Xavier.
I walked by Clyde’s side as he led us through the pack building..
“Happy to see you, I thought you had abandoned me again,” Clyde said and I saw an unknown emotion flash through his eyes for a split second.
“I wouldn’t.” I said and stopped walking. Clyde did too and faced me, I gave him an assuring nod.
“So, what is it that’s so important. Another pack problem?” Clyde asked and I have a negative nod.
“No. It’s something that concerns everyone this time,” I said and he looked confused.
“I don’t have full information, but some top individuals have a devious scheme.” Clyde stopped walking immediately the words fell from my mouth and I also stopped.
He remained that way for about 15 seconds, his eyeballs moving like he was thinking about a lot of things.
He blinked and continued walking so I followed him again.
He finally stopped before a large room with no door, just the arched layout of an entrance. There were numerous couches in the room and a bar at the east corner of the room.
Clyde gestured towards a couch and I sat down..
“Everyone thinks that the government are attacking and arresting only Vampires because of their violent and criminal tendencies, but that’s not all,” I said, releasing the information bit by bit as I sought the right words.
“Yes, I also have a government licenced team charged with the duty of helping in the arrest of criminal vampires.” Clyde looked indifferent and his eyebrows furrowed.
“They are not just being imprisoned. Some of them are being experimented upon in secret laboratories.” I said and Clyde scrunched up his nose.
What was he thinking this time?
“Why?” He asked.
“Of course, I know that these humans love to push boundaries and break natural limits with science, but what are the purpose of these experiments?” Clyde asked and I shrugged, “Are they trying to create an ultimate vampire weakness?”
“But what if I told you Vampires are not the only victims here?” I said and Clyde’s pupils narrowed.
I stood up with a low grunt and walked towards the bar, grabbing a bottle of wine and two wine glasses.
I walked back and Clyde’s eyes were following my every movement.
I sat down and uncocked the wine with another low grunt. I poured some into both cups and pushed one across the table separating me and Clyde.
I picked up my own glass and sipped a bit of the wine, sighing and dropping the glass on the table.
Clyde dropped his glass too and stared at me for an answer.
“I saw the list of detainees and those qualified for the experiments. They are arresting Werewolves too.” As soon as the words rolled out of my mouth, Clyde froze and his jaws were literally dropping to the ground, his mouth hanging open.
He finally jerked out of his daze as o snapped my fingers before his eye.
“Those bastards! What are they up to?” He asked and he was visibly infuriated.
“That’s what I’m going to find out, but first, I need to let the groups know they were right and get any extra information I can get from them,” I explained..
“Those people were the one who tipped you off before?” Clyde asked and raised his wine glass to his lips.
“Yes.” I nodded.
“Who are they by the way? I only heard rumours about their network and medicinal skills,” Clyde said, holding his wine glass in his hand and resting his right hand on the couch’s arm rest.
“You wouldn’t believe it if I told you,” I said and he scoffed.
“Rogues and Vampires living together,” I said and Clyde looked dazed for a while before laughing it off.
Proud fool.
“Okay, let’s get you somewhere to rest.”
I winced in pain as a silver plated wing tore through my arm and I let howled loudly, leaping into the air and pulling the vampire by the wings. I smashed him to the ground and I sent my spears right through his heart.
I looked around me to see several dead bodies. Several dead werewolves lying on the earth that had become red and blood soaked. All I could here was the clashing of swords, snarls, howls and the cries of wounded soldiers.
I locked eyes with a vampire and he snarled at me, dashing towards me and slashing his silver plated wings at me. I roared and bent to the side, quickly using the chance to stun him with a punch before plucking out his hands with my bare hands.
The vampires outnumbered us and I watched my fellow wolfs get killed by the merciless savages. I looked to the right to see Lena fighting off two vampires and using her sword to counter their wings. We had long transformed back into our human form after so much forceful reverting and we were all completed naked.
My eyes darted to a vampire sneaking up behind her and I stabbed the two vampires beside me with my spears before rushing towards her to save her.
I ran with every speed in me and was so close to her when a vampire smashed me in the fave with his wings.
I went tumbling to the ground and I looked up to see the vampire send his wings through her heart.
“Lenaaaaaa!!!” I screamed. The next moment, I was no longer in that battlefield and I met myself in a open space.
I breathed in, trying to recover my breath. The smell of freshly cut grass drifted across the meadow with the clippings scattered over the turf. The branches of the giant oak tree swayed to and fro in the wind, shaking the leaves, so they fell like raindrops, their green color fading and replaced by patches of brown.
The weather seemed perfect as the sun was shining and no clouds were in sight. The meadow was spacious, with a collection of trees and bushes guarding the perimeter.
Before me was a gathering of thick white fogs and I couldn’t see into it or past it no matter how hard I tried. Suddenly I saw someone appear before me and I looked closer to see a lady standing before me. She looked like Lena and the same time looked like…..Valerie. She was smiling at me.
She stretched out her hands towards me and I stretched out my hands to receive hers. As I tried to grab her, she was being drawn backward and I kept moving closer towards her.
“Grab my hands,” she said and I ran forward to grab her hands but she was drawn backward even more. I tried again and she continued being drawn backward.
“Grab my hands?” She screamed and I ran forward, her screams dying out as she got sucked into the fog that became black.
I gasped and jerked out of sleep.
