Valerie.
“Lena!” I gasped and she faced me, “you found her already,” I said and Xavier looked at me inquisitively.
“I tried calling you after finding out, but you didn’t pick the call,” I explained and he nodded. Beside me, Nathan stood up and went to hug Lycian.
“I lost my phone when I was captured,” Xavier explained. I didn’t realize that he had really gotten into trouble, but I was glad that he was safe.
“It was Jenna who found me and Nathan,” he explained and I faced Jenna. She smiled bleakly and I returned the smile as I remembered how things had ended before she left.
“Jordan helped,” she said and Jordan stood up, walking towards me.
He smiled at me and I returned the smile. I didn’t expect that he would help Jenna when it involved me or that he would even look happy to see me.
Last time I went to the Coven, he didn’t look happy with me at all, but maybe he was grieving mom’s condition and needed someone to vent his feelings on.
“She told me what happened. I’m glad you’re safe,” he said and pulled me into a hug. I was surprised for a while before I wrapped my hands around him.
I felt happy that I had a chance to be with my brother again and that he wasn’t angry with me. I broke the hug and faced Lena. She was awfully quiet and she was pale.
“We found her in one of their laboratories,” Xavier said and I faced him trying to know what he was thinking or feeling right now.
I couldn’t get anything off his expression as he was looking the same as always.
“Xavier, she has been there since the day you thought she was there,” I said and I sat on the couch next to Lena. Xavier glanced at her and I saw one emotion flash in his eyes for a split second; pity.
“Lycian retrieved some of our of things from your pack and I went through the files Jenna showed us the other day,” I explained.
“The government found her and she had been the first and sole experiment subject for so many years till the apocalypse exposed the rest of us,” I continued and Lena faced me before looking away.
She didn’t look like she was ina right state of mind. Her eyes carried no emotions and she stared blankly into the air.
Something seemed off about her, but it’s probably because of all these years of isolation and torture at the hands of Nexus Services.
The door of the office opened and I glanced at it as Lycian’s personal assistant, Stefan walked into the room.
He looked at all of us before walking towards Lycian.
“There’s a business associate waiting to see you,” he whispered into Lycian’s ear and Lycian nodded.
Stefan looked at all of us again and regarded us before walking out of office.
“Excuse me,” Lycian said before following Stefan out of the office. I watched the door close and I sighed, leaning into the chair I sat on.
“I have to get something for Lena to wear.” Xavier stood up from his seat.
Yes. Lena was dressed in a blue straight coat that looked like a general uniform.
“I’ll go with you,” Nathan said and Xavier nodded before facing me and also smiling bleakly. He walked towards the door and Nathan followed after, the two of them walking out of the room.
I glanced at the three faces in the room and sighed, closing my eyes to rest. There was silence for a while before Jordan finally spoke.
“So Xavier’s old mate is here. What happens?” He asked and I muttered a curse beneath my breath. He shouldn’t have brought up an issue I wasn’t ready to talk about.
“Lena-“ I heard Jenna call Lena and I opened my eyes. What was she doing?
“Lena, do you still feel your mate bond with Xavier?” Jenna asked and I faced Lena, waiting for an answer. Her expression as the same blank one and she didn’t look like she heard Jenna’s question.
Suddenly, Lena stood up on her feet and I looked up at her. She turned around and faced me with a piercing gaze.
What?
She suddenly grabbed me with force and brought me to my feet.
“Lena?” I asked, whining in pain at the force of the hold. She was so strong.
The next thing she did was lift me up and she slung me over her shoulder.
“Lena, what are you doing?” I struggled for her to get me down, but she felt so strong even for a Werewolf. It felt the same as those men who attacked the Moon Edge Pack.
Jordan and Jenna stood up and before I knew it, Lena rushed towards the stairs.
“Valerie!” Jordan yelled and zoomed towards us to save me, but Lena turned around and hit him with a single hand.
He groaned as he went flying across theroom and smashing into the wall.
Lena ran up to the roof and I screamed for her to drop me, “Lena!” I continue struggling and she refused..
She suddenly jumped into the air and I screamed my throat out as she jumped down from the roof to the streets below.
Xavier.
I and Nathan came out of the elevator to the ground floor. Everything that was on my mind was what I would do. I didn’t know what Valerie was feeling right now, but I knew I would never leave her.
I wouldn’t do anything similar to what happened with the Lycan and moreover, I can’t feel any bond with Lena.
All I felt was pity for her and all the things that she has been through.
I suddenly stopped walking and I checked my pocket. Nathan stopped too and looked at me.
“Do you have any money on you?” I asked.
“No.”
“But Jenna can give us some,” he suggested and I nodded. We walked back to the elevator and it took us up to the executive floor.
The elevator hissed open and we walked out of the elevator, heading back to Lycian’s office.
I suddenly heard someone scream Valerie’s name and I glanced at Nathan. We ran towards the office and I saw Jenna run out. She stopped as she saw us and she pointed at Lycian’s office with a scared look that got me worried and afraid.
“Jenna what happened?” I asked as she panted.
“Lena. She abducted Valerie.”
