Valerie.
I walked into the building, with mixed emotions and confusion. I walked to Xavier’s room and knocked on the door when I reached it.
The door soon opened and Xavier opened the door wider for me to come in. He was shirtless and he walked into the room, heading towards his closet.
I walked into the room and closed the door behind. I went to sit on his bed and watched as he pulled out a shirt from his closet and put it on.
“I heard the news about everything that happened with Nexus Services,” I said and he faced me, nodding.
“Yes, Griffin’s plan all along was to build an army of Rippers to wipe out every supernatural in the city and then kill the Rippers off when it’s done,” Xavier explained and I remembered the video Lycian had showed me.
They all seemed very violent and they caused a ruckus everywhere.
“Those Rippers were killing humans too,” I stated and he nodded, sitting next to me on the bed.
“We were already exposing Griffin so he became desperate to quickly accomplish his goal,” Xavier explained.
“He released those Rippers before they became ready and he even attacked his head scientist when he refused to agree with him” he added.
“Yes, I remembered seeing the doctor rushed to an hospital.”
“That’s wasn’t Griffin. That was a Ripper,” he stated and then he faced me suddenly looking serious.
“Valerie, are you sure we can fully trust your uncle?” He asked.
I didn’t expect that. Although he looked at Garr suspiciously when he was going to leave the both of us outside to talk.
I stared at him inquisitively, not knowing where the suspicion was coming from.
“He’s also a Magician and I’ve never seen those creatures disagree, especially not on something as important as this,” Xavier said. He had a point though.
If an entire coven of Mages sacrificed themselves for earth to be once again inhabitable to Magicians, then it was a big deal.
I didn’t believe that Uncle Garr could betray us though. My mom already told me to protect my baby from the Mages and that meant she disagreed with whatever vision they had.
“My mom already talked to him before she came to see me here and she must have gotten him to reason with her,” I said, strongly believing that Garr had no ulterior motive or evil intention.
Although, I couldn’t help this feeling that he was hiding something very important from me. He never answered my questions directly and when he did, I felt he was saying half of the entire truth.
“Alright. I still don’t trust him, but I trust that you do,” he said and I smiled at him with an assuring nod.
I suddenly felt the entire building shake and I glanced at Xavier looking alarmed.
“What was that?” I asked as everything calmed.
My hands swung in the air as I tried to maintain balance with the building shaking again.
“Valerie, are you okay?” Xavier asked in concern as the building became still again. I nodded in affirmation and we both immediately ran out of the room.
We saw Lycian and Jordan approaching from up the corridor and they ran towards us.
“We were training when we felt the tremor,” Jordan said, and he was panting and sweating.
I grabbed onto the door knob of the room next to me as the building shook again. This time, it was longer and the door knob I was grabbing onto broke off, causing me to slip and crash onto the opposite wall.
The building stood still and I groaned as I rubbed the back of my head.
“Valerie!” Xavier rushed towards me after regaining balance and he quickly helped me up with concern in his eyes.
“Are you okay?” He asked and I rubbed the back of my head again before nodding.
“Yes.”
All the doors in the corridor opened and everyone stepped out of the rooms.
“What’s happening?” Nathan asked and Jenna followed him behind. It was most definitely Magicians again. Ow. My head hurts so bad.
Before anyone could answer that question, the door opened and Albert stepped in, looking alarmed. He closed the door again before walking towards us.
“Albert what’s happening?” Lycian asked.
“There are about a dozen Mages standing outside and they are firing blasts at the building,” Albert replied, confirming what I had suspected.
“They said they won’t stop until we hand them the Hybrid,” he continued and glanced at me. I crossed my arms over my shoulder, feeling bad.
Everything was always about me and I kept putting the people around me in danger. First, I brought the Rippers and Nexus Soldiers to the Moon Edge pack and now I had brought Mages to this island.
“They threatened to start attacking in ten minutes if we don’t do what they want,” he added.
“We have to get Valerie out of here,” Garr said and I faced him. I couldn’t leave here and let them attack everyone here.
“There’s no need to worry, they won’t attack if they can’t find Valerie here,” Garr said, erasing the guilty thought from my mind.
“I can portal you out of here quickly, just let me know where you want to go,” he stated and I glanced at Xavier.
“Nexus Services is out of the way so we can go back to the pack,” Nathan suggested and Xavier nodded in approval.
“Okay,” Garr said and he suddenly touched my head. I felt him reach into my memories and I gasped as he took his hands off.
“I needed to know the exact location,” he said and stretched out his hands, a portal beginning to form in the air.
As the portal fully formed, I glanced at Jordan and he walked closer.
“I can’t follow you now, I need to stay here and see that things are well, but I’ll find my way to the pack when everything is done,” He said and I nodded reluctantly.
“You need to go now,” Garr said and I walked into the portal, with Xavier, Nathan, and Jenna following behind.
As I entered the portal, there was one question on my mind.
How are things at the Moon Edge Pack at the moment.
