Valerie
I sighed in frustration as I held my phone to my ear and listened to it ring out. I have tried calling Xavier several times, but he isn’t picking his call.
I was getting so worried and I was afraid that something bad had already happened to him. I hit the bed I was sitting on and placed my left hand on my forehead.
Oh Xavier.
I began to imagine several things and several situations he could be in right now. What if he had been captured by those Bastards. They were very cunny and there could have set a trap for him.
I felt my breathing tense as I imagined them torturing him to tell them where I was.
I was actually calling him so I could tell him my findings about Lena, but now he was getting me worried.
Maybe he is in the middle of something, I thought, trying to get my mind off the fact that he could be in danger.
I glanced at the laptop on my bed and my mind went to Lena. Lena didn’t die all those years ago and Nexus Services had discovered about Supernatural presence before the blood flu apocalypse.
Turns out, someone found her on the battle field that day and since then, they began to experiment on her since they found her strange.
Lena was the first Supernatural that the government found, but they probably thought she was a mutant out of the Sci-fi movies until the apocalypse happened more than a year ago and they found out Werewolves and Vampires existed.
I thought about Xavier and his nightmares. Could that be why he keeps having those disturbing nightmares. Maybe it was the mate bond trying to pull him towards her.
I actually felt pity for her as I thought about everything she would have gone through in the hands of those scientists.
I picked my phone and tried calling Xavier again. Just like the previous times, he didn’t pick it and the phone rang out.
I sighed and stood up from the bed, dropping my phone. I walked to the dressing table and adjusted my hair, looking into the mirror.
I walked out of the room. I glanced at the door and saw Lycian talking to Albert.
“……..we’ll be back soon,” I picked up what he was saying with my enhanced hearing and I walked towards them.
Albert gave me a nod as he left and I returned it before facing Lycian.
“Where are you going?” I asked.
“Valerie, Xavier just called and I’m going to pick him on the mainland,” Lycian said and I sighed in relief, knowing that he was safe.
“I tried calling him though.” I shrugged.
“He lost his phone, but he’s with Jenna and they found Nathan,” he said, looking happy. So that’s why.
“Okay, let’s go,” I said and he looked at me inquiringly.
“Lycian, I’m going with you,” I said, determined not to agree even of he refused. I have been so worried about Xavier and I want to see him.
He remained silent for a while before nodding, “Okay, let’s go.”
I smiled and looked at what I was wearing. It was good enough to attend even an executive function.
It made me wonder whose clothes these were and who owned the room I was staying in. I followed Lycian out and he unlocked his car. I opened the door next to the driver seat and I got in. Lycian got in too and I looked over my shoulder as another man sat in the back seat.
Lycian ingnited the engine and drove out the drive way, driving onto the road between the pack houses.
In 15 minutes, the car slowly came to a halt and I looked at the two helicopters up ahead.
I opened the door as Lycian did and I stepped out of the car, gently closing the door.
He threw the car keys to the third man in the car and he stepped out, climbing into the driver’s seat. He restarted the car and Lycian walked towards the helicopters. I followed him and climbed after him into the helicopter.
The doors were closed and I looked at the pilot as he pressed buttons I didn’t know one bit about.
I felt the helicopter begin to move and we soon lifted up the ground. I looked out the window and looked at the island below look smaller and smaller before disappearing out of sight as there was now only a body of water below.
I sighed and rested my head on the sit. I wasn’t sure how I would break the news of Lena still being alive to Xavier or how he would react to it.
I just knew that we had to save her and take her away from the hands of those obsessed scientists. I didn’t want to think about what would happen after we eventually did.
I just hoped that she was way nicer than the fake Lena that showed up at the Moon Edge Pack. That Lycan really made my life a living hell.
I don’t know why I felt it was Gina who was responsible for what that Lycan did. It happened one week after she was banished and neither Xavier or Nathan recognized that Lycan in his real form so he must have been sent by someone with a personal grudge against them and most especially, me.
I was lost in thought and I didn’t notice that we were descending already until we landed. I looked out and we were still in the air so we had most likely landed on the rooftop of a tall building. The door was opened and I followed Lycian down.
I moved away from the helicopter and looked at the other tall buildings in the area. I looked down at the streets and I swallowed.
I didn’t know I was afraid of heights probably because I haven’t been so high up in the ground before.
“Come.” Lycian tapped me on the shoulder and I followed him down a flight of stairs that lead to a door. He brought out keys from his pocket and he opened the door, revealing the same office we had waited in the other day.
I looked at the faces in the room and I looked surprised to see my brother, Jordan, but more importantly, I was shocked to see the one person I didn’t expect to see.
Lena.
