Chapter 67

  Xavier.

I groaned as I felt the chains bite into my skin..

“The Fuck Jordan!” I yelled as Jordan used he unstrapped the silver chains from my hand.

Turns out Jenna enlisted the help of Valerie’s brother and they came here to rescue Nathan.

I sighed in relief as my left hand also became free. I rubbed my hurting wrists and smiled at Nathan.

“I’m glad you’re safe.” I nodded and then faced Jenna, “you also did a good job.”

“Let’s do this later, we have to get out of her now,” Jordan said reaching into his bag. He took out a shirt and threw it at me.

I began to wear the shirt, following them out of the room. Jordan closed the cell door and set the door knob back in place even though a feather would knock it off.

“That way to the exit.” Jordan pointed in the left direction, but I stopped them.

“Wait,” they all faced me, “we have to save the men I came here with,” I said and Jordan sighed in frustration, shoving his hand into his hair.

“We can come back for the evidences, but we need to rescue them,” I said and watched Jenna and Nathan share glances.

“Let’s hurry up,” Jenna said and I nodded in appreciation before running towards the other cells.

I looked into each cell one after the other, looking for them. My cell was the only one with a full door because it was actually a torture room.

“Help up,” some of the prisoners pleaded and I looked at them in pity before continuing my search. We couldn’t do that or we might get caught.

Moreover, some of these prisoners are actually criminals.

I suddenly stopped as I spotted Dave and I looked into the cell to see three more of our men with him.

“Alpha Xavier,” Dave stood up from where he sat and came forward.

  Why were they together.

Maybe they had shortage of cells since they didn’t plan have prisoners.

Jordan held up a bunch of keys and I nodded, “the others should be here somewhere.” I checked the other cells and finally spotted Elijah and the three others in a cell.

I saw Jordan finally unlock the first cell and he walked towards me. He grabbed the lock, trying the keys before finally finding the right key and unlocking the cell.

They all walked out of the cell and Jenna hurried us, “let’s go. This way.”

We all began to run out of the building and as we stepped out of the compound, I faced the men from the rebel camp.

“You can all leave now, I’ll meet you at the camp,” I said and Dave nodded.

“Okay,” he said and nodded to the others. They immediately ran forward and leaped out of the fence.

“Let’s go too,” I faced Nathan and Jordan.

Nathan picked up Jenna and I was about to jump when I felt my supernatural force leave me.

  What?

I faced Jordan and Nathan and they had the same expression.

“I can’t feel my powers,” Nathan said and dropped Jenna.

“They have an EMP device that turns off your powers, we deactivated it, but they must have powered it back on,” Jenna explained and I gritted my teeth, subconsciously clenching my fists.

“We have to find a way out of here before the guards find us,” Jordan said and I nodded. We snuck to the other side of the building and we stopped as we saw three guards loading two trucks with some boxes.

They closed the door of the truck storage and walked back into the building. I faced the others and pointed at the trucks.

“Looks like they are going out, let’s hide in there,” I said and we stole towards the truck.

Jordan opened the storage door of the first truck and we quickly went in.

There were only few boxes there and there was enough space for the four of us.

I immediately pulled the doors closed and we all bent down, waiting for someone to come and drive the truck away.

I heard a slamming sound and I heard the engine of the truck come to life. I soon felt the truck begin to move and I sighed in relief.

I was relieved that Jenna didn’t get herself in trouble and she was able to safe Nathan. I hope she patches things up with Valerie.

Finally, I could go home to Valerie and plan our next line of action. Still, I couldn’t help but get a dreary feeling that all this was too easy.

  Valerie.

I stood up and walked towards the door as someone knocked on the door. I opened the door and it was Lycian.

“Lycian Hi,” I said and looked at the bag he was carrying.

“Hi,” he greeted and stretched the bag out towards me. I looked at it curiously before collecting it from him.

“I sent some men to the Moon Edge Pack to find out how things are going and they also helped to bring some things you left behind,” he said and I nodded.

“You and Jenna’s belongings are there. I dropped the remaining in Xavier’s room,” he stated and I nodded.

“Thanks,” I said with a smile and he returned it before walking away. I closed the door and walked towards my bed, dropping the bag.

I opened the bag and went through the things in it. I didn’t really have anything important there, unlike Jenna since she came to the pack prepared.

I spotted her laptop and brought it out, deciding to look through the Nexus Services file again.

I powered it on and entered her password, navigating to the files she showed us the other day.

I went to the files containing the inmates as I was curious to know the ratio of Vampires to Werewolves held captive. A file was selected at random the other day, but I clicked on the file containing the first five hundred inmates.

The first thing I saw on opening the file shocked me and my mouth was left hanging open. It was the name of the first inmate, subject 01, Lena Kidman.

Lena Kidman. That was the name of Xavier’s Mate.

Oh My God. Lena is still alive!

  Griffin

I stepped out of the car and carried by briefcase as I walked towards the building of Nexus Laboratory 01. I regarded the guards at every point with a nod as I made my way to Kealan’s office.

I grabbed the door knob and opened the door, spotting Kealan sitting by his desk and looking at his computer screen.

“How is everything?” I asked and he nodded, pointing at the computer screen. I walked over to him and looked at the security footage of the inmate chained in the observation room.

“Just as you wanted. Subject 01 is ready for use.” He said and I smiled.

Perfect. They thought they were smart, well let’s say they haven’t met me.

“Have the guards get out of the way. She needs to be found easily.”
