Chapter 46

  Valerie.

I followed Xander into his room and locked the door behind.

“So what happened?” I asked, folding my arms across my chest.

“I’m sorry I didn’t tell you Valerie,” Xander said and went to sit on his bed with a groan. He took off his leather jacket and dropped it on the bed next to him.

“Okay,” I said nodding, “but you still haven’t told me what’s happening.”

“It’s You. Nexus Services wants me to return you back to the prison facility,” Xander explained and I felt my heart skip.

Go back to that torture? Never.

Why the hell do they even want me? They have so many prisoners to do whatever they wanted to so why were they after me?

“You work for them and they installed you as Alpha King, they should be able to respect the fact that I’m your mate,” I said, stretching out my right hand and breathing loudly.

“And you don’t think I told them that?” Xander asked and continued taking off his armor with groans. He sounded like he was in pain.

“They didn’t care and that means there’s something they want. I just can’t figure it out,” Xander continued and finally took off the last shirt on his body.

I gasped as I saw the injuries on his body. There were cuts and bullet holes. Although, they blood was no more oozing out of them, the injuries were still somehow fresh.

They were silver wounds and they won’t heal quickly in a Werewolf.

“You’re hurt,” I said and walked closer to him to inspect the wounds carefully.

“Lie down, I’ll be back,” I said and walked into the bathroom. I grabbed a small towel and opened some warm water into a bowl.

I walked back into the bedroom and Xander was lying on the bed with his back lying flat on the bed.

I pulled the table by his bed closer and sat on it, placing the bowl on my laps.

I dipped the towel into the bowl of warm water and squeezed it. I looked at Valerie and got carried away by the structure of his perfectly sculptured abs before blinking and placing the towel softly on his chest.

I continued cleaning and massaging his torso for a while before stopping and putting the towel in the bowl.

“Turn around,” I said and he groaned as he changed his position, laying face flat on the bed.

I took out the towel and squeezed before gently using it to touch the back.

“Do you think they’re going to stop now?” I asked, dipping the towel into the bowl.

“I don’t know,” Xander replied with a muffled voice as his face was buried in the bed.

“If what they want from you is vital to whatever plan they have, they’ll keep coming with more force,” he added.

I shook my head as I gently placed the towel on an injury on his back. I didn’t feel happy that I would be the reason why the whole pack would be at alert or why the pack members would get hurt.

I could guess what most of them would be feeling. The whole pack was in danger because of Xander’s mate and a Vampire at that.

“Do you think you’ll get everyone’s full support?” I asked, but I got no response.

“Xander?” I called him, but he didn’t respond.

I put the bowl and the towel aside and looked at him closely. He had fallen asleep.

I nudged Xander a little so that he was sleeping on his side and I adjusted the pillow under his head before covering him with a blanket.

I took the bowl and the towel back to the bathroom and rinsed the towel, spreading it on the door.

I sighed as I closed the bathroom door and I looked at the time, it was 1pm.

I glanced at Xander’s reading table and saw a copy of the same Novel I was reading on it. He and Lena must have bought one copy each. I walked to the reading table and pulled the chair backward, sitting on it and picking up the book.

  *Perfect thrashing. Good job Nolan.

I glanced around and saw the workers nearby quickly look away.

I knew what they were thinking. Probably that it’s only been two weeks since I started with her.

Pfttt. She’s lucky she lasted so long. The only thing those women wanted was my money and some good f*ck. I can’t have them around for too long.

I glanced at Nathaniel, my butler and smiled lightly.

“Now you don’t have to hear her mock your bald head,” I said and climbed up the stairs, reaching for my phone in my pocket.

Evelyn was going to be having dinner with David and I can’t have that woman steal my client.

Not that I cared since I was literally compelled into taking over as CEO of Walter Corporation. It was a competition now and my image was at stake.

I dialed a number and held the phone to my ear.

“I want you to find out the location of Evelyn Bennett’s meeting with Mr. Rowland.”*

I glanced at the door as someone knocked on it. I made a mental note of the page I was on and closed the book before shifting the chair backward and standing up.

I glanced at Xander who was sleeping peacefully on the bed and I saw that the injuries were already healing up. They’ll become scars in an hour and disappear completely within a day at this rate.

I walked towards the door and opened it to see a maid at the door carrying a tray of food.

“Xander’s food?” I asked and she nodded, “Yes ma’am.”

“Okay, I’ll take it,” I said and collected the tray from her, “I’ll be having my lunch here too.” I stated and she nodded before walking away.

I closed the door and carried the tray towards Xander’s bed, setting it carefully on the table next to it.

I decided to not wake him up yet and let him sleep for a while so all the pains can disappear. When he wakes up, he’ll eat.

I walked back to the reading table so I could continue reading the book when someone knocked on the door again.

Maybe they were here with my food already, I thought and walked towards the door, opening it.

  It was Jenna instead.

“Jenna,” I said and walked out of the room, closing the door behind.

“Valerie, someone wants to talk to you,” Jenna said holding up her phone. I wasn’t able to bring mine here, but who could it be?

  “Who?” I asked.

  “Jordan.”
