Alpha Darrel pov
By the time I got out of the bathroom Edna was no longer there, I was already dressed from the bathroom so I walked out of the room so I could chase after her and ask her the question I wanted to ask.
When I got to the stairs I saw Edna hugging someone, he looked young but not so young. Maybe they were the same age. I folded my hand angrily while looking at both of them.
"Who is he?" I asked myself.
"Why are you standing here?" I lowered my head and sighted Amber. I didn't want to let her know that I was bothered by the way Edna and the strange guy were hugging.
"Nothing, I was lost in thought." I replied to her and let out a faint smile.
"Liar." I opened my eyes wider than normal and turned to look at her. I can't believe she just called me the right name like she knew I was really lying to her.
"Why would you call someone older than you a liar?" I asked her, trying to let her know she was wrong.
"Because you just lied to me, look at them hugging and you are here, obviously you're jealous." Amber said to me and walked away, all of a sudden she stopped and turned back to look at me. "For clarity he's our cousin," she said and walked away.
I was still in shock, I can't believe such a little girl caught me and I couldn't even defend myself anymore. "How can she be so smart?" I asked myself and suddenly remembered Edna and her cousin were still hugging.
I walked down the stairs and my eyes met with his, so I could already tell from the look he gave me that he doesn't like me.
"Edna." I called her name and immediately she released herself from the young boy's grip.
"Hey," She said to me and let out a faint smile, it felt like I caught my wife cheating on me.
"I was looking for my palm cream, but I couldn't find it in my box." I said to her and turned to look at the young boy. We couldn't stop glaring at each other. I already saw him as my opp and I can't try to be friendly with him.
"Ohh, I kept it in the wardrobe, I'll get it for you." Edna replied. I was surprised she replied in a very calm way, I could tell she was doing everything to keep a good marital record in her family house.
"This is Aaron, my cousin." She introduced him to me. Aaron and I stared at each other for a while and no one was ready to stretch their hand first. Edna excused herself from the sitting room when she saw how we were gunning at each other through our eyes.
"Alpha Darrell?" Aaron asked and finally stretched his hand to greet me properly. I stared at his hand for a while before bringing out mine, and the moment I stretched my hand he put his own back in his pocket.
It's been a while since I felt this way. Now I know he's really an enemy.
"How did you not see it in the wardrobe, the exact place you brought your pants from." Edna said to me and handed the cream to me. I let out a soft smile and collected it from her. I was about to leave when I remembered Edna would sit with Aaron and have a conversation the moment I left.
"Do you think the maids will be able to prepare something, remember we didn't eat breakfast, or rather should we go out for brunch." I proposed with a bright smile on my face. Edna looked shocked to hear what I said. I know she must be curious to know why I was suddenly acting like we have a very good relationship.
"Uhmmm, going out is a better option because remember we're mourning." Edna said to me and I was happy with what she said. Then she suddenly turned to look at Aaron.
"Oh no please don't ask him." I said to myself when she turned to look at Aaron.
"Would you like to join us?" She asked him. I couldn't believe what I just heard. She didn't even think about how I would feel and if I wanted him to join us.
"No, it's fine," Aaron said to her and I felt relieved.
"He must have had breakfast already." I added, sounding really excited.
"I mean… three is not a crowd right?" Aaron asked. I looked at him angrily when I heard what he said. I can't believe he changed his mind because he heard what I said.
"I'll join too." The little witch said as she joined us in the sitting room. Edna was the only one excited about it, but maybe Amber joining was better than just Aaron and us.
I headed upstairs and changed into something comfortable. We were all dressed and ready to leave.
While we were in the car there was a total silence, everyone was quiet.
"Are we also mourning in the car?" Amber asked. I turned to look at her and shook my head. Then we both started talking, from both of us talking Amber found her way to add Edna to the conversation and suddenly we started arguing about the best game players.
"When I was in the state, I used to win championships." I said to Aaron who was making himself feel special because he just returned from the states.
"You can't beat me." He said, trying to call for a challenge. I didn't know how good I am anymore, that's why I was trying not to push myself to that level, but Aaron was bent on starting the challenge.
"Let's settle it by playing the game." Amber said and Aaron agreed immediately. I wasn't so confident about playing because it's been a while since I returned and I never tried playing it.
"Looks like someone is having a rethink." Aaron said. I turned to look at him and cleared my throat.
"Let's see who the champion is." I said and hit my lips.
"Who's standing with me?" Aaron asked. I can't believe he's taking this very seriously.
"Do you have to add that?" I asked him.
"Are you scared no one will choose you?" Aaron asked me already feeling like the champion, though I can't blame him, he returned only a few months ago.
"I'm with Alpha Darrel." I turned to look at her, I was shocked she chose me, I thought she would choose Aaron.
"That's my girl." I said to Amber excitedly. Then I turned to look at Edna waiting to hear whose side she will be on.
"Aaron," I knew she was going to pick him so I wasn't expecting her to pick me.
"Let's do this." Amber said to me excitedly, I let out a huge grin.
When we finally arrived at the game place, I could feel my belly rumbling not because I was hungry but because I was nervous about the game.
We all headed inside and paid before going to our spot. I sat down and turned to look at Edna. I knew that I had no other option but to win so she could regret not choosing me.
We started the first round and I got the best hype person. She kept boosting my morale with her lovely hype.
We lost the first round but she didn't give up on me. Seeing how Edna jumped excitedly when Aaron won made me even more eager to win and luckily I won't the second time.
I turned to look at Aaron before the last game that would crown the champion. I could tell he was ready to do whatever it takes to win the game from the way he looked at me.
"You got this Alpha Darrell." Amber said to me. I was waiting to hear what Edna would say to him.
"I believe in you." Those were Edna's words to Aaron.
I felt hurt to hear about her such sweet work to someone that is not her husband, so I told myself that I must win no matter what it takes.
We started the last round and this time we played with everything in us because we both had our different targets and different reasons to win the game. While we were playing the game I remembered how excited Edna was when Aaron won the game, now it's my turn and I have to win no matter what.
We were half way in the game and it already looked like Aaron would win, Amber decided to stop shouting because it was an important bivouac loss for me. I decided to continue playing and all of a sudden Aaron started making mistakes that were in my favor. Amber smile slowly returned to her face as there was a chance that I would win the game.
The last shot was by me. And that was how I won.
"Now you know you can never beat me." I said to Aaron feeling like a star already, I said that to him not because of the fake but for another obvious reason.
