Chapter 12

  – Xavier

Large arched brass doors opened slowly and I walked into the mansion of the Blue Moon Pack. Within a day, I had visited several packs in Washington, but none of them had any idea of the poison used on Valerie or the antidote to use.

As Alpha King of Washington, I had free access to any pack and could give commands, but now I was no longer in my power territory. I was in a pack in California and worse, the Alpha was a rival friend. One who would gladly love to have me owe him.

“The moon goddess curse my eyes if it isn’t my old friend and Alpha King of Washington, Alpha Xavier,” I saw Alpha Clyde approach with a wide smile and his ever dazzling gold robe shining just like the rings and chains he wore. Clyde was powerful and strong, but was too sophisticated and fashion conscious for an Alpha.

“What brings you here?” He asked, and received my hand for an handshake.

“I need your help,” I swallowed nervously and Clyde was grinning widely.

“Wow. That hit me by surprise, the all mighty Alpha Xavier apologizing? Must be a dream,” Clyde chuckled and I gritted my teeth in anger. I couldn’t react.

“I really do need your help,” I repeated and Clyde stared in curiousity.

  “What is it?” He asked.

“Someone was poisoned and I need an antidote quickly,” I said and Clyde burst into laughter. He must think this is a joke. That jerk. Jerk

“Poisoned? I can’t help but wonder who and how special the person is that even the Alpha King of Washington himself can plead so shamelessly,” Clyde said and I clenched my fists subconsciously.

“It’s my Mate.” I surrendered and Clyde suddenly looked interested.

“Yes, I heard rumors that you got another Mate, but she is a Vampire and you let her stay in your pack,” Clyde said and immediately seemed enraged, “I can’t help you.” Clyde turned around to leave.

  “But Clyde….”

“I’m sorry, but I can’t help you. I can’t stand seeing how weak you have become. That Vampire has made you weak,” Clyde interrupted me without looking back.

“It’s not a crime to love my Mate and I’m not weak!” I yelled loudly and growled. Clyde suddenly stopped walking and turned around, “then prove it.”

“Still fits so perfectly,” Clyde adjusted an armor on my body with a cocky grin that made me want to punch him. SO HARD.

“Couldn’t bring myself to dispose of this legendary antique.” Clyde was taking about the Armor. It was the special Armor I wore while in Blue Moon Pack. I and Clyde were good friends then and at that time, Clyde’s father was the Alpha. When it was time to pick a new Alpha, Clyde was picked even though it was obvious I was better than he was.

Clyde soon became Alpha King of California due to his father’s influence and I couldn’t stand serving under him. Clyde was too rash and quick to act for an Alpha. I moved to Washington to start my own pack and six months later, two months after humans discovering our existence, I was appointed Alpha King.

“You left without saying a word,” Clyde said and I noticed the pain that flashed through his eyes even though it lasted a split second, “well, proof to me you’ve not become weak and I will help you.” Clyde smirked.

Jerk. He would really humiliate me by having me fight a member of his pack.

The arched door at the end of the room opened and a huge man stepped in holding a large battle axe. The rule was not to use our Werewolf abilities since it would activate my Alpha Order and I would win.

I looked at the sword in my hand and as my opponent charged at me with his battle axe, I  raised up my shield to block the impact. Still, I felt his strength weigh against me and I struggled to keep my balance. He used that opportunity to kick me in the chest and I went flying across the room, landing on my chest.

I felt like my organs had been smashed and I groaned in pain. My wolf growled loudly in anger, but the silver armor prevented it from taking control. I looked up to see my opponent charge at me again and at the last moment, I rolled away and slashed backwards at his leg with my sword.

He shrieked in pain and lost his balance, falling to the floor. I did a quick flip and landed on him with my sword pointed at his throat. I won.

I looked sideways to see Clyde clapping and he walked forward to give me a hand up.

“The antidote.” I said as soon as I got on my feet. Clyde stared blankly at me for a while before speaking up.

“Oh yes, about that, I don’t have an antidote for the poison.” Clyde turned around and began to walk way.

“What?!” I yelled in rage, “you said you would help if I win the duel.” I restrained myself from acting rashly.

“Yes, I said I would help. I didn’t say I had the antidote,” Clyde turned around with a smug smile.  How dare he?!

“But I know where you can find the antidote.” Clyde smiled and continued walking away.

“Then why the heck did you waste my time by making me duel with your man?” I asked in anger.

“As I said, I needed to make sure you weren’t weak and my father’s efforts on you didn’t go to waste. Plus, it was fun watching you fight after such a long time.” Clyde said with a smirk.

“My men will give you the necessary details of where to go,” Clyde opened the door to leave and then briefly turned around, “and when you’re going, leave the armor, it’s for loyal members of the Blue Moon Pack.” He walked out.

  Asshole
