Xavier.
My right hand was outside the car the car through the window and I tapped my fingers against the side of the car continuously.
“Do you think Valerie is in the clear now?” I asked and looked away from the window and facing Nathan.
“I mean, now that they have been exposed will Nexus Services finally leave her or do you think somebody else would just go after her because of who she is?” I asked.
I was unsure of what to think at this moment. Valerie was still ignorant of what she was, but I’ll inform her the moment I get back to her.
“She’s the first Hybrid that any of us or out predecessors have ever heard of so she’s doomed to be sought after,” Nathan replied straight up and that was what I thought too.
Now that I knew she was a Hybrid, I now what our children will be if we ever had. Hybrid? Vampire? Lycan? Werewolf?
I shrugged and decided not to think about it for now. She was not even pregnant now ams she has died before so she might not be able to give birth again.
I remembered Lena snapping her neck very clearly. Vampires who had been killed before couldn’t give birth since they were literally living dead.
Those born as Vampires had the opportunity to carry a child before they get killed at one point. Vampires who were turned couldn’t ever since the turning process involved death.
I suddenly tilted forward as the car suddenly stopped moving, the tires making a loud screeching sound.
My head would have hit the dashboard if not because of the seat belt strapped onto me.
I sat back up and Nathan did too, glancing at me.
I looked over my shoulder at the back of the car and I saw a man standing there. The man was looking at the ground near our car tires.
I faced Nathan and he switched off the car engine.
“I think we hit something,” Nathan said and he opened the door, climbing down and closing the door. I climbed down too and walked to the back to see what it was.
It wasn’t what we expected and I looked shocked as I saw the man holding the car up with one hand.
What? At full strength, a Werewolf could lift a car and a Vampire could do it anytime, but no one could carry it and stop a moving vehicle.
He slowly turned his head to face the both of us one by one with a death glare. He was extra pale and he was breathing heavily.
I suddenly realized what he was and watched as he let go of the car, letting it land on the floor.
“He’s a Ripper,” I said and Nathan immediately moved backward. I slowly moved backward too and I watched as claws extracted from his fingers.
There were twice as long as normal, but the most outstanding thing was the glitter and the reflection of sunlight on them.
They looked metal!
He growled and suddenly charged at me. I also let out my claws and fangs, my eye turning red.
I growled back at him and raised my hand to counter him as he slashed his claws at him.
His claws met mine and I could swear that I saw a spark and I felt my claws almost break off.
He slashed at me again, but I bent down and tried to slash his legs with my claws. One second, my claws were almost touching his legs and the next, I felt his claws stab me at the back from behind. Damn he was so fast that I felt the pain before realizing he was no longer standing in front of me.
I cried in pain and slowly stood up on my feet in pain. I watched as my side bleeded and I pressed my hand against it to prevent it too much blood from flowing out.
I knew he had punctured something important with those claws as pain ripped throughout my upper body.
I groaned as I turned around to face the Ripper and he a raised up his hand to strike me again. Before he could hit me, Nathan hit him from behind and the Ripper panted heavily, turning around to face Nathan in rage.
Nathan was holding two long silver daggers he had quickly gotten from the car while the Ripper was facing off against me.
He grunted as he slashed the two daggers at the Ripper. I watched the silver daggers hit the Ripper, but they only tore through his shirt and bounced off his skin without leaving a single cut.
Nathan moved back slowly also surprised and the Ripper snarled before knocking the daggers out of Nathan’ hands.
The claws in his right hand retracted in and he grabbed Nathan by the neck, lifting him up in the air.
Nathan groaned as the Ripper choked him. I glanced at the daggers on the floor and hesitated to pick him up.
They wouldn’t do anything to him except tear his clothes. I watched as the Ripper lifted up his left hand with the claws reflecting sunlight.
But they would redirect his attention and save Nathan. I quickly picked up one of the daggers on the floor and rushed at the Ripper from behind, stabbing at him from behind.
Rather than I expected, I watched the dagger drive into his back at the middle of his spine and he let go of Nathan groaning.
He fell lifelessly to the ground and I still looked at his dead body in surprise. That same dagger didn’t do anything to him previously.
That meant they had only one weak point and it was in between the spine.
I panted and rested my palms on my waist. I looked up at Nathan whose red face was slowly returning to it’s normal shade as blood flood properly in his head and he recovered his breath.
I knew it. This Ripper was a sign that Griffin was doing something. He had everything planned out all along and this was probably just a tiny of whatever he had done.
“We need to get to the camp quickly,” I said and ran towards the car, sitting at the driver seat this time. Nathan also climbed in next to me and dropped the two daggers at the back of the car.
I ignited the car and pulled the gear, driving down the road at full speed.
