Chapter 40

  Nathan.

Jenna walked towards the bathroom and called Valerie again, but no one replied. I glanced at the window at the other end of the room and noticed that it was wide open.

I walked towards it and looked out at the ground below.

“Bloody Hell.” I immediately turned around and Jenna faced me worriedly before glancing at the window I just left. A knowing look spread on her face and I quickly walked out of the room.

Valerie couldn’t be outside alone. Even though Xavier gave a General warning, not everyone would be willing to just let a Vampire roam about. And with rumors of the current happenings spreading around the pack, some of them would try to use it as an opportunity to harm her.

“Valerie is missing,” I told the two me assigned to guard the door and they looked at each other in surprise.

“What?!” Slade exclaimed, “I saw the Alpha put her in the room.”

“She’s missing and you need to inform Xavier already.” I said and watched them quickly go away.

“Stay here, I have to go look for Valerie,” I said to Jenna, but she nodded, “I’m coming with you.”

I nodded and faced front again, running towards the door. Close to the door, I suddenly stopped running and looked to the left as I noticed Lena’s door was partly open. I walked to the door to confirm if she was in the room, “Lena?” I called, knocking on the door, but there was no reply.

I grabbed the door knob and slowly opened the door wider, sticking my head in. She wasn’t there. I ignored it and faced Jenna, “she’s somewhere else maybe, we need to find Valerie before something bad happens to her,” I said and walked out of the door.

I ran to the back of the mansion and looked at the buildings one after the other. I couldn’t find Valerie.

  Where is she?

  Xavier.

Nolan grabs me and presses his lips on mine in response. I smell whiskey and cigar while the tip of his tongue traces the shape of my lips, then the seam in between. He is nibbling on my lower lip, setting fire in my body. This bastard is an excellent kisser, but I must fight it.

This is Nolan Walters, and he is an arrogant, disgusting man and the rival of my father’s company.

I come to my senses and smash my Louis Vuitton heels on his right foot.

Nolan yelps and lets me go. “Now I have to charge you for trespassing and physical assault.” He chuckled.

“This isn’t over, you just wait, Walters,” I threatened him.

“I won’t hold my breath, Eve. If I see you anywhere near my client again, there will be hell to pay,” Nolan hissed.

I won’t let him get away with this, I thought as I sprinted my way out of the ballroom.

  Nolan.

“Have the statistics department send every single detail right now.” I hissed and cut the call, dropping my phone carelessly on the empty car seat.

A frown spread across my face as I recalled the incident with Evelyn.

I wiped my lips subconsciously as I remembered kissing her.

I cringed at the warm feeling in my heart.

I can’t possibly like the kiss with Eve! I just did it to prove a point and that’s it!

She’s a daring and competitive woman who would go to any lengths to get what she wants. Our first meeting was at a charity event in Carnegie Hills and I found her so annoying.

I looked up as the car slowly came to a halt and the door by my side was opened by my Valet.

  What’s his name again?

I acknowledged him with a quick nod, climbing down from the car, a white Aston Martin and I walked into the building.

The frown on my face came back up as I spotted the hand bag sitting on my couch. Before I could regard it, a familiar voice hit my ears and I looked up the stairs to see Becca climb down with a wide smile on her face.*

I looked up from the table as I heard a knock on the table. Who was it?

I needed something to get my mind away from everything that was happening and I found this book to read. I remember purchasing it years ago, one copy for me and one for Lena. I didn’t really do Romance, but after reading everything on my desk, I couldn’t abandon it again.

I walked towards the door and opened it. It was the two men I asked to make sure Valerie couldn’t leave her room..

  Why were they here?

“What happened, why did you leave her room?” I asked and they shared quick glances with each other.

“She’s missing,” Slade said and it hit me by surprise. What? How could she be missing, I locked her in the room.

“Nathan went in to see her and she was missing, looks like she escaped through the window,”Slade explained and I muttered a curse beneath my breath. Of course, she was not a regular person, she could definitely get out of she wanted to.

“Nathan has gone in search of her,” Slade added and I nodded, gesturing with my hands for them to leave.

What does she think she’s doing? She’s risking her life by going into the pack.

I quickly walked to my closet and grabbed a shirt, putting it on hurriedly. I got into my sandal and walked out of the room, locking the door. I ran out to the back of the building and spotted Nathan and Jenna. They turned around to face me as they noticed my presence.

“Do you have any idea where she might have gone?” I asked Jenna, but she nodded.

“I was not allowed to see, I couldn’t possibly know,” She replied with sarcasm in her voice. I ignored her and scanned everywhere with my eyes.

“She couldn’t have gone past the borders, she has to be here somewhere.”
