“You’re crazy,” I said, gritting my teeth and he smirked.
“I know.”
We needed to get out of here now. The cops could be on their way here. I just hope that none could relate me to whatever happened now. Didn’t want to become a ‘wanted’ person.
I waved down a cab and the cab pulled up before the both of us.
“Minnesota,” I said and opened the door of the cab. I hopped in and Jordan climbed in next, closing the door.
The driver continued driving and I sighed. I just had my first ever car chase. Such a record.
Thanks goodness Lycian had the plate number of that car removed before I left. The cops could have had it traced and it’ll put the life of everyone in danger cause I’m sure Nexus Services had their noses stuck in everything happening right now.
They wouldn’t stop until they get their hands on Valerie for God-knows-what reasons. They were really unrepentant.
I faced Jordan and he smiled before looking out the window.
I needed to go to my house so I could get another car to aid our transport. It has been long since I’ve been home and the workers there would be surprised to see me.
Well, they would probably be enjoying their lifes since there would be no work to do, no one to shout at every thing they do, and still get their automatic payment every months.
“Why didn’t Valerie follow you?” Jordan asked and I faced him.
“It’s dangerous for her to be out now, Nexus Services are probably searching every possible place for her,” I explained and he nodded.
“Jordan, have you perhaps ever noticed something different about Valerie from other Vampires?” I asked and he squeezed his face like he was trying to think of something.
He shook his head, “no.”
“Well, Nexus Services needs her for something. I checked their files and her name was put in a separate place as priority,” I said and Jordan looked surprised.
“What did Valerie get herself into?” Jordan asked.
“It’s not her fault. There’s just something about her that they want and I can’t seem to point my hands at it. She’s also clueless,” I said and Jordan looked away with concern in his eyes.
“Vampires have a lot of abilities, do you think she has an ability that’s rare among Vampires and they want her for that?” I asked as he faced me once again.
“She has never portrayed any special ability, I don’t think it’s because of that,” Jordan said and I didn’t have time to think much again as the driver asked a question.
“Where ma’am?” I looked out and saw that we were already in the street I lived.
“Number 6,” I said and he nodded driving further into the street. I soon saw my mansion up ahead and as he pulled up before the gate, I reached into my bag and paid him.
I looked at the gate and there was no one there.
“Sir, can you please sound the horn?” I asked and he nodded before pressing on the horn.
I climbed down from the car as I saw the gate open and I closed the door.
“Thank you,” I said and Jordan also climbed down from the car.
The guard that showed up at the gate looked surprised to me and I walked towards him.
“Good evening Miss. Lake,” he greeted and I regarded him with a nod before walking into the compound..
He closed the gate and I turned around to face him.
“Is anybody else at home?” I asked. I didn’t expect them to all be at work when I haven’t showed up in a long time.
I wouldn’t. I’ll only check in from time to time and clean the house, that’s all.
“Mrs. Bill is inside,” he said and I nodded.
“Good. Did you warm the engine of the car’s while I was gone?” I asked and glanced at the car’s parked a few metres away.
“Yes.”
“Okay, I’ll be taking the Mercedez out tomorrow morning, get it ready,” I instructed and he nodded.
“Yes ma’am.”
I pointed at the building and Jordan nodded, following me inside.
I sighed and breathed in the air as I walked into the building. I dropped my hand bag on a couch and threw myself on another couch.
I was exhausted..
“Nice house,” Jordan said, glancing around.
“It was my parents’” I said also looking around. I was the only child of my parents and when my father died, my mom moved to London with her new husband..
I took over all my father’s businesses..l
I looked in the direction of the kitchen as Mrs. Bill walked out of the kitchen. She looked surprised to see me and she stopped walking.
“Thank God you’re here,” I stood up and picked up my handbag.
“Prepare me and my guests something to eat,” I instructed and then faced Jordan.
“I’ll be right back,” I said and he nodded. I walked up the stairs and went into my room. I dropped my bag on the reading table and then and I grabbed the laptop on it. I reached into my bag and took out the flash drive there before walking out of the room.
I climbed back downstairs and placed the laptop on the centre table, powering it on. I inserted the flash drive and went to the folder containing Nevis Services file.
“What’s that?” Jordan asked and I dragged the table close to the couch he was sitting on, sitting next to him.
“I copied all the files I could get on Nexus Services and I have the blueprint and layout of the facility where Nathan is,” I said and double clicked on the file containing it.
“If I’m right, they also have files containing evidences their illegal activities,” I said and he faced me briefly before looking back at the screen.
I navigated through the entire layout and stopped the cursor on the path we’ll use to get in.
“We’ll go in through this place and you’ll have thirty seconds to zoom towards this area and shut off the power source of the detectors and the EMP,” I stated.
“EMP?” Jordan asked..
“Yes, they developed something that can shut off the power of Vampires and Werewolves within a 1000 metre radius and it is activated as soon as the detectors sense supernatural presence,” I explained.
“They wouldn’t notice it since the power source is used for only those two things. After that, we can sneak around to get Nathan out and take the evidences,” I continued and Jordan nodded.
“It’s late already,” he said.
I nodded, “we’ll rest tonight and head out in the morning.”
