CHAPTER 54

  Edna pov

After a while I woke up, then I realized the whole time I was resting my head on Alpha Darrell. I closed my eyes immediately, I was too shy to raise my head after realizing that my head was on his shoulder.

Then his phone suddenly rang, I used that opportunity to raise my head. "Oh my goodness, how did I fall asleep?" I muttered and cleaned my face with my hand.

"Do you want to stop the car and move your legs a little?" Alpha Darrel asked and I nodded my head. Immediately the car stopped.

I stepped out of the car and took a little walk around while Alpha Darrel was on the phone. Thinking about going back home was making me feel sick, I really don't want to see Amber looking hurt, I know she tries to hide it a lot but deep down she's a softie, and aunt Erica.

The way she missed her brother's birthday just to be with her mom made me realize she might love her mom more than she shows it.

Meeting all of them again In this state made me think a lot.

After a little while it was time to get back into the car. After getting in the car started and we continued our journey. It would take just one hour before we arrived at the pack.

My hands become sweaty and my heart started beating fast, I still can't believe grandma is gone.

  *******

We finally arrived at the pack and the first person I saw was Amber, she looked really unhappy until she sighted me.

"Edna," She screamed my name excitedly and ran towards me. I was very happy to see her again.

"Why are you just coming?" Amber asked me with her hands folded across her chest. I didn't know what to tell her because I had no excuse for coming late. She turned to look at Alpha Darrel and I could already tell what she was going to do.

"I know you are the one that made her return late." She said to Alpha Darrell, he looked shocked to hear what Amber said.

"Really? Why do you think so? Do I look like the bad guy to you?" He said to her in a childish way and a smile on his face.

"It's never written on the face." She replied to him and turned around. Alpha Darrel and I turned to look at each other after hearing what she said.

"How's she so smart at this age?" He asked me and I let out a huge grin. And we both walked into the house.

When I walked inside the house, I met everyone in the sitting room and I suddenly found myself feeling like I wasn't a member of the family.

"Edna." Aunt Erica called my name the moment she sighted me. She walked closer to me and gave me a warm hug.

"I'm sorry for coming late." I apologized and she took me to the sitting room where others were seated. I looked around and Aaron was nowhere to be found.

"Are you okay?" Aaron's mom asked. I nodded my head and let out a faint smile. While I was seated my uncle handed me a glass of water.

The way they treated me got me really surprised. They were behaving like they always treat me this way.

"Grandma doted on you so much, I know you will be very devastated when you heard about her death." My uncle said to me ahd sat down.

"I was shocked to hear she passed away sooner than the doctor said." I replied to him ahd took a sip of the water, I was about to drop the water when Aaron's mom collected it from me.

I left my mouth open when I saw her gesture and I turned to look at Alpha Darrel who also looked shocked to see how they were treating me.

After a while everyone went back to what they were doing and my dad was still nowhere to be found. I stood up from the sitting room and took a walk around the house, I felt like I was finally back to my peace of mind.

I paused when I got to the swimming pool area then I remembered how Amber and I will play in the pool and grandma will watch us looking happy.

"Edna." I heard a voice call my name. I immediately cleaned my tears and turned around.

"Dad." I walked towards him and hugged him. I can't believe I was acting like a child after seeing my dad.

"What are you doing here all by yourself." Dad asked. I was trying not to let it show that I was crying earlier.

"Nothing, I was just taking a walk around the house, there are certain things I missed." I said to him,

"Am I one of them?" He asked and I chuckled. I know dad was trying to make me feel better which is why he was asking all those questions.

"Of course." I replied to him and we both walked back to the sitting room.

"Why didn't you tell me Darrel came with you?" My das asked when he sighted Alpha Darrel in the sitting room. I also forgot I didn't come alone.

My dad walked closer to him and immediately Alpha Darrel stood up. "Good day Alpha Baron." Alpha Darrel greeted with a bright smile on his face. Dad looked really happy to meet him, with his presence dad would feel we were living a harmonious life filled with lots of love. I just had to make him think that way so that he would have nothing to worry about.

"Welcome to the pack, how many days will you two be staying?" Dad asked.

"Three days, you know he has to go back to work and the pack too." I explained to dad.

"Are you still not working?" Dad asked me and I suddenly went mute, I didn't know what to tell him when I heard the question he asked.

"I don't think I'm ready yet." I replied dad and turned to look at Alpha Darrell.

Getting to the pack I got to realize that I was going through so much that I can't even talk about living with Alpha Darrel. The way I have been telling lies to make my marriage look good made me feel sick.

"Have you been shown your room?" Dad asked.

Immediately the maids walked closer to us and helped us take the box to my room.

When I got into the room I looked around and nothing changed, they kept the room the way I left it. "Is this your room?" Alpha Darrel asked. I nodded my head and walked into the toilet.

When I got to the toilet, I turned on the tap and breathed out. I felt like everything going on here was fake, from the marriage to the fake love from my uncle and aunts, at this point I just want to be alone.

I sat down and heaved a sigh. Suddenly I heard a knock on the door. "Are you okay?" Alpha Darrel asked after knocking.

I turned off the tap so that he could stop asking. I couldn't tell if his sudden softness was real or fake, because everyone around seemed to be acting differently from normal.

"Can they all just disappear?" I said tiredly and placed my hand on my head and sighed.

I decided to walk out of the toilet and when I got to the room Alpha Darrel was on a home call. From his facial expression I could already tell it was his mom on the phone. She was probably telling him to return home immediately.

I acted like I didn't see anything and headed to the bathroom for a shower, when I was done I walked out of the bathroom and picked a dress to wear.

It really felt like I was back home while I was dressing up. Alpha Darrel was done with his phone call and headed into the bathroom. While he was in the bathroom I decided to arrange my stuff in the wardrobe so it can be easier to change my dress.

After arranging my clothes inside the wardrobe I walked out of the room and the moment I got downstairs the first person I saw was Aaron.

I walked closer to him and without greeting each other Aaron hugged me. I opened my eyes wider than normal.

"Though you won't come home, I was getting sick of everyone here." He muttered while he was still hugging me. I was mute and shocked, I still couldn't comprehend what was going on. We only spoke on the phone a few times and here he is hugging me like we've had this unbreakable bond for a long time.

Were we close to this level? I kept asking myself the same question, still feeling speechless.
