Jenna..
I looked up as I spotted the smart Hotel I had lodged in when I first came to Washington in search of Valerie. Collin Hotel.
I slowly brought the car to a halt as I parked in the parking space while silently muttering prayers within me that there was a room.
I didn’t make any hotel reservation. I couldn’t.
I turned off the engine and retrieved the keys before climbing out of the car and closing the door.
I sighed hopefully and walked towards the door nodding at the guards as I walked in.
I walked towards the reception and got welcomed with a smile by the receptionist.
“Hello, ma’am, how may I help you?” The receptionist asked with a smile.
“I would like a room please?” I answered with a smile.
Please let there be a room, please let there be a room, I chanted within me.
“Alright ma’am, how long would you like to stay?” She asked and I sighed. It was such a relief to know I didn’t have to search for an hotel at at this hour.
“Ummm. I don’t know right now, but I’ll make a payment for three days,” I said with a smile and she nodded as I reached into my hand bag and took out a credit card.
I handed her the credit card and she collected it, processing the payment and handing the credit card and a keycard to me.
I received it with a nod and dropped the credit card in my bag.
“Room 101b, 8th floor,” the receptionist said and I nodded before walking away right after muttering, “Alright.”
As I walked to the elevator, I stopped briefly and looked left as I spotted a familiar face. It was that hot hotel attendant I met the first time I came here.
Memories of the things we did that night came up to my mind and I felt embarrassed.
He spotted me too and smiled at me seductively, but I returned it with a bleak smile and looked away before walking into an elevator.
I pressed the button to the 8th floor and waited for a while before the elevator’s hissed open.
I walked out of the elevator and glanced at both sides of the long corridor in indecision. I looked at the numbers on the two doors before me and I decided to go left.
I looked at the numbers on the door and stopped before my room. I swiped my keycard through the door and I walked into the room as the door opened.
I walked towards the bed and kicked off my shoes, dropping my bag and sitting on the bed with a loud sigh.
I remained sitting for a while as I thought about the long day tomorrow and everything I’d have to do.
I stood up again and picked up my bag, dropping it on a table close to the bed.
I raised my hands to my hair and removed the pin used to pack it, letting my hair fall down to my shoulder.
There were neat towels in the closet and I placed one of them on the bed before slowly taking off my clothes.
I went to the bathroom and had a quick bath before coming out with my body dried.
I dried my hair and took a brush from my bag, brushing through my hair before getting into a night gown.
I felt my stomach rumble loudly and I suddenly remembered that I had not eaten anything since I left the Island.
I walked to the telephone on the table next to my bed and I dialed room service.
“Hello, I would like to place an for dinner to be delivered to my room,” I said and waited for the replu from the other end, “yes……..101b……yes…… ummmmm….. anything without pickles or avocados,” I ended the call and returned the telephone to it’s place.
I reached for my phone in my handbag and sat on the bed, deciding to pass time with browsing the internet while I waited for the food to be delivered.
I remained scrolling through my phone for about 7 minutes when someone knocked on the door.
It must be the food I ordered. I dropped my phone and stood up to answer the bed, adjusting my hair properly.
I opened the door and looked surprised for a moment to see who it was holding the tray of food in his hand.
“Hi,” He smiled at me and I swallowed nervously.
“Hi.” I croaked out. He stared at me inquiringly and I nodded.
“Oh yeah, I’ll take that,” I said and stretched out my hand to take the tray of food from him.
He reluctantly let me take the food and I avoided his gaze as I walked into the room and dropped the tray on a table.
I looked over my shoulder secretly and I could somehow feel his gaze lingering on me.
I reached into my bag and searched through it, looking for the cash I kept there so I can tip him.
I found the cash and counted some bucks before turning around. I gasped as I turned I nearly collided into the man standing before me.
I didn’t tell him he could come in.
I swallowed and moved backward a little. I stretched the money towards him and he glanced at my hand.
He refused to take the money from me and he looked at me.
“Jenna, we didn’t get to talk the last time you came here and I missed you so much,” he said and I moved backward more, folding my arms across my chest and avoiding a direct eye contact with you.
“I’m done with my shift now and I decided to take this last assignment when I saw you,” He continued and I swallowed before looking up at him.
“Okay, look, I don’t know what you expect, but don’t put your hopes high,” I said and I looked at his face pale at my words.
He looked hurt, but I didn’t mean to. I was with Nathan now and moreover, I can’t do anything at this point, not when Nathan is in trouble.
Hmmm. Why do I even feel sorry for him, I was never like this before.
“I have a lot on my plate now and I have to find my fiancee,” I lied hoping he would understand. There was a truth to that though.
“I don’t mean to hurt you, but I hope you can understand,” I added.
He remained silent for a while before nodding and muttering an okay.
“Thank you.” I stretched his tip back to him, but he only swallowed before slowly walking towards the door. He took one last glance at me before walking out of the room.
I walked towards the door and closed it, sighing loudly.
He’s hot and he seems like a nice guy, but I can't be so irresponsible.
