Jenna.
I grunted as Nathan twirled me around and held me to himself tightly, his hand pressed against my neck. I use my elbows to hit him in the shoulder and he jerks backward. I quickly use the chance to take his hands off me.
“How did she die.” I asked and moved aside as Nathan threw a punch at me. I quickly held the same hand and grunted as I used all the strength in me to twist it and in turn, slam him to the floor.
I smirked, but a wicked smile played on his lips as he suddenly uses his left leg to hook my leg and twist it.
I lost balance and fell to the floor with a groan, before I could recover from that, Nathan sat up and wrapped his hand around my neck tightly.
“She was killed when we were fighting a Vampire Coven just after Xavier started this pack. Or at least, that’s what we thought.” Nathan replied indifferently and let go of me, standing up. He didn’t look convinced about something.
“I’m just worried about Valerie,” I said and he stretched out his hands to me, pulling me up.
“I know.” Nathan nodded, “she must have never expected any of this to happen.”
“Do you think the mate bond between Lena and Xavier is still there?” I asked and sighed as I sat on a bench, picking up my water bottle.
“I don’t know, but just like Xavier getting mated to a Vampire, there are several other rare happenings,” Nathan replied and sat down next to me..
“There are instances where a wolf turns up with two mates.” He added and my heart skipped. I was afraid for Valerie, that would be horrible if it was the case.
Xavier stood up suddenly and I looked at him curiously.
“Xavier is back.” He said.
Valerie.
I watched as Lena walked into the room, Nathan took her too. She glanced at me one last time before disappearing behind the door and closing it.
I sighed and crossed my arms over my chest, caressing my bare skin. I could feel winter coming already. I walked to my room and sat on the bed.
What was happening? Why was it happening to me?
I asked and threw my head backward with a frustrated sigh. In the last two weeks, my life has taken several turns and my old life was becoming just as memory already.
My job. Will I ever go back to it?
I stood up from the bed and walked to the reading table so I could get my mind of things. When Xavier arrives, I’ll know my fate. I’ll be able to know what happens or if he still has his mate bond with Lena.
I drew the chair back and sat down, going through the books on my table. I couldn’t find any of the books I had been reading and I sighed as I realized they were Xavier’s book.
He was out and his room was locked. I spotted a romance novel and even though I preferred fantasy and paranormal novels, I picked it up and decided to read it.
“Killing Nolan Softly, Hmn.” I looked at the sensual cover picture and regarded it before opening the book.
*A fake smile is plastered on my face as I stare at the man in front of me.
His name is David Rowland, and he is the producer of the upcoming film, “Love Me Harder.” And right now, I am trying to concentrate on our mindless conversation, trying my best to look animated.
“You know you have the perfect bone structure and the body of an actor. Have you thought about being in the show business?” David says and looks me up and down. His eyes linger on my breasts a little too long, and I have the sudden urge to throw my delicious wine at his smirking face.
But I couldn’t do that. I was here for a purpose, and it was to impress this man.
“I’m more of a businesswoman,” I say and force a smile.
“Oh? What kind of business?”
“Well…I…” I stop midway as I spot a tall figure in my peripheral vision. My heart stopped as I looked at the lean, hard body in an expensive, well-tailored suit.
Nolan fucking Walters.*
I sigh and suddenly shut the book close. I stood up and rested my palms on my waist, pacing up and down the room.
I was feeling do disturbed and couldn’t even concentrate on the book I was reading, despite how captivating it was.
I grabbed my hair and tie it into a bun adjusting my legs in my sandal. I made a mental note to get back to the book later before walking towards the door.
I walked out of the room and closed the door.
At the same time, I saw a door about three rooms away open and Lena stepped out of the room. Our eyes met and we stared at each other for a while before Lena suddenly looked away and turned around.
“Lena. Wait.” I called out and she stopped walking. She turned around and she looked at me indifferently.
I walked towards her and my lips quivered as I looked for words to say.
“How did you find this place?” I asked and she remained silent for a while, looking at me like I was a ghost.
“What do you mean?” She asked with a but of annoyance in her tone.
“I was here when Xavier started this pack.” She added and I nodded, still not convinced.
“But where were you all this while?” I asked and the irritation that was in her tone was now in her expression.
“I’m not obligated to answer your questions,” She rolled her eyes at me and gave me an insulting glare.
“You’re just an insecure bitch worried that Xavier would leave you now that I’m back!” She added and walked past me.
I scoffed and turned around to face her.
“Why are you just coming if you knew where this place all along?!” I raised my voice and she looked over her shoulder.
Something flickered in her eyes for a split second and she turned around to face me.
“It’s not fair.” She suddenly began to sob and I froze in surprise.
The Hell?
“I’ve been through a lot and no one is even happy that I’m back.” She added with a sad look and tears were literally in her eyes.
“I’m tired of your insults, I’m tired.” She continued sobbing and I stood fixed in the spot I was wondering why she had suddenly made herself the victim when she just said horrible words to me.
“Lena.” I heard a familiar voice behind me and I slowly turned around to see Xavier at the door.
