Valerie
I sighed and also walked out of Xavier’s room. I closed the door and twisted my neck as I walked to my room.
I grabbed my door knob and open the door when someone walked in through the buildings entrance..
I looked up and froze as I saw who it was. My hands slowly uncurled around the door knob and my mouth was literally dropping to the floor.
I would recognise that face anywhere, but she couldn’t possibly be here.
She smiled nervously as she spotted me, “Hi. I’m Lena. Am I in the Moon Edge Pack?”
She slowly walked towards me, but before she could get close enough, two men I didn’t know zoomed in front of me and blocked my path.
What?
I looked at the broad backs of the two men standing before me and I chuckled as I realised what was happening..
Did Xavier really have his men secretly guarding me.
“Who are you?” One of the men asked in a thick, coarse voice and I moved to the side as they were blocking my view of Lena.
She’s dead. She’s supposed to be dead. How the hell is she here? But more importantly, is the mate bond with Xavier still there.
“I’m Lena, is Xavier here?” She asked and the men glanced at me then back at Lena.
I nodded at them and they stepped aside as I stood before Lena.
“Hello. I’m Valerie, Xavier’s Mate and the Luna of this pack,” I said and she looked surprised, her jaws about to literally drop to the floor.
“Ma……mate?” She asked and I nodded affirmatively.
“Yes.” I nodded.
She remained silent for a while and stared at me. I stared back.
What was really happening here. If they buried Lena, how the hell was she alive.
“But you’re a Vampire,” she said with irritation in her voice, but I ignored it and nodded, crossing my arms over my chest.
“What’s happening here?” I heard Nathan’ voice from behind and the men behind me stepped aside. It was Nathan and Jenna and they were looking at the men indifferently.
“Valerie, what’s happening?” Nathan asked me, but then he froze in place as he looked at the lady standing behind me.
“Le………..Lena.” Nathan muttered softly and he looked like he has just seen a ghost. She was literally supposed to be a ghost.
“Nathan!” Lena seemed excited to see Nathan and she walked past me, walking towards Nathan and pulling him into a tight hug.
Nathan remained frozen for a while before slowly returning the hug. Lena pulled back and glanced at Jenna.
“Hi.” She waved at Jenna and Jenna replied with a forced smile, “heyy.”
Jenna glanced at me and nodded at Lena with a questioning expression and I shrugged.
“Nathan, where’s Xavier?” Lena asked and I glanced back at her.
How was she alive? If she had survived somehow, where has she been all this while? Why was she just coming for Xavier after all this while.
All these questions and more disturbed me.
“Ka……Xavier? I think he just left.”
Xavier.
I pulled the gear of my car as I drove through the almost empty road that led out of the city. I looked up as I saw the board welcoming me into Carlifonia.
It would take about an hour drive to get to where I was going and it was getting dark already. I picked up the speed and looked up as I spotted a familiar estate.
Unlike most packs located inside forests, the Blue Moon Pack was located in a personal estate.
I slowly turned to the road leading towards the estate and came to a halt before the massive gate leading into the estate.
I whirled down the side mirror by my seat and looked out at the guards there for clearing.
The guard nodded as he recognized me and I looked back at the steering of the car, slowly driving into the gate that slowly parted both ways.
If I was certain about anything, it was that Clyde had known I’m here the instant that guard saw me.
It was dark already and I couldn’t go to the fugitive camp in the forest at this time. I needed somewhere to stay for the time being and moreover, I had not been able to stop to thank him or let him know his information was correct the other day.
About five minutes later, I brought my car to a halt before the main pack mansion.
The door opened and looked through the rear mirror to see Clyde step out of the door.
I retrieved my keys from the car and climbed out, shutting the door.
“Xavier.” Clyde called me with a wide smile and walked towards me with his both hands spread out. I returned the smile and received him into a hug.
I was happy that despite everything that happened, out friendship wasn’t affected.
We broke the hug and Clyde gestured towards the door, “Let’s go in,” He said and I nodded, following him into the building.
“I waited for you to come back the other day, but you didn’t,” Clyde said and I faced him, nodding.
“Sorry, I found the group as you said and they were able to give me an antidote,” I replied.
“I would have branched here while returning, but I had to get the antidote back to my pack quickly. I hope you understand?” I said and he nodded in acknowledgement.
“So why are you here today?” Clyde asked
“I was on my way to the place where I got the antidote and it got dark, so I decided to use the opportunity to visit you,” I said and he nodded.
“Happy to see you, I thought you had abandoned me again,” Clyde said and I saw an unknown emotion flash through his eyes for a split second.
“I wouldn’t.” I said and stopped walking. Clyde did too and faced me, I gave him an assuring nod.
“So, what is it that’s so important. Another pack problem?” Clyde asked and I have a negative nod.
“No. It’s something that concerns everyone this time,” I said and he looked confused.
“I don’t have full information, but some top individuals have a devious scheme.”
