Chapter 71

  Xavier.

I zoomed through the road at full speed, going as fast as I could. Nathan was a little behind me while Jordan was ahead of us.

Lena was so much faster, but I could see her thanks to Werewolf sight.

I couldn’t believe what just happened. What’s wrong with Lena. Why in the heavens did she abduct Valerie.

Of course, the answer was there. Nexus Services. All those years of carrying out experiments on her and they must have figure out a a way to mess with her mind.

I felt regret within me as I thought of how things would have been different if we had not left Lena alone. There was nothing I could have done.

She was impaled by a silver plated Vampire wing and she fell down dead. At least, that’s what we thought.

The Vampires kept trooping in since they had collaborated with other Covens and if we didn’t leave, they would have killed us all.

I should have known that something was off from the very beginning. After Bale left the torture room, all the guards seemed to disappear and it was so easy to break out the rest of the rebels.

Those trucks also appeared there and the guards who were supposed to be watching it went into the building.

We also arrived at the laboratory and there was no one to stop us. How did I ever think that a facility owned by Nexus Services and containing several research works would be left unguarded or wouldn’t have any kind of detection device.

I let my self get so carried away and it was because of that urge that kept drawing me towards Lena. I should have known that they planned all of this.

They somehow have a way of controlling he rmind and they used her so they could get to Valerie. Lycian’s helicopter was following is in the air and Jenna was with him.

We need to get Valerie before Lena can take her to Nexus Services. I would be so much faster in my Wolf form, but it was complicated enough for people to see men running like the wind on the road.

Jordan on the other hand appeared like a blur as he went after his sister while I found it hard to see Lena even with enhanced sight.

I felt Nathan create a telepathic mindlink with me and I kept running.

“There’s a short cut I can take to cut her off from the front,” I heard Nathan’ voice in my head and I looked up, seeing how far Lena has gone.

Any shortcut would be of a good advantage now.

“Take it,” I said and immediately, I saw Nathan brush past me and drift into another road while I continued running.

The road was getting less busy and there were less industrial buildings in sight.

I was afraid that Lena would meet Nexus Services at a particular place and we wouldn’t be able to catch her before then.

I was afraid that Nexus Services would be waiting with more of those enhanced men or enhanced supernaturals and there would be nothing we could do about it.

“I’m approaching her now,” Nathan’ voice echoed in my head again and I began to run even faster, pushing my limits despite knowing that I would pay for this.

I looked up as I saw a figure far off suddenly hit Lena with full force and at the speed it was going. Lena went flying into the air and Valerie landed on the floor.

Jordan suddenly stopped running and stood before Valerie. The helicopter flying above stopped, hovering over us.

I also stood before her and watched as Lena stood up on her feet.

“Lena, stop this nonsense,” I pleaded persuasively hoping that she would come to her senses.

“Surrender the target,” she growled and she suddenly dashed at me. Before I could defend myself, she smacked me in the face and I groaned, flying away.

I groaned harder as I crashed to the floor and I watched Lena try to grab Valerie.

Jordan got in the way and he grabbed Lena’s hand, moving at super speed. He pulled her towards him before swifly planting a kick in her abdomen that managed to make her stagger backward. Nathan also attacked from behind and kicked her leg, making her bend forcefully to her knees.

I also didn’t expect a recovery until about 5 seconds, but almost immediately, she got up and threw her elbow to the back, smashing Nathan in the face. Nathan cried and just as he recovered from that, she faced him, grabbed his neck and threw him on the floor. He grunted loudly as he crashe on the floor next to me.

That instant, she dashed at Jordan and threw a punch up his jaw.

I heard the sound of bone cracking and he groaned as he flew up into the air, landing back in the same spot he was, his back smashing against the ground.

“Uuuurghh,” he groaned and I heard another bone cracking sound.

Lena walked towards Valerie and tried to grab Valerie, but Valerie moved backward. She tried to zoom out of the way, but Lena was way faster and she kept blocking Valerie’s way.

Valerie stopped moving and grunted as she threw a punch at Lena’s face. Before her fist could hit Lena, Lena grabbed her fists and squeezed it.

Valerie cried as her fist bones gave way in Lena’s grip and her bones cracked loudly. I grunted as I stood up from the floor and before Lena could once again sling Valerie on her shoulder, I wrapped my arm around her neck from behind.

“Lena, end this now. Don’t let them control you,” I said, tightening my arms around her neck and she began to choke.

Suddenly, she threw her leg backward, hitting my manhood with her leg and I cried as in let her go.

“Leave me!” Valerie struggled as Lena tried to carry her, but Lena suddenly snapped Lena’s neck, killing her. Temporarily. Vampires could only die by a stake through the heart, a dismembered head, ripped out heart or burning to ash in fire.

She slung Valerie lifeless body over her shoulder and I staggered forward weakly to stop her, but she hit me again, pushing me backward.

“Valerie,” I said weakly and stretched out my hands. Lena made a move to run, but she has barely taken a stride when I saw large silver plated wings sprout out of Jordan’s back and stab Lena through the heart from behind.

Lena froze in her position and Valerie’s body fell off her shoulder, but I saw Nathan run forward to catch her.

I watched as Lena fell to her knees on the floor before falling flat to the ground, dead.

  Lena!
