Xavier.
I watched as everyone walked out of the hall as I dismissed them. Everyone was talking to each other as they did, but I shut off my Werewolf hearing. I wasn’t interested in hearing what they all had to say.
Or rather, I didn’t want to risk hearing that some of them were displeased.
I looked at the side and Valerie stood up. Our eyes met, but she quickly looked away and called out to Jenna who was at the other end of the hall.
Nathan too stood up and walked towards me, “give her time, she’s stlll processing everything,” he said and I nodded.
“I hope so. I really lashes out on her for pointing fingers at Gina,” I said bitterly and climbed down from the podium. I walked out and Nathan followed by my side.
“I also didn’t think Gina could do that,” Nathan said and then he suddenly began to smile teasingly. What was it this time?
“But I told you to look into it, didn’t I?” He laughed and I muttered a curse underneath my breath.
I nodded, acknowledging that he got me and then decided to pay back.
“I’d thrash you right now, but Jenna would be so heartbroken,” I said teasingly and Nathan stopped laughing. He remained silent for a while before resting his hands on his waist.
“I don’t go about boning my face, everyone would be sad to see me in a bad situation,” Nathan chuckled and I froze.
“Crazy punk.” I muttered and he burst into laughter.
My phone suddenly rang in my pocket and I reached for it. It was Alpha Cedric of White Oak Pack.
I nodded at Nathan and walked away before picking the call.
“Cedric, any feedback on the Vampire investigation?” I asked and waited for a response from the other end.
“Yes, my men just arrived,” Cedric’s voice echoed out of the phone.
“What is it?” I asked impatiently.
“The Vampires are not responsible for the human protests,” he said and I held the phone closer to my ear. I knew it.
They couldn’t compell so many humans as only 5 out of 10 vampires could use compulsions and after a few, they get exhausted.
“Xavier?” Cedric’s voice echoed again and I responded, “yes, I’m here.”
“From what my men found out, most of these humans have vampire friends or families that were arrested by the police,” Cedric added.
“Okay, thanks. I’ll talk to you later,” I said and cut the call.
None of these made sense.
Police?
The Nexus Services officials were the ones arresting the Vampires not the police. And how come Vampires who had blended I to the society were being arrested to.
I thought it was just the criminal ones.
I held up my phone again and quickly dialed Jared’s number. The phone rang out without Jared picking the call and I walked down the corridor to my room.
As I entered my room, I dialed the number again and after a while, he picked the call.
“I suppose you’re calling back about the investigations we asked you to organize,” Jared said sounding irritated and annoyed. Did I interrupt something?
“Jared, about Nexus Services-“ I started and Jared replied, “yes?”
“What do the public know about it?” I asked and Jared remained silent for a while before finally giving me a reply.
“Xavier, Nexus Services deals with supernatural criminal activities, do you expect us to reveal our program and risk getting attacked?” Jared replied with a question and I sat on my bed.
“What do those humans those humans think happens to Vampires that are arrested? I asked.
“The exact thing we do. They think we imprison them, but we make it seem the police take them to a secret facility strong enough to hold them,” Jared replied, “the only thing they don’t know is that we have a special force handling it or else, we won’t see an end of attacks from bittered supernaturals,” Jared added.
“Well, Nexus Services will have to answer to the part of the government left in the dark side sooner or later,” I said and Jared remained silent for a while.
“What do you mean?”
“The protests are not being controlled by Vampires,” I stated.
“They are not being compelled?” Jared asked.
“Yes. They are friends and families of Vampires who have been arrested and they think you’re being racist,” I explained.
I cut the call immediately and stood up from my bed, sighing loudly.
I walked out of my room again and stopped by Valerie’s room next to mine, knocking on the door.
The door soon opened and Valerie stood at the door.
"We didn't get to talk earlier," I said, intertwining my fingers before me.
Lena stared at me for a while before opening the door wider and stepping aside for me to come in.
She closed the door and turned around to face me.
"I want an apology," she said, crossing her hands over her chest.
"Tell me that I was right and you were a wrong," She continued, "tell me that you were a jerk," She added and I nodded.
"Yes, Valerie. I'm sorry," I said, swallowing, "I should have listened to you, but I disagreed and I was a total jerk to you," I said and she slowly unfolded her arms.
I slowly walked towards her, "I'm sorry about every stupid thing I've done since I met you." I stopped before her and slowly stretched out my hands to push aside strands of her covering her face.
I moved closer towards her and slowly leaned towards her, pressing my lips against her.
She returned the kiss and I placed my hand at the back of her head kissing her deeply.
Suddenly, I felt my teeths extend into fangs and my finger nails slowly turn into claws..
I suddenly jerked backward, pulling away from her as I felt the urge to hurt her..
"Xavier." Valerie called, but I looked away as I felt my eyes turn a blood red color.
I hid myself from her and quickly moved away.
"I'm sorry, I have to go," I said and walked out of the room, closing the door.
As I walked out the room, my fangs and claws retracted back in and my vision went back to normal.
I looked forward as Roderigo and Kylan walked into the building. They were the two I had sent to investigate the Nexus Services.
They walked up to me and I nodded at them. They looked like they had plenty to say.
"Follow me."
