Valerie.
I slowly unfolded my arms as Xavier apologized. I didn’t want to accept his apology so easily, but it wasn’t possible. Not with him standing directly in front of him and his bright blue eyes staring at me.
He slowly walked towards her and It felt like I was frozen in the spot I was in.
“I’m sorry about every stupid thing I’ve done since I met you.” He stopped just before me and I glanced at his hand and they slowly reached out towards me. His hand slowly pushed back the strands of my hair covering my face and I felt a sensual feeling rip throughout my body.
I watched as he moved closer towards me he slowly leaned towards me. Before I knew it, he pressed his lips against mine and I was frozen for a while.
I finally moved and returned the kiss. He placed his hand at the back of my head and I opened my mouth to let him in. I pressed my body against his as I began to feel things I hadn’t felt with a man before.
I gasped as Xavier suddenly jerked backward, pulling away from me. I saw his eye become red fir a split second, but he quickly looked away. What was wrong.
My eyes darted to his fingers and I saw his claws extended, but he soon hid his fingers too.
“Xavier.” I called, but he turned around and quickly moved away from me. I watched as be walked towards the door and I couldn’t move from the spot I stood out of surprise.
“I’m sorry, I have to go,” He said and walked out of the room, closing the door. I remained standing in the spot I was in for a while before walking away and sitting on my bed.
What just happened?
I sighed and lied with my back flat on the bed, staring directly at the ceiling. That kiss felt so good, but it ended so quickly because of God knows what.
I stood up again and walked towards the door. He was still in the corridor in front of my room. I could sense him and I could hear him breathing heavily.
“Follow me.” I heard him say with my enhanced hearing and I heard him unlock his door and close it.
I walked to the wall that seperated his room from mine and put my ear against the wall.
“What did you find out,” I heard Xavier ask.
There was silence for a while before another unknown voice replied Xavier.
“The arrested Vampires, they’re not really being imprisoned.” I pressed my ears closer against the wall as the voices sounded faint.
What were this walls made off. Probably something good enough to prevent a Werewolf from eavesdropping, I answered my own question. Vampire instincts were powerful than that of Werewolves and that was the only reason I could still manage to hear them.
“What?” Xavier sounded surprised, but so did I? If they weren’t being imprisoned, what was happening to them.
“Some of them are, but that’s not the main reason for the arrests,” a third voice said.
“After being arrested, they are tested and those that meet some specific qualifications are moved to a secret private laboratory,” he continued and I gasped. When they arrested me, they took a sample of my blood, but I didn’t know why.
“According to what we were able to get, Nexus Services don’t arrest all Vampires based on crimes they committed, some of them are arrested based on scientific data.” The door suddenly opened and I moved away from the hall as Jenna walked in.
Oh, I forgot to lock the door after Xavier left.
She glanced at me and then at the hall in n confusion before crossing her arms over her shoulder and staring at me.
“Were you eavesdropping into Xavier’s room?” She asked.
“Why didn’t you knock before coming in,” I avoided the question with another question.
“The door wasn’t properly closed, so I walked in.” She replied and closed the door.
“So what did you hear?” Jenna asked and walked closer, sitting on my bed.
I knew she wouldn’t forget about it. On the bright side, I really needed someone to talk to.
I walked to the bed and sat next to her.
“I think Xavier is investigating the activities of Nexus Services,” I said and Jenna seemed confused.
“Oh, sorry, Nexus Services are-“ I wanted to explain to her, but she interrupted me.
“No, I know what Nexus Service is, how do you think I found you,” She rolled her eyes and I regarded her statement.
“I’m confused because I thought Xavier was supposed to be in charge of their field operations,” Jenna stated.
“I don’t know, but I think he’s onto something,” I said and I knew I had Jenna’s full attention by the way she glared at me.
“Someone mentioned that they move their prisoners to a secret private laboratory,” I paused, “I think that’s why they took my blood sample the day I was arrested.” I added.
“What do you think they’re doing to the prisoners in those laboratories?” Jenna asked and I shrugged.
Whatever it was, it couldn’t be something good and those prisoners could exactly be having the time of their life.
“That’s not all, not all those arrested actually committed a crime. They arrest majority of them based on their scientific data,” I added and Jenna eyebrows furrowed.
“Like you,” she said pointing at me, “it can’t be a coincidence that the first time you go to a Vampire gathering, you get raided.” She added and I nodded. That made sense.
That made a lot of sense.
“Could it be that there’s something about me that they want?” I asked and she shrugged, squeezing her lips.
If they really weren’t mainly after criminals, then there had to be some specific things they were looking for.
If there was any specific details, then there had to be a list. A list of targets or a list of people already in detainment.
As if Jenna was thinking the same thing with me, her next words to stand up.
“The flash drive,” Jenna said, “The flash drive with the facility details.”
