Chapter 15

  Nathan.

I took quicker steps to the Healer’s Dorm and as I got in, I saw spots blood spots on the floor. Scared, I walked faster into the Dorm and suddenly stopped walking as I spotted Raphael lying on the floor.

“Raphael.” I quickly bent down and I checked if he was okay. I sighed as I heard his heart beating and he only had a claw scratch on his chest. He was just unconscious. I immediately stood up and walked to Valerie’s bed.

I gasped as I saw the bed empty and I looked around in worry.

  Where was she?

  Where the hell was she?

I quickly ran across the dorm, my eyes scanning through all the beds, but Valerie wasn’t anywhere to be found.

I stopped running and dug my fingers into my hair.

  Wait. There was something else.

I walked back and looked at Alex’s bed. It was empty.

No. No. No. No. Please don’t let it be what I’m thinking.

I ran towards the entrance and was around to runout, before I stopped. I glanced at Raphael lying unconsciously on the floor and carried him up, placing him on an empty bed. He would wake up soon

I quickly ran out of the room and went to the training ground. Jenna was no longer there. Good!

I have to get Valerie back before Jenna finds out anything is going wrong or before Xavier even comes back.

Everyone in the room looked in my direction as soon as I appeared through the door. They just be sensing my alarmed state since they were all staring at me as though they were going to magically pry my thoughts out of my mind.

I hesitated for a while as I thought about what to say. I couldn’t let them know I was going to make them find Valerie or else they would only do it hesitantly and those who didn’t care would not do it devotedly.

“Alex is no longer in the dorm. We have to find him,” I said in an alarmed tone and that alarmed state seemed to pass onto all of them instantly. I didn’t lie, but I was able to indirectly pass the idea that Alex had gone missing or had been abducted in his weak state.

I was sure that Alex was the one who took Valerie. Someone must also be helping him because he should still be too weak to carry her away or even attack Raphael. I made a mistake. I should have known that it would be stupid keeping Alex in the same room with a Vampire without him trying to harm the vampire.

  I was scared.

I was scared that Alex might have done something bad to Valerie already.

I was scared that Xavier would be furious with me for letting Valerie get hurt under my watch.

But most of all, I was scared that Xavier would finally lose every emotion he had left and snap.

“I want you all to search everywhere right now and the instant you know, let me know.” I ordered and everyone dropped what they were holding, stood up and walked past me.

“Roderigo, Nate, let’s search the woods together,” I stopped the last two in the room and they nodded.

I quickly ran out of the room, heading for the exit. I ran into the forest outside the pack mansion and signalled Roderigo and Nate to go in separate directions.

As soon as they left, my bones began to crack as I transformed into a wolf. I leaped into the air and began to run through the forest, my yellow wolf eyes darting around, my nostrils picking up every smell and my ears listening to every sound being made.

I created a telepathic mind link with the others who were searching for Alex. “Has any one seen him?” I asked and jumped over a tree that had fallen to the floor.

“No,” they all responded and I grunted.

I kept running even faster, jumping trees and taking quick turns. Suddenly, I heard snapping out twigs coming from far away, but because of the speed at which I was running, I couldn’t point out the direction it came came from.

It might have been the two others who were searching the forest with me, but it could have also been something else.

I heard the same snapping again, and this time it was accompanied with multiple footsteps.

I suddenly stopped running and hone my hearing to point out where the sounds were coming from.

My eyes darted in the far left direction and I turned, leaping into the air and running in the direction..

“I think we’re far enough.” I heard Alex’ voice was where I was and I began to run even faster. It sounded like he hadn’t done anything yet, but I had to reach there fast.

It woukd take him few seconds to cut out a stake from the trees and drive it through her heart. And I was right, someone was with him.

I growled as I leaped into the air and landed in an clear land in the middle of the forest. I snarled at Alex and the one helping him, Carver.

I growled and Carver gritted his teeth, snarling at me. I changed back to my human form and glanced at the bag on the floor.

  It must be Valerie.

“Xavier said that no one must hurt her!” I yelled at them and they glared at me with equal intensity.

“Xavier didn’t tell me anything,” Alex said and I glanced at him, “I didn’t hear anything from him because while I was being ambushed and brutally attacked by vampires, he was here romancing a Vampire!” Alex yelled and I growled at him.

“Alex-“ I started, but Alex cut me off.

“What? Do you think I’m going to go around, ignoring the presence of a Vampire? Did you really think that?”

“She’s Xavier’s mate!” I yelled at him and shit Carver a menacing glare.

“Now, I’m going to take Valerie back and Xavier won’t hear of what you just did,” I said and walked towards the bag on the floor next to Alex.

“I won’t let you!” Alex retorted as I got close to the bag, he kicked me in the chest and I went crashing to the floor, with my naked back scratching against the floor.

I groaned in pain, but Alex was the one groaning even louder. The bastard was weak, but he was really going to hurt himself just to show how much he hated vampires.

I stood up and growled rushing forward to grab the bag, but Alex rushed forward and blocked my path.

I grabbed his shoulder and tried to shove him aside, but he grabbed my arm. He was only taking the fact that I didn’t want to hurt him for granted.

“Are you going to kill me because of a Vampire, Hungh?” He asked with his eyes locking onto mine. I remained quiet for a while, but then from the corner of my eye, I saw Carver dash forward and grab the bag.

He had a roughly cut stake in his hand and a wicked glare on his face.

“Carver, don’t you dare?!” I said and let go of Alex, slowly walking towards him. He ignored me and quickly raised up the stake. He was about to drive the stake through the bag, when he suddenly gasped, his hand freezing in the air.

I looked as claws stuck out his chest and a hand suddenly pulled out his heart.

Carver’s hand uncurled around the stake and his he slowly fell to the ground. As the bag on his shoulder fell, Raphael’s hand bent to pick it and I looked at Xavier holding Carver’s heart in his hand.
