Chapter 16

  Xavier.

“Thanks.” I nodded at the same men who had brought me to their Alpha as they escorted me to my car parked outside of their forest.

“I’ll look into what your Alpha said. I promise,” I assured and smiled, nodding at me. I got into my car and inserted my keys, igniting the engine. The engine came to life and I pulled the gear, driving away. I touched my pocket to feel the antidote I kept there and I nodded as my fingers touched it.

I pulled the gear again, driving at the highest speed the car could go. I was scared. It was not yet 48 hrs, but it was just an estimation and I feared something bad could have happened to Valerie.

I didn’t want to dare think about that dreadful word.

My car zoomed through the road as I manevoveed my way through the cars on the road. I soon passed by the territory of the Blue Moon Pack.

If it was to be under a normal circumstance, I would have stopped to let Clyde know his information was right and maybe thank him, but I was in a hurry and Valerie’s life was depending on how fast I could I can get back to my pack.

I wished I could just talk to someone back at the pack, but I was too far to create a mindlink and I was I so much hurry while leaving that I didn’t pick my cellphone.

  -

I didn’t know how many hours it took, but I soon drove into the territory of the Moon Edge Pack.

Immediately, I tried to do a mind link with Raphael so I could get an update on Valerie’s state, but the connection seemed blank on his end and I couldn’t get through.

I tried to create one with Nathan too, but although he was reachable, it kept failing like he was busy with something else or was talking to others through the mindlink.

I became worried and increased the speed, driving through the pack lands towards the mansion. I finally reached the mansion and the car came to a screeching halt as I recklessly parked the car before the building. I didn’t bother to retrieve the car keys as I quickly opened the door and got out. I walked into the building and ran towards the healer’s dorm.

I passed by the training ground and briefly stopped, looking inside.

  Strange.

  No body was there.

I pushed the thought aside and continued running towards the dorm. As I got there, I ran in and went towards Valerie’s bed.

To my surprise, she wasn’t on her bed and Raphael was lying unconsciously on the bed next to hers.

  What happened?

I tried creating a mindlink with Nathan again, but all to avail.

I turned as I sensed someone passed by and I ran to the door.

“Dan,” I called out to the man that walked past and he turned around to face me.

“Alpha.” He said and walked towards me.

  “Where’s Nathan?”

“Alex went missing this morning and we are all looking for him,” he replied and I nodded, signalling him to go.

  How could Alex go missing?

Before I could think about it, I heard Raphael stir out of his unconsciousness from behind me and I quickly walked to him.

“Raphael.” I called as he slowly opened his eyes. He soon appeared to be fully conscious and finally saw that I was standing before me.

“Alpha Xavier.” He said and stood up straight on the bed, looking around him. A look of realization came up on his face and he looked at me with a sorry expression.

He was making me scared. What happened?

“Raphael, what happened?” I asked, placing my hand on his shoulder. “What happened to Valerie. Where’s she?” I asked again.

“Carver.” He replied and I threw my head back.

That bastard didn’t repent. I’m going to kill him if he hurt Valerie.

“Carver and Alex. They attacked me and they must have taken Valerie away. “ He explained and I took his hands off my shoulder.

That’s why Nathan has all of them looking for Alex, so he can find Valerie.

I moved backward and quickly helped Raphael to his feet.

“I have the antidote, but we have to find them quickly.”

  -

I leaped Into the air and jumped over a fallen tree as I ran through the forest in my wolf form. Raphael’s wolf was also running behind me and all my instincts were on high alert so I could find them.

I was scared of what might have happened. Raphael just informed me that Valerie had worseb a d she wouldn’t be able to stay alive for the 48 hrs he had previously estimated. Now, my own pack members were trying to kill and our her through god-knows-what kind of situation.

My eyes darted around as my nostrils picked up Nathan scent and I knew he must have passed here. I inhaled the air so I could follow the scent and I immediately leaped in the left direction.

As I ran, Nathan’ scent began to get stronger and his scent was no longer the only thing I could pick up.

I could smell Carver and Alex, but the strongest scent filling my nostrils were Valerie’s.

I began to run even faster and I could now begin to pick up their voices.

“Are you going to kill me because of a Vampire?” I heard Alex’s voice. I could also hear their heavy breathing. I heard someone cut out a branch from a tree and my heart began to race faster.

It had to be a stake.

“Don’t you dare?!” I heard Nathan yell and I jumped completely into the air, I changed into my human form mid air and landed on the floor with my right palm. I raised my head up and saw Carver try to drive a stake through a bag in his hand.

My vision became red and I felt my claws extract from my hand as I danced forward and drive them through Carver’s heart from behind.

I grunted and pulled his beating heart of his chest, blood flowing down my hand.

I watched the stake fall from his hand and the bag fell from his shoulder, Raphael bent down to carry it.
