Chapter 78

  Xavier.

I sat in the car next to Dave as he drove us back to the rebel camp. I looked out the window, staring into the air.

Now, it was clear why Nexus Services were so desperate to get their hands on Valerie.

Valerie was everything about their research. She was the key them stabilizing their research. They called them Super Soldiers or Rippers.

They were made with a combination or attributes and abilities from Vampires and Werewolves. They were then enhanced so they would be better than Werewolves and Vampires.

There was one problem though, they needed to be able to sustain them together in a body on the molecular level.

As a Hybrid, they could extract whatever was keeping two different abilities in her and use it to stabilize their researches.

Valerie never told me that she was part witch, but it didn’t look like she knew either.

I knew her mother was a Witch, but offsprings always ended picking one trait of the parents. Two races have never existed in one body.

If Valerie was an Hybrid, how come she had never manifested magical abilities. There had the be an explanation for all of this, but right now, I needed to focus on the mission I was in.

Now that we had successfully gotten incriminating evidences against Nexus Services, we would be able to bring them down and thwart whatever plan Griffin has brewing up.

I looked up as we arrived at the entrance of the forest. The car came to a halt and I waited for a while before opening the door and climbing down.

I slammed the door shut and I walked into the forest. I heard slamming of doors behind me and the others followed behind as we headed to the main camp.

I glanced at Nathan as he walked up to me.

“If Valerie is a Witch, how can she survive here?” He asked and I nodded. I really didn’t think of that.

“I don’t know, I’m really confused right now.” I shook my head and climbed over a thick fallen tree branch.

“It could be because she’s also part Vampire and Vampires don’t age,” Nathan stated and I pressed my lips into a tight line, nodding.

  Sounds reasonable.

“And it could also be because of whatever reason she also didn’t know she was a witch even before earth because magically toxic,” I added my opinion and he nodded.

I looked up as we neared the leaders house and I dropped the twig I was toying with.

The guards at the door regarded us with a nod before letting us into the house. I looked up the stairs to see Rudolph climbing down.

He was smiling widely. “This is a huge success and we can finally stop the terror of Nexus Services,” he said.

He glanced at the files Nathan was nodding and Nathan stretched it out to him.

Rudolph briefly flipped through the documents before closing it and looking at me.

“I’ll see photocopies are made and they get into the right hands,” he said and I nodded. I trusted that they would take necessary steps as they certainly couldn’t wait to get out of this bush.

“We’ll get in touch, but we have to be on our way now,” I said and faced Nathan. I nodded before walking out of the building, with Nathan following behind.

Dave escorted us out of the camp and we stopped walking as we got to the entrance of the forest.

“So, we’ll see later hungh?” Dave asked with a smile.

“Probably.” I returned the smile as I unlocked our car with the keys in my hand.

“Okay,” Dave said before walking away and disappearing into the forest.

I entered the car and Nathan joined me as I started the car. I took out my phone from my pocket before driving out of the forest path and entering the main road.

I kept my left hand on the steering and dialed Valerie’s number on my phone.

The phone rang out for a while without anyone picking the call. I and Nathan glanced at each other before I faced the phone again. I tried dialing the number again, but there was no response.

“Fuck! I’ve been getting this feeling that Valerie was in danger since this morning,” I said and pulled the gear, increasing the speed.

“You didn’t mention it!” Nathan raised his voice and I nodded, knowing I had fucked up real bad.

I tried dialing the number again as I drove at full speed.

  Griffin..

“…..okay. We’ll do something about it!” I yelled and dropped the phone in the pocket of my jacket. I climbed down the car as the driver parked in my compound.

I handed my Valet g my briefcase and loosened my tie as I walked up to the front porch.

I was getting frustrated already. First, Xavier and his group were able to save Valerie from Lena, next, some of the subjects started exploding or dying randomly and now they had gotten their hands on vital documents.

What was all this shit happening to me now!! I wouldn’t give up on my quest to erase all supernaturnals. Not after what they did to my wife and daughter.

I would avenge them and see to it that every last one of them was killed.

I looked up as my Butler, Henry walked out of the door and approached. He looked like he had something to tell me.

“Mr. Stufe, the president is on the line,” Henry said to my surprise. I didn’t expect that.

What could the president want to discuss with me on my personal home line.

I quickly walked into the mansion and I grabbed the telephone closest to the door. I put the line back on and held the telephone to my ear.

“Hello Griffin,” I heard the President’s voice echo out of the telephone.

“Evebin Mr. President,” I replied, curious about what he wanted to say.

“Griffin, some documents were presented before me and I saw everything you’ve been doing at Nexus Services-“ he started and I sighed in realization of what was happening.

Those bastards were already making their move.

  “Mr. President-“

“I have to say I’m really disappointed,” he said, voicing every word slowly, “first thing tomorrow morning, I want to see you at here.” He added..

“Mr.” He suddenly cut the call and I gripped the telephone tightly in anger.

“Aaaaaaaargh,” I screamed and swiped the telephone to the floor, shoving my fingers into my black hair.

I stopped a I heard my cellphone ring in my pocket and I quickly reached for it. It was Dr. Kealan.

I picked the call and I heard Kealan’s alarmed voice echo out of the phone.

“Mr. Stufe-“ he started and I waited for what he had to say.

  “Hello Kealan.”

“Mr. Stufe, soldiers have already begun raiding all our laboratories and secret prisons,” he said and I didn’t wait for what else he had to say before screaming again and smashing my cell phone against the wall.

No! I won’t let them do this to me.
