Nathan
I watched Xavier panic as he walked out of the healers dorm. He had gone through a lot of bad things in his life and loosing his mate the second time would be devastating.
I really wished that he would be able to find the antidote before it was too late. J would have followed him except that I had stay back to watch Valerie. Some stubborn pack members might want to take advantage of the situation to hurt her.
I watched him hop into one of the convertibles and drive off. Just as he drove off, I saw another car drive in. The car halted right before me and the front door opened, a lady stepping out of it. She sighed and took a long look at the building.
I could smell her human blood.
“Who are you?” I asked and she faced me.
“Hello?” She smiled and waved at me, “I’m at the Moon Edge Pack right?” She asked and I nodded in affirmation.
“Yes, what do you want?” I was really curious as to why a human could be here. It wasn’t like she lost her way. Was she a government official sent to inspect the pack or deliver a message?
“Actually, I’m here to get my friend, Valerie.” She smiled, “pardon me, but she’s a vampire.”

“How did you find this place?” I asked as I walked the lady through the building.
“Hmnnnn....let’s just say I have my way of getting what I want,” she replied, waving and smiling at anyone we came across. Many had a positive curiosity and a few didn’t care. Werewolves had no problem whatsoever with humans.
“I’m Jenna by the way.” She introduced herself and I nodded. I saw her glaring at me and I quickly realized her expectation.
“I’m Nathan, the Beta of this pack.” I said and she looked impressed.
“Are you taking me to Valerie. You still haven’t told me if she’s here or not.” Jenna now looked serious. Fake serious.
“She’s here, but sadly, she’s not in a good condition.” I replied and watched Jenna’s expression morph into a despaired one. She hadn’t even heard what happened..
“What happened to her?” She asked.
“She was poisoned.” Jenna gasped .
I opened the door to the healers dorm and walked in, Jenna following behind. She gasped and covered her mouth as she saw Valerie lying unconsciously on the bed. Xavier’s face was abnormally pale and in sharp contrast to the dark color of the skin around her eyes. She looked diseased.
“Xavier has gone on a search for antidote. Hopefully he can get it before the next 48 hours.” I said and she faced me.
“Alpha Xavier?” She asked and I gave an affirmative nod. She really did her research.
“Why did he release her from the Ripper detention facility?” She asked. I thought that facility was supposed to be hidden from the public.
“She’s his mate.” I said and Jenna widened her eyes in surprise. Her expression said, ‘Wow.”
She faced Valerie again and grabbed her hand, squeezing it tight.
“You’re a strong woman. I know that.” She muttered softly and let go of Valerie’s hand. She turned around suddenly and that sad expression she had only a few seconds ago disappeared completely.
“I guess I’ll be staying longer than I thought,” she said and grabbed her handbag, “I expect that a mansion as big as this would have a guest room, Hungh?” I gave an affirmative nod and gestured to her to follow me.

There was an empty room directly opposite my own room and I opened the door for her. The room was large, but was really dusty.
“I’ll have the cleaners have this room cleaned.” I said as I noticed the disgusted look on Jenna’s face.
“Better. What of clothes,” she said and I rolled my eyes, sighing loudly.
“You can get clothes from Valerie’s room. There are a lot of them.” I assured her and she walked into the room. I immediately created a telepathic mind link with a maid and gave her necessary instructions.
“If you need anything, my room is just right in front.” I said and walked out of the room. I walked back to the healers dorm. I walked towards Alex who was lying on a bed at the corner of the dorm.
He sensed my presence and he groaned as he sat up on the bed. The left half of his face was terribly scarred and there were lots of stitches and injuries on his body.
“Nathan.” He called my name and I nodded at him.
“How are you feeling?” I asked and sat on a small table beside his bed.
“I’m feeling better,” he replied and smiled. The smile didn’t look any good because of the scar, but of course, I couldn’t say that. At least, he was lucky to have been the only one to survive the vampire ambush.
“Good.” I muttered.
“I know my instincts are all messed up right now, but I’m certain of the vampire smell I’ve been picking up since this morning.” He said and I swallowed nervously. How could I tell him that a member of the race that put him in this condition was lying only a few metres away from him. How could I also lie to him.
“Your instincts are not wrong,” I said, “there’s a vampire in the dorm. She was poisoned.” I continued and I saw Alex’ expression toughen. His scar gave him a monstrous look.
“What the heck is a vampire doing here and why is she receiving treatment?!” He yelled and groaned as he stressed himself.
“Alex, she is Xavier’s mate. That vampire is Xavier’s mate!” I yelled and Alex’s expression softened.
“Oh.” He muttered softly and I nodded.
I walked back to my room to have my bath and eat something. I’ve been all over the place since the morning and haven’t gotten time to settle down. From the poisoned wolves to Valerie falling sick and Xavier leaving to Jenna arriving and then visiting Alex.
As soon as I got into my room, I took of my clothes and walked into the bathroom where I took a long bath. I walked out of the bathroom some minutes later, drying my body with a towel. I threw the towel on my bed and that was when the door suddenly opened.
Jenna walked in suddenly and she gasped as she saw me naked. I expected her to close her eyes, apologize and quickly turn around, but she stared at me in the most awkward way and place.
“Wow. Pure perfection.” She said. Who is she? I quickly grabbed my towel and wrapped it around my self before walking towards her.
“What do you want?” I asked and she kept staring at my torso for a while before replying.
“You asked me to get clothes from Valerie’s room, but you didn’t exactly tell me where her room is.” She said and I sighed.
“Fine. Let me get dressed, I’ll come meet you.” I opened the door and dragged her out, before slamming the door shut.
Ah God!
