Jordan.
“The keys now!” Lycian shouted as he ran out of his room holding a Red Signum torch.
Anything called Signum had a connection to Magicians. Green Signum was their weakness and it prevented them from using magic. Red Signum on the other hand was used as a Magic detector to uncover gathering of Magicians.
Alfred quickly handed Lycian car keys and Lycian ran towards the door. I ran out of the building just as Lycian did and stooped before a car as he unlocked it.
I looked back to see Jenna run up to us and as I opened the door to enter, I stopped.
“Jenna, you can’t come with us,” I said with a disapproving expression and Jenna also looked like she wasn’t going to agree with me.
“No.” She shook her head, “I can’t just sit down here doing nothing when Valerie’s life might be in danger,” she said.
“Jenna, these are Mages and whatever combat skills you know is entirely useless,” I said persuasively and she crossed her arms over her chest.
“We’ll do everything we can to save Valerie, so she has to come back to see that you’re safe,” I added and Jenna already looked convinced.
“Fine. Stay safe,” she said and I nodded before climbing into the car. Two more men joined us in the car before Lycian ingnited the car’s engine and drove off.
I tapped my foot on the car subconsciously as we drove through the island. I was afraid of what Valerie might have gotten into.
If those crazy bastards so much as hurt her, I’ll make sure I make them pay.
I noticed the car finally came to an halt after about 45 minutes of driving around the island. I looked out the window to see an helicopter and Lycian turned off the car engine.
“They couldn’t have teleported over a far distance if they are not familiar with this place,” Lycian said and opened the door, climbing down.
I climbed down too and slammed the door shut, before following Lycian into the helicopter.
The two other men climbed and the door was closed.
The helicopter soon lifted off the ground and I looked out of the window watching as we moved farther and farther away from the island.
We were soon flying over a body of water and I rested my head on the seat, my mind thinking of all the possibilities of what might have happened to Valerie and why the Mages were interested in her all of a sudden.
I looked at the left and the Red Signum lamp in Lycian’s hand began to glow dimly. He also looked at it and we both glanced at each other.
We were close to wherever the Mages were gathered. I looked out to see that we were still flying over the sea. They must be gathered very close to the shore.
The glow of the lamp got brighter and brighter by the minute as we flew over the sea and I looked up to see the land several metres away.
Lycian seemed to be communicating with the pilot telepathically. The helicopter began to hover around the vicinity for a while before suddenly stopping as the lamp glowed in a shining bright red color.
I felt the helicopter slowly land to the floor and the door was opened. I climbed down after Lycian and I looked around. We were very close to the shore and all I could see as far as my eyes went was only sand and nothing else. The Red Signum could not be wrong, and of course, we were dealing with Mages here and they were very cunny creatures.
“They are here,” Lucian said and he reached into a bag he was holding. He took out a transparent bottle with a spray lid. It was filed with a green liquid, Signum..
Lucian raised up the bottle and sprayed the Signum into the air. Immediately, I began to see layers of the illusion peel off until there was a small old cabin standing right here at the shore.
I smirked and nodded at Lycian before stealthily walking towards the cabin
I walked up to the door of the cabin and as I tried to touch the door and open it, an invisible force pushed me backward, causing me to crash against the sand.
I looked at the infrared blue ripping around the cabin as it disappeared.
Crazy bastards.
Lucian sprayed the Signum into the air again and I watched as the shield fell. Lycian reached into his bag and handed the two other men a bottle of Signum spray. They nodded and turned to go through the back.
I grunted as I stood up on my feet and I followed Lycian into the cabin.
The cabin was dark and cold. The only light around were the scantly flamed candles here and there.
We stopped walking as Wizard approached us and he seemed surprised to see us. I zoomed forward to quickly take a hold of him.
“Celeste,” he chanted and I felt an invisible force throw me off my feet and fling me back at the door. I groaned as I crashed against the wooden door and I felt the entire cabin vibrate.
“Moticus.” He snapped his fingers, but before he could teleport away, Lycian dashed forward and sprayed the Signum into the air as he got close enough.
The blue spark on the Wizard’s finger died down and he frowned. Suddeny, he began to run and screamed, “intruders! Intruders!”
Hell no!
I zoomed forward and grabbed him.
Several Mages began to walk towards us and I quickly extracted my claws from my fingers, holding it to the Wizard’s neck.
I scoffed as I heard the Witches chanting slowly, but I suddenly began to feel my blood boil.
I groaned as I let go of the Wizard and It felt as if is was going to burn from the inside out. Lycian who attempted to spray the Signum into the air also began to groan.
He raised up his hand slowly and used it to support his other hand holding the bottle.
“It’s an illusion,” he croaked out those words and closed his eyes. He suddenly gasped and he no longer looked affected.
I on the other hand continued to feel my blood boil and I was unable to move. I didn’t have the mental will power he had.
Lycian suddenly sprayed the Signum into the air and I gasped as everything I had been feeling disappeared instantly.
The Witches stopped chanting as they became powerless. One of them suddenly held up a huge gun; a silver ray gun.
Where the hell did they get that?
They pointed it at us and I prepared to brace myself, the Witch groaned and fell down as someone smacked him from the back.
I looked up to see the two other men knock the Mages down and I smiled as I saw Valerie standing with them.
She also smiled and ran towards me, pulling me into a tight hug.
We broke the hug and I faced her, curious about what happened.
“Valerie, why did they abduct you?”
“They want to kill my baby,” she lamented bitterly.
“What?!” I and Lucian exclaimed in surprise at the same time.
“I’m pregnant. I’m carrying Xavier’s child.”
