shed. Edna was so irritated to hear what the man was saying to her. She couldn't believe her ears.
"I want you to come to the hospital and see your daughter, you must be happy and make everything look real with her. Edna said to the young man.
He was not having any issue with the job as long as he's getting paid for it.
They both agreed on the amount and he agreed to do the job.
Edna went back to the water and watched the mother and daughter's beautiful moment. She couldn't imagine what the woman would do when the girl leaves her.
While she was watching them, she heard her phone ring. She didn't bother to check the caller; she just switched off her phone.
She walked to the chair and sat down, she didn't want to interrupt their moment until the woman signaled her to come in.
She walked into the ward and the girl turned to look at her. She couldn't say anything to her earlier because she was more concerned about seeing her dad.
"She came all the way here to see you because she loved your song." The girl let out a faint smile. She was so weak but she still had a cute smile. Edna was struggling not to cry.
"Hello Alicia, want to see something?"Edna asked her. The girl nodded her head and immediately Edna turned on her phone and showed her a video of herself while she was singing.
Her tired smile was so cute. "Do people like it?" The girl asked excitedly. From the way she sounded Edna could tell she really wanted to become a celebrity, someone the world would remember.
"They love it," Edna read the comments to her and she couldn't stop laughing while listening to Edna. She looked fulfilled.
At one point she couldn't laugh anymore.
"I'm tired mom." The little girl said to her mom and just in time her dad arrived. Edna gave him a disgusted look and walked out of the ward.
It was the girl's first time meeting her dad in person. She was the happiest in the world.
"Why are you just coming dad, I have been waiting for you." The little girl said to her dad. Her dad was sloshed to see her state, for a moment maybe he thought it was a lie.
They had a very cute dad and daughter moment while her mom walked out and sat beside me. I held her hand trying to console her.
"She is so happy." The lady said to Edna and let out a faint smile. Edna smiled back and caressed her hand.
"She wouldn't have forgiven him if he didn't show up." The little girl's mom nodded her head in agreement to what Edna said.
They both sat outside the ward and waited for the girl and her dad to be some with their cute moment.
Edna couldn't believe what was going on, she is in a far away place with strangers and she suddenly feels more connected to them. She realized humans are very soft and sweet.
All her life eyes been around werewolves and her first-time visiting the human world it's very refreshing.
Edna heard her phone ring again and she turned it off. She was not ready to receive any call that'll ruin her good even more.
"Alicia!" Her dad screamed at the top of his voice. Her mother's heart stopped for a moment. Edna's heart skipped. They knew it had already happened.
They were prepared for the moment but suddenly they realized they were not. Edna covered her mouth with her hand and tears walked down. The nurses went in and tried everything but unfortunately nothing could be done.
The were about to cover the girl's face when her
mother stopped the nurses. "I want to awe her face one last time." The last said to them and looked at her daughter's face. She could recollect all the happy moments they've shared together, their sad moments together and how they were glued. They literally call themselves best friends.
She had Alicia when she was just sixteen so they lived more like sisters than mother had daughter.
"I love you so much my Lily." Her mother said to her and finally covered her face.
She watched them take Alicia's body away. It was such a sad scene to watch. Edna didn't know how to console Alicia's mother because it's a child loss not something that can easily be erased.
Edna sighted Alicia's dad at the other side of the ward. He looked too sad for all the confidence he had while she was on the phone with him.
"Why are you sulking over here, your daughter is about to die and you have nothing to say, all you care about is the money. Well thanks for coming, and send me the details let me pay you." Edna said to him and was about to walk away.
"I don't want your money." He said to her.
Edna headed back to her house. She still couldn't believe what she just saw. It is a moment she might never forget in a while
She recollected the place she saw the little girl singing that morning. She was so cute with a lovely voice only to end like that.
It was already dark when Edna's phone was turned off. Fear gripped her as she saw how narrow and cold the road was.
"How do I get back home?" Edna asked herself, feeling scared.
