Chapter 22

“Do you think any of them still has murderous intentions towards Valerie?” He asked and I glanced at the door briefly.

“I don’t know, but you were able to pass your message,” I replied and followed Xavier as he walked out of the hall. He looked tired.

“There were too many meetings. The head of security and Senator Griffin wanted to meet,” he said and bent his neck both ways, the sound of his bones cracking filling the air.

  “What was it?” I asked.

“Some Humans protesting about the unfair treatment of Vampires,” he replied and my eyes widened in surprise.

  How was that possible?

“It’s true,” Xavier said, reading my mind.

If this was really happening, Nexus Services won’t be happy about this. The protests would definitely affect their operations and if it the protests continued, it won’t be long before one body or the other steps in and begins to check their activities.

I sighed and rested my palms on my waist.

“Griffin said he’d get back to me,”

I need to find Jenna, I thought as I remembered what happened this morning. I felt so drawn to her and kisses her before I could know and then I reacted like I hated her.

I didn’t know why I did that and I felt bad that I had hurt her feelings.

I walked to her room and knocked on the door, but there was no reply so I tried to open the door, but it was locked.

A part of me knew why I had reacted that way. It was because I was afraid that if I had anything to do with her, my mate would appear and I would have to hurt her feelings.

I decided to check the training room and I ran there, worried about where she might be. What if she has left? I asked myself and I didn’t like how the thought of that possibility made me scared.

As I reached the training ground, I looked in, but no one was there. The room smelt of alcohol though and I could sense that she just left here.

I walked down the corridor and her smell became more and more stronger. I suddenly sighted her leaning on a wall down the corridor. She looked so drunk and she reeked of alcohol.

I ran forward and just as she was about to fall and caught her in my hand. She passed out that moment and I lifted her up, carrying her..

I looked at the side as Jenna stirred out of her sleep and I quickly buttoned up my shirt. She slowly opened her eyes and looked around, her eyes stopping on me.

She looked surprised and she quickly stood up from her bed. She took another glance around the room.

“Why….” She started, but she suddenly stopped and ran into the toilet. I heard her vomit for a while followed by the flushing of the toilet before she came out.

“Why am I in your room?” She asked.

“Because you were very drunk and your room was locked,” I replied.

She held her hand to her head and closed her eyes, squeezing her face.

  “What is it?” I asked.

“I’m trying to remember something I think I forgot,” she said and shook her head, “it seems to be something important.” She added.

“If its something important, you’ll remember,” I said and she dropped her hand from her head, her expression suddenly changing into an angry one.

“Thank you, I’ll go now,” She got into her sandals that lay by the foot of the bed and walked towards the door.

Quickly, I zoomed forward and placed my hand on the door.

She looked at me with an annoyed expression and moved back.

She stared into my eyes and all I could see was anger.

“Get out of my way,” She said, but I stood still, holding the door.

“Jenna, I’m sorry,” I said and she scoffed, placing her hands on her waist.

“I’m sorry for how I reacted towards you,”I apologized again, but the look in her eyes didn’t waver a bit.

“You’re sorry.” She scoffed, “are you sorry that you kissed me first and then pushed me away or are you sorry that you treated me like some sort of thrash you detest so much? Hungh?” She said, looking defiantly into my eyes.

“Jenna-“ I started, not sure of what to say, but she cut me off again.

“You’ve shown me how you feel already, so I’m not going to further irritate you,” She said.

“I’ll say my goodbyes to Valerie and then leave this place like you told me to,” she continued and tried to walk out again, but I stood in her path and kept the door.

“Jenna, please. I’m truly sorry, I didn’t mean anything I said,” I pleaded, having mixed feelings. I was scared that she was going to leave and I was also mad at my self for behaving that way to her.

“Tell me. Why did you do it?” She asked, moving backward and staring into my face..

  “Jenna-“

“Why did you do it?!” She cut me off

“I did it because I was afraid I’ll let my self fall in love with you and then lose you!” I said quickly in one single breath and sighed, throwing my head back.

She looked frozen for a while and I slowly moved closer to her.

“I did it because I was afraid that I would find my mate and end up hurting your feelings,” I continued.

Her lips quivered for a while and she looked as if she was going to cry.

“I hate you!” She screamed and my heart skipped. Did I say anything wrong..

“I hate you because you’re the only guy who has ever made me feel so helpless,” She continued and I sighed in relief.

Suddenly, she came towards me and pulled me into a tight hug. I was taken aback for a while before finally wrapping my hands around her too.

“Let’s have our time before your mate shows up,” She said, her breath lingering on my neck and I nodded.

“I love you Nathan,” she said to my surprise and I slowly pulled her back, looking into her eyes.

“I love you.” I leaned towards her and kissed her on the forehead.
