Xavier.
“Doctor Kealan, how? How can we stop these Rippers?” I asked.
“If I can send a satellite signal, they’ll all leave wherever they are and come back to this facility,” he said and then I glared at him inquiringly.
How was that a solution. They were just going to slaughter all of us here?
“I can then release a gas that’ll shut their nervous system,” he said and I sighed in relief until he looked up to face me and said one more word.
“Permanently.”
I looked at the others and they were also probably thinking what I was. That was so many people and they’ll all die for some something they didn’t ask for.
“Dr. Kealan, is there no way to cure these Rippers?” I asked hopefully, but he crushed it by shaking his head.
“No.”
This was going to be a hard choice to make as we were deciding the fate of over hundred individuals. On the other hand, they would slaughter a lot more people, that is if they haven’t done that already and unless they were sacrificed, there’ll be more than an hundred lives on the line.
I looked at the rest of them one last time before giving Dr. Kealan an approving nod.
“Let’s do it.” I nodded and Dr. Kealan walked towards his desk. He took a glance at Griffin’s body before crossing over the body and walking to his computer.
He typed somethings into it before looking up with a concerned expression.
“What?”
“I can’t get the beacon to communicate with the satellites,” he replied, although I had almost no knowledge of what he was saying.
“Okay?” I stared at him inquiringly.
“For me to be able to send the signal to the Rippers, I have to be able to connect to the satellites,” he explained and I rested my palms on my waist.
“We have to connect the beacon manually,” he said.
“What can we do?” I asked and he remained silent for a while before walking to the shelf at the opposite end of the room.
He opened a drawer at the side of the drawer and brought out two earpieces.
“I’ll need you to go to the roof of the back building and I’ll give you instructions,” he said and handed me an earpiece.
“I’ll be using this to communicate with you.”
I nodded and took the earpiece from him, looking at the three others.
“You….” I pointed at the Vampire.
“Greg,” he replied with his name.
“We’ll go together,” I said and he nodded. I put the earpiece in my left ear. I opened the door and walked out, Greg following behind.
I looked down the corridor to make sure there was no Ripper around before walking towards the entrance.
As I reached the door, I looked out to check again, and stepped out as I saw that no one was there.
I walked to the car we came in and I opened the door, grabbing the two silver daggers Nathan kept there.
“Take.” I handed Greg one of the daggers and I slowly walked to the side of the building.
We walked down till we got to the second building and I glanced up the roof.
I sighed deeply before suddebt leaping into the air and jumping onto the roof.
I breathed out and looked at everything metres away. Griffin really made sure this laboratory was well isolated and hidden.
I looked at the left as Greg landed on the roof. I scanned the roof and landed my gaze on a device with a dish and pointed object up ahead.
“I found it.” I said, waiting for a response from Doctor Kealan’s end. I walked towards it and placed my hand on the earpiece.
Was this thing working.
“Yes. You’ll find a metal case at the side, open it,” I heard Kealan’s voice and I looked at the device closely.
I turned to the other side and looked at it again before spotting an embedded case at the side.
I bent down and grabbed the little door of the case, opening it. There was a small screen on it and numbered buttons below the screen.
“I’ve found it,” I confirmed.
“There’s a small blinking light at the top of the screen. Is it red or green in color?” He asked.
“Red.”
“Alright, enter the code, 504297,” Kealan instructed and I looked at the buttons. I entered the code he mentioned and the device beeped before the blinking light turned green.
“Done, is that all?” I asked and closed the case, standing up straight on my feet.
“One last thing,” Kealan replied.
“You have to change the direction of the dish to the east side,” he stated and I glanced at the dish.
“Alright.” I was about to bend down when I heard a snarl. My eyes darted to the edge of the roof as a Ripper jumped onto the roof with her eyes red in color.
Greg who was close to the edge moved backward. I clutched my hands more tightly around the silver dagger in my hand as I watched as long metallic claws extended from her fingers.
She suddenly zoomed forward and before I could focus my gaze on her movement, I felt her scratch my side with my claws and I groaned loudly.
“Hello? Hello?” I heard Doctor Kealan’s voice from the earpiece.
I held my side, but thankfully it was just a scratch. I turned around to face the Ripper and I saw her lick the blood on her claws.
She snarled again and dashed at me. My claws immediately extended from my fingers and I slashed them at her, but she zoomed out of the way and swiftly slashed her claws across my face.
I cried in pain and touched my bleeding face. All of a sudden, I saw Greg zoom up onto the roof and in an instant, he stabbed the Ripper from behind.
I sighed as she fell lifelessly to the ground.
I walked back to he dish and bent down, moving it to the east direction.
“Done,” I said and stood up.
