Chapter 62

  Jenna..

I kept glancing left and right as I drove through the streets of Washington. This was where I grew up. Valerie too.

The two of us became friends here and bonded here before we moved to Los Angeles.

We planned to stay there for a while and explore other things before coming back. I began to wonder if things would have different if we didn’t come here.

Everyone we knew was here and what were we thinking when we decided to leave.

I glanced at my bag sitting on the empty seat next to me. I now knew where Nathan was being kept, but that was not all. That facility contained specially selected prisoners ready to be taken to laboratories and there were documents that could be used as evidences against Nexus Services.

All I needed was a way to break into that facility.

  I needed man power.

I looked at the street I was again and nodded as I saw that I was close to where I was going to. I’m going to ask for the help of the one person I could think of and he was also the person who would be least ready to help at all.

It was Jordan, Valerie’s brother. I had to find a way to convince him. Even though he had a grudge against Valerie, she was still his sister.

I turned into another street and looked at the both sides of the road so I wouldn’t drive past Jordan’s house. I could barely remember where he lived since I’ve been here only once or twice. The times I went to his house was when Valerie got into trouble or needed help.

He would always follow me reluctantly, but their relationship has gotten even more strained over time since Valerie completely moved out of the coven.

I can’t blame her. Attacks on the Coven got more frequent and she wanted to live a normal peaceful life.

I looked up as I got close to Jordan’s apartment. I slowed down as I got to the drive way and I pulled up before Jordan’s house.

I turned off the engine and took out the keys before climbing down and closing the door.

I stared at the wooden entrance door for a while before letting out a deep breath.

I just hope that he is around.

I walked up to the front porch and climbed up the short stairs that led to the entrance. I breathed again and pressed the door bell.

I waited for a while after the door bell rang and there was no reply. I looked around to see if there was any neighbour watching so I could ask if he was at home.

He could be at the Coven.

I pressed the door bell again and waited for a while. I sighed in frustration and decided to ring the doorbell again.

Before I could press it, the door clicked open and I saw Jordan appear through the small opening of the door.

He looked surprised to see me and I waved my hand at him, mouthing an ‘hi’

“Jenna,” he said and stared at me inquiringly.

“Can I come in?” I asked and be remained silent for a while, hesitation in his eyes.

He sighed lightly before opening the door wider and he walked away.

I walked into the house and closed the door behind and Jordan went to sit on a couch.

“I’m sorry, did I disturb you. It looks like you were sleeping,” I said and dropped my bag on a couch.

Jordan sighed again and placed his hand on his neck, twisting his neck to both sides.

“It’s nothing, sit down,” he said and pointed at the couch opposite him. I nodded and went to sit down.

  “Thank you.”

“So why are you here? What trouble did Valerie get herself into this time?” He asked, sounding irritated.

“It’s not Valerie who needs your help Jordan,” I said and he looked curious to hear what I had to say.

“It’s me. I need your help,” I stated and Jordan looked even more curious..

  “What’s it?” He asked.

“I need your help break into a government facility,” I explained, trying to imagine how he would react to this.

“The F*CK Jenna?!” He yelled and I sighed. Maybe I should have said it in a more subtle way.

“I’m not a criminal!” He yelled and I signalled him to reduce his voice.

Some nosy neighbours might be listening and I didn’t want there to be any hindrance in this mission.

“No Jordan, you’re not committing a crime, you’re preventing one,” I said and I knew I had gotten him confused by the way he stared at me.

How does one stop a crime by breaking into a facility owned by the government, he must be thinking.

“You’re preventing Nexus Services from bring horrors in movies to life and from exterminating the supernatural race,” I continued.

“Extermination???.... Wait….Nexus Services?” Jordan looked so confused and his mind was probably swelling with questions.

“Aren’t those the security force for arresting Supernatural criminals?” He asked.

“Yes, and no,” I replied, “Jordan, Nexus Services are much more than the public knows.” I continued and his eyes locked on mine as if he was going to read all the knowledge off my mind.

Vampires can’t do that right? Who knows.

“They are using Vampires and Werewolves to carry out experiments. Jordan, they are building weapons stronger than and lethal to supernaturals,” I said and I could see that he was interested in knowing more.

“Last week, they sent some men who were stronger and faster than Werewolves and Vampires to retrieve Valerie,” I continued.

“What? Is Valerie okay?” He asked in concern.

See? I said it. No matter how much grudge he had against Valerie, she was still family and he would always care about her.

“Nexus Services wants her in particular for unknown reasons, but yeah, she’s okay,” I said and shrugged. I still couldn’t point out why they needed Valerie. None of the files I got from Nico had information about that.

“Jenna, why are you doing this?” Nico asked, “why are you here?”

I remained silent and faced my hands, intertwining my fingers.

“Well you know Valerie is mated to Werewolf right?” I asked.

“Yes, she mentioned it when she visited mom,” he replied, “I just pity her cause those savage beasts won’t accept her.” He faced me for an explanation.

“When they attacked the pack, they arrested someone,” I said, feeling embarrassed.

  “Hun?”

“Nathan, the Beta of the pack,” I stated and I saw Jordan burst into laughter. He suddenly stopped laughing and faced me with a teasing smile.

“Ha! You fell in love with a Werewolf,” Jordan laughed again, “you’re so stupid.”

“Shut up.” I grabbed the chair pillow next to me and threw it at him.

I expected him to dodge it at super speed, but he only caught it before him. I also noticed that he had been behaving tired since I came in.

“Jordan are you okay?” I asked and the smile on his face disappeared.

“For two weeks now, there has been scarcity of blood in the Vampire market,” he explained and I stared at him in surprise.

“Every blood bank and even animals are being infected with something that’s harmless to humans but will harm Vampires,” he explained.

  “Oh.”

“Jordan, all this is a work of Nexus Services and they won’t stop until they end all supernaturals,” I tried to persuade him and he stared into the air in indecision.

  “Fine.” He nodded, “I’ll help.”

“Good.” I smiled, “Let’s get you some blood to regain strength and get on with this.”
