Xavier.
I stared at the waters as the speed boat ripped through them, creating waves. The sun reflected on them making them beautiful.
I looked up as I saw the main land metres away with my Werewolf sight.
Finally.
The boat soon reached the shore and I alighted the boat, walking onto land.
I looked up as a car approached and came to a halt before me.
The door opened and Stefan stepped out of the car. He has already been informed I was coming and came to pick me up with a car.
Turned out Stefan was also a Werewolf.
“Morning Mr. Blade,” Stefan greeted and I regarded him with a nod, “Morning.”
I opened the door of the car and climbed in, putting my bag on an empty seat. Stefan climbed in too and ignited the car’s engine before driving off.
“Where are we going?” I asked, facing Stefan as he drove through the busy road.
“We’re going back to the company’s headquarters,” Stefan replied, “I’ve been asked to provide you with a vehicle and some other things so you can continue on your mission,” he added and I nodded before looking away and staring out the window.
The road was busy with cars and the sidewalks with passers-by. There were takk industrial buildings, restaurants, malls and shops on each side of the road.
All these humans were living their lives normally, without an idea of what the ones in power, at least the ones with full knowledge about Nexus Services were doing.
Without a knowledge of th devious plans they were brewing.
I’ve read several Science fiction novels about Government or some obsessed scientists trying to create a super race, an army or crazy unimaginable stuff.
Looks like Nexus Services was doing something like since they turned those humans into things stronger and faster than Werewolves or Vampires.
Whatever they were doing needed perfection cause those men seemed really unstable.
I sighed and leaned back into the chair, resting my head and closing my eyes. It was a long drive.
I opened my eyes as I felt someone tap my shoulders. I sat up and looked sideways to see Stefan standing outside the car.
I looked around and behind him to see the building of Crescent Consolidated Headquarters.
I looked at Stefan as I heard a jingling sound and I saw him holding the car keys towards him.
I stretched out my hands to collect it from him.
“When did we arrive?” I asked.
“About thirty minutes ago, but I didn’t want to disturb you,” he replied.
“Everything you need is in the bag behind. There’s a cell phone there too.” He pointed at a bag sitting on the back seat next to mine.
“Okay, thanks.” I said and he closed the door.
I put the key in the car and ignited the engine before driving away from the building, onto the main road.
I had one place in mind I needed to go. The place where I would be able to get those willing and able to support with.
I didn’t care who I would working with as long as we both had the same goal of bringing Nexus Services down.
I needed to go back to that Rebel camp and the drive to California would be a long one.
Valerie.
I glanced at the door to my room as someone knocked on it.
Who is it and I hope it’s something that’ll make my day interesting.
Since we got here, there has been nothing to do except sitting in my room all day and roaming the internet on my phone.
I stood up from the bed and walked towards the door, opening it.
It was Jenna.
“Jenna-“ I was surprised to see that she was out of the med bay already.
“Jenna, why did you leave the med bay?” I asked.
“The doctors said I was ready to leave thanks to the Vampire blood in my system, so don’t worry about it,” She said and I opened the door of my room wider for her to come in.
“Oh don’t worry, I’m not staying long. I just came here to tell you something,” Jenna said.
“What?”
“I’m leaving,” She replied and my forehead stretched in surprise.
What? What did she mean she was leaving. Where was she going and could she seriously leave me here?
“Jenna, what do you mean you’re leaving,” I asked.
“You heard me the first time Valerie, I’m leaving. I have to go find Nathan,” Jenna retorted with an indifferent tone and expression.
Why was she reacting this way? Jenna has never been so cold to me. Not ever.
“Jenna, it’s not safe for you to go out there and get involved with Nexus Services,” I tried my best to persuade her against going, afraid that she might put herself into trouble.
“Seriously, don’t lecture on what’s safe and what’s not safe,” she answered back and I scoffed.
“Jenna what’s happening? Why being so cold towards me,” I asked.
“Look Valerie, let’s all just pretend that none of this happened and that you’re not the reason Nathan is probably suffering in a damn laboratory right now,” Jenna said and I nodded, pressing my lips into a tight line.
Of course, that was the reason she was doing all of this.
“It’s okay that I even came here to inform you before leaving,” she added.
“Okay. Hmn. Okay,” I nodded with and pressed my lips back into a tight line.
“Take care,” I said as she walked away. I stood at the door and watched her follow Alfred who was waiting for her down the corridor.
He handed her a bag and she nodded at him before muttering a thank you to him.
As she walked out of the door, Alfred faced me and our met before I regarded him with a nod and walked into my room.
I slammed the door shut and sighed in frustration, resting my back on the door.
Why does all this happen to me. Why?
