Chapter 76

  Xavier.

We continued running towards the building and I raised up my hand for everyone to stop moving.

“We have thirty seconds so we have to do this together,” I said and they all nodded in affirmation.

I stretched out three of my fingers and folded one in, then the other. As soon as I completed the count down, we all leaped up together, jumping over the tall fence and landing in the compound quietly.

Immediately, one of the two Vampires zoomed away and in 10 seconds, he came back and stopped, the breeze blowing my hair backward.

I stared at him inquiringly and he nodded in confirmation. I waited to see if the alarms would blare like before, but when it didn’t, I sighed in relief.

  Let’s get this over with.

I walked forward and quietly stole towards the door. The door knob had been repaired since the last time we came here. It was silver

This is so gonna hurt, I thought as I grabbed the door knob and twisted it. I winced in pain and continued until the door knob had moved out of position and the door opened.

I could have simply jabbed the door with my elbow or kick it, but it would cause noise and attract unwanted attention.

I looked at my palm and there was a deep painful gash in it. I shrugged and signalled to the others for us to continue moving.

As soon as I opened the door wider, I walked in and my eyes widened in surprise as I spotted a guard standing down the corridor.

Fuck! They changed their security arrangement!

He spotted and my eyes darted to his hand moving to the walked talkie in his combat belt.

I suddenly felt something brush past me like a rushing wind and by the time I blinked, one of the Vampires was pinning the guard against the wall and covering his mouth with his right palm.

Once again, Vampires are damn fast.

Someone closed the door back and we ran towards him and I faced Nathan. He nodded, knowing what he had to do and he stepped in front of the guard.

When I said a less clumsy job, I meant not leaving unconscious bodies that someone else would find and alert everyone.

Nathan locked eyes with the guard and the guard looked like he was transfixed to a spot. The Vampire let go of him and the guard still remained standing and staring into Nathan’ eyes..

“Forget what just happened. You didn’t see us and no one broke into this place,” Nathan said in a convincing tone and the guard nodded.

Nathan’ special power as a Lycan was compulsion, a rare Vampire ability.

He looked away and we walked away from the corridor, turning to the left fork.

We were not headed in the prison area so there was no heavy security in this direction.

This area was filled with mainly offices and storage rooms.

We were about to go into another corridor when a door opened. I quickly signaled them to wait and we stood still by the wall. A man dressed in a long white robe stepped out

He seemed to be talking to someone through an ear piece and he was looking at a file in his hand.

I tapped Nathan forward and made a gesture with my hand for him to come stay in front.

As the man passed by us, he stopped walking and faced us. Before he could react, Nathan locked his eyes with him and the man froze in position.

“Keep going. You didn’t see anything,” Nathan said softly and the man nodded before walking away.

We continued to walk down the corridor and I tried to remember the location of the safe room in the blueprint.

I looked at the corridor on my left and on my right before looking at the others behind. They also looked clueless.

Elijah reached into the bag he was carrying and brought out a scroll. He looked at it for a few seconds before muttering, “right.”

I nodded as he folded the scroll again and put it in his bag.

I turned right, walking even more slowly this time. We were getting close to the safe room and there was tendency for there to be guards around the corner.

The last security arrangement had and there were a lot of them. I’m sure it couldn’t get better and this time we can’t rely on Nathan’ compulsion ability.

He couldn’t compell so many people at once.

We all zoomed back to the former corridor as another office suddenly opened. I peeped to see a familiar face walk out of the office. That bald head and deceiving innocent face.

Bale walked in our direction with a smug smile on his face. He was probably off to do what he loved doing the most; torturing.

The ass really reveled in it.

Memories of all what he did to me came flooding back and I got filled with anger. I wished I could grab him right now and smash my fist into his face. I really did wish I could make him suffer, but now was not the time for that.

Nathan moved to the front again and as Bale passed by us, he stopped walking as he noticed us.

Nathan placed his hand on Bale’s shoulder and locked eyes with him. Bale looked stunned for a while before looking hypnotised.

“Forget all of this. Forget that you saw us and continue what you want to do,” Nathan said and Bale nodded.

I watched as he walked away before we continued walking towards the safe room.

Getting into the final part that led to the safe room, I spotted two guards and before they could make any move, I smashed my fists in one of them’s face and Nathan handled the other one.

They both dropped unconsciously to the ground and I looked up to see the Vampires dealing with two other guards down the corridor.

There were still two other guards standing directly before the door of the safe room and I watched Dave shoot them with dart guns.

“Get on with unlocking the door, we’ll take care of the bodies,” I said to Dave and Elijah and they nodded before hurrying towards the safe room.

I bent down and dragged one of the guards towards the safe room and Nathan dragged the other one.

As we got there, Dave and Elijah had already out some chemicals on the door as I watched as the lock melted down.

Dave pushed the door and it slowly creaked open. The bodies of the unconscious guards were dragged into the safe room before the door was closed. One Vampire was left outside so he could alert us about anything.

The room had thick walls like the ones back at the pack and there were shelves everywhere. Some contained beakers filled with chemicals and some contained files.

Dave took out his phone and took some pictures.

“Quickly, look for anything that’s important and incriminating,” I said and everyone walked to the shelves containing the files.

I walked towards one shelf and pulled out a file, looking through it. It contained the name of every inmate that had ever passed through here.

Wouldn’t do a thing, I thought and dropped the file on the floor. I took out another file and as I went through it, I looked sideways as I heard strange sounds at the other side of the door.

The door opened and the file fell from my hand as I saw Bale standing there with about 20 guards behind him and they were all holding huge silver ray guns.

  How….How? Nathan compelled him.

He smiled wickedly and glanced at the six of us one after the other.

  “Well, well, well.”
