Chapter 39

  Valerie

I walked towards the window and gently pushed it wide open, sticking my head out and looking at how far it was from the floor. It wasn’t far as I was on the ground floor.

I looked back at the door and sighed before climbing up and jumping out of the window. I landed with a grunt on my arm. I stood up on my feet and looked at the scratch on my arm. It immediately healed up.

I walked a few more metres away from the building and looked at the view behind the pack mansion.

There were houses scattered where the rest of the pack probably lived. I don’t know if it’s bad planning, but the pack mansion is supposed to be facing the rest of the pack instead of the forest leading to the major city.

The streets were quiet, but some kids were playing very far off. I could hear and see them with my Vampire instincts. .

I only realized how much little clothing I had on when the cold began to bite into my skin and I gently rubbed my hands together..

I didn’t know where to go or what to do now. I’m not certain I would receive any warm treatment from anyone.

Lena being here was even worse. The whole pack would prefer Xavier being with the Werewolf mate over the annoying Vampire.

I should have known that I was doomed to become the miserable one. How could I, a Vampire, ever dream of becoming the mate of a Werewolf, an Alpha.

I looked over my shoulder as I sensed a presence behind me, but I couldn’t see anyone. I ignored it and continued taking in the sight of the pack.

Suddenly, a shadow flashed in front of me and I quickly looked behind me.

  Who was it.

  Nathan.

I reduced the volume of the music playing in the car as I approached the territory of the pack. I was just coming from my twin brother, Lycian’s pack.

Lycian is an entrepreneur and CEO of a big company in Washington and he owned a private island where his pack was. At first Lycian was going to abandon or abstain from anything called wolf, but things change after he reached the peak of his carrier.

I and Lycian are Lycans, half-werewolf and after our parents died, we didn’t have anywhere to go. No one from our parents side wanted to help us, because our parents had defied everyone and married each other. It was the first time I’d see a Vampire and Werewolf be together.

I left to visit Lycian yesterday morning after the incident with Lena and Valerie.

Something about everything happening seemed fishy to me. It all seemed too good to be true. How could Lena be alive.

I was there on that battle field that day. I saw the Vampire send his wings into her chest and she fell dead to the floor. How could she be alive.

We soon retreated as the Vampires kept coming in. Apparently, they had received cooperation from another Vampire Coven and were greatly outnumbered.

Maybe she hadn’t died before we escaped, but if those Vampires found her alive, the first thing they would have done is to kill her.

They couldn’t have held her captive and even if they did, it would be to make her suffer and after getting tired, they would eventually kill her.

I remember Lena so well. She doesn’t seem like she used to.

Lena was just like Valerie. She always took care of herself and would never run to anyone or Xavier for being threatened or disturbed. But maybe all this years had changed her.

I looked up as the building of the pack mansion came into view. I reduced the car speed and slowly pulled up before the building, parking the car next to Xavier’s.

I retrieved the car keys from the engine and climbed down, shutting the door before jogging up the stairs that led to the front door.

I walked in and walked straight to my room. As soon as I closed the door, I sat on my bed and sighed. I stood up after some minutes and began to take off my clothes. I was in only my boxers and I put the clothes I had just taken off in the laundry basket.

I walked into the bathroom and quickly took a shower, coming out with my towel wrapped around my waist. I went to my closet and picked a t-shirt and grey pant, changing into it.

I walked out of my room afterwards and headed for the training room. Jenna would be there, I guessed.

As I got closer, I could hear Jenna’s grunt and when I finally reached the door, I saw her trying to break free from Roderigo’s grip.

She suddenly the threw her head back, hitting him hard on the nose. Roderigo groaned and she quickly used the chance to escape his grip.

She looked towards the door as she sensed me there and I smiled at her. She panted and picked her water bottle on the floor before walking towards me.

“I didn’t know you’d be back so soon,” she said and held her water bottle to her mouth, gulping down the content.

“Yes. I planned to stay for three days, but Lycian has something to in the city and I couldn’t stay alone in his pack,” I said and she nodded.

“So what happened when I was gone?” I asked and Jenna’s bright expression suddenly became sullen.

  “What?” I asked.

“It’s Lena and Valerie again,” she replied and I sighed. What happened this time.

“Lena claimed Valerie tried to kill her and Xavier had Valerie locked up in her room,” she explained and my mouth was left hanging open. What?

  “What?”

“Yes, she has been locked up in her room since morning, the guards wouldn’t even let me see her,” she affirmed.

Valerie tried to kill Lena? Wait, Valerie would never do that.

Why would Lena accuse Valerie of something like that. Xavier is not acting right and he can’t keep Valerie locked up.

“I’ll be right back,” I said and turned around to go, but Jenna followed me behind.

I walked to Valerie’s room and stopped before ber room door glancing at the two men at the door.

“I want to see Valerie,” I said, but they didn’t seem ready to let me in.

“Slade, I just want to see briefly and then I’ll leave,” I tried to persuade one of them and he shared glances with his partner.

The partner gave a go-ahead nod and Slade opened the door. I and Jenna walked in, and looked around the room as we couldn’t find Valerie.

“Valerie…” Jenna called, but no one replied.

She walked towards the bathroom and called when again, but no on replied. I glanced at the window at the other end tof the room and noticed that it was wide open.

I walked towards it and looked out at the ground below.

  “Bloody Hell.”
