Jenna.
I stirred out of sleep as I heard my alarm ring. I sighed in frustration and stretched out my hands, searching for my phone on the table next to my bed.
I finally felt my phone and I grabbed it, holding it to my face.
I switched off the alarm and dropped the phone. I stood up a while after and stretched out my hands, yawning loudly.
I glanced at my phone on the bed again and picked it up. I noticed something earlier.
I checked and saw that I had several missed calls. Who could it be?
I was about to call back the number and find out who it was, but then I realised that it could be Valerie.
I didn’t think I was ready to talk to her. I felt a bit guilty as I remembered how u reacted to her yesterday.
Things weren’t also easy for her, but I had blamed her for everything that happened.
Nathan wouldn’t be in trouble if everyone was not trying to protect her from Nexus Services, but I also wouldn’t have met Nathan at all if none of this happened.
I felt a stinging pain in my eyes and I quickly blinked back the tears. I needed to get ready on get on with everything I planned for today.
I dropped my phone on the bed and took of my night gown. I took my towel and walked to the bathroom to take a quick bath. I came out again and I packed my hair into a neat ponytail, changing into a new dress, and doing my makeup.
I picked my phone on the bed and dropped it in my hand bag before walking out of the room and closing the door.
I walked into the nearest elevator that took me to the ground floor. As I walked to the door, I glanced around to see if I could spot the room service guy.
It was probably not his shift.
I walked into the parking space and walked towards to my car. I reached for the car keys in my hand bag and opened the car’s door.
As soon as I ingnited the engine, I adjusted the side mirrors and drove out of the compound.
I was going back to DC and I needed to get the information I could at Internal Affairs.
Nico would be very useful in this kind of situation, but with the way I dumped him, I bet he’ll want to make me pay if he sees me.
I shrugged and pulled the gear, driving at full speed. I pulled it off before and I can do it again.
About thirty minutes later, I arrived at the internal affairs building and I pulled up slowly.
I sighed hopefully and grabbed my hand bag, opening the door and climbing out of the car. I locked the door and dropped the car keys in my bag before walking towards the building.
All I needed was to find the exact facility Nathan was moved to and then I’ll have to think of a way to get him out of there. I actually had the information I needed, but the flash drive and my laptop was back at the Moon Edge Pack.
I looked at the guards before the door and I sighed in frustration as I realized I didn’t have my security clearance. The one given to me by Nico when we were still together.
It was also back at the Moon Edge Pack. There wasn’t time to grab some things we needed that day.
I swallowed nervously and continued walking towards the door with a confident expression on my face.
I stopped before the guards and they looked at me inquiringly like they wanted me to show them my security clearance.
“Your clearance,” one of them requested in a thick voice.
“I’m sorry, but I was in a hurry and I really need to see Mr. Russo,” I said with a persuading expression.
They both stared at me without bu
“Come on, I recognize the two of you and you know I and Nico are together,” I said and they glanced at each other.
I was afraid that they wouldn’t allow me when I heard a voice behind me.
“What’s happening here?” I turned around to see Jack and he was holding a briefcase.
He looked surprised to see me, but he quickly smiled at me.
“Jenna,” He said and the guards opened the door for him to come in.
I followed him in and we walked towards an elevator.
“It’s been long I saw you here,” he said and I nodded with a smile as the elevator’s door closed.
“Yes, I went on a business trip. Didn’t Nico tell you?” I asked and he gave a negative nod.
“I came back yesterday and I came here straight this morning,” I added, “is he around?”
“He resumed this morning, but he had to quickly go somewhere,” Jax replied and walked out of the elevator as the doors opened.
Just what I needed. Nico was higher in position than Jax so he would have access to more information than Jax.
I followed him into the executive floor and he stopped before Nico’s office.
“It’s good to see you Jenna, you can wait in his office before he comes,” Jax said and I nodded before he walked away.
I walked into Nico’s office and quickly closed the door.
I walked to his desk and switched on the computer on the desk.
There was a password. Yes, I know his password, but that was a long time ago and he could have changed it.
I shrugged and quickly entered the password. Fortunately, it was the right password and I quickly navigated to his files, searching the word, “Nexus Services.”
I waited for the search results, but it was all blank.
What? There was no file or folder with the Nexus Services name.
I sighed in frustration and went to his hidden folders, but there was also nothing like that. I quickly switched off the computer and walked out of the office.
I found those information on Jax’d computer and if Nico was higher in rank, how come he didn’t have.
I walked towards Jax’s office and I saw him talking to someone by the door to his office.
The person left and as Jax was about to enter his office, he saw me and stopped.
“Jenna, are you leaving?” Jax asked.
“Yes.” I nodded, “I have a meeting with a client, so I’ll come back in the afternoon,” I said and he nodded.
I walked past him and was about to open an elevator when Jax talked.
“Jenna, what are you up to?”
