Chapter 93

  Xavier.

I stood up from the bed and walked to my closet picking up a white t-shirt and quickly putting it on. The knock came again as low as it was before and I walked towards the door, unlocking it and opening it.

  It was Nathan.

My eyebrows furrowed as I saw Nathan looking alarmed.

“What is it?” I asked, hoping that something bad had not happened in my mind.

“Nexus Soldiers,” Nathan said and I felt my heart skip.

I walked out of the room and closed the door.

“They are the border and they’re going to use force if we don’t peacefully give them Valerie in 30 minutes,” Nathan explained and I shoved my fingers into my hair, ruffling it violently.

“Wait.” I said and went into my room, picking my phone on the table and coming back outside.

I quickly put a call thought to General Rudolf and the phone rang for a while before he accepted the call.

“Xavier. Hello.” Rudolf’s coarse echoed from the phone.

“Why are you doing this?” I asked and there was silence on his end for a while.

“Xavier, what are you talking about?” Rudolf asked and I scoffed. What he really going to do this now.

“Oh, don’t play dumb with me.” I retorted and I heard him scoff on the other end.

  “Xavier?” He sounded surprised.

“What about the soldiers outside by border right now, hungh?” I asked and there was another few seconds of silence.

“Soldiers? Xavier, what are you saying?” Rudolf replied and he sounded really surprised.

“There are Soldiers outside my pack right now and they are threatening to use force if I don’t do what you want in 30 minutes.” I said, gritting my teeth in anger and I glanced at Valerie’s room door, realizing I was raising my voice too loudly.

“What? That was not me. I didn’t give any order,” Rudolf said and I sighed in frustration. He really isn’t the one that’s responsible for this.

“Okay, sorry for disturbing you,” I apologized and was about to cut the call when Rudolf talked.

“And Xavier, if Nexus Services wants anything from you, I’ll advice that you don’t resist,” he said and cut the call.

If he didn’t do it, who did? I thought and then sighed as I realized who else must have given the order.

I quickly dialed his number and he picked up the call immediately.

“Hello Xavier, I believe you’ve seen the message I sent,” Senate President Griffin’s voice hit my ears and he sounded indifferent and unconcerned.

“Griffin, how can you do this? Why are you doing this?” I asked and I heard him clear his throat.

“In case I didn’t make myself clear, you have in your possession, a very dangerous supernatural criminal and she has to be returned to the Prison facility to ensure safety of the United States citizens,” Griffin said and I scoffed.

“It’s just one Vampire and Valerie is not a prisoner, she’s my Mate!” I yelled and glanced at Valerie’s door again. I didn’t want to wake her up or let her know about any of these.

I walked down the corridor and turned into another corridor with Nathan following behind.

“This does not mean that we would Lowe our standards or bypass the law,” Griffin retorted indifferently.

“The law?” I scoffed, “how can you talk about the law when you arrest this Vampires based on scientific data and imprison Rogues too.” I accused.

There was a silence for about 15 seconds until Griffin cleared his throat.

“We act based on crimes committed and we arrest supernatural criminals, Vampires and Werewolves alike,” Griffin answered, “you now have 5 minutes,” he said and cut the call.

I dropped the phone in my pocket and I faced Nathan.

“How many men are there?” I asked.

“About 20 soldiers with Silver ray guns.”

I blinked as I stepped out of the portal onto the front of the pack mansion. I looked back as the others too stepped out and the portal slowly whirled in the opposite direction, before closing.

I shook my head in disappointed. I expected to see my men prepared to attack or defend themselves from whatever was going to step out of that portal, but no one was here.

I remembered what happened before we left. Alex had betrayed us to Nexus Services because they promised him power.

Now that the ones backing him up were down, what would he do? He looked so desperate to get his hands on Valerie the other day and was ready to fight me.

Yes, he hated Vampires, but that was just an excuse to betray me and be given power.

Everywhere was also quiet. I tried to create a telepathic mind link with Raphael, but I couldn’t seem to reach him.

I could hear grunts coming from the training room and I sighed before climbing up the stairs and opening the door.

We walked into the building and I nodded at Nathan and Jenna as they walked off to their rooms.

I and Valerie walked down the corridor that led to our rooms. We stopped walking as got to Valerie’s room and I placed my hand on her shoulder.

She didn’t look like she was happy with everything that was happening.

Our baby’s life was in danger and the Magicians would keep searching for us until they find us and do harm to him.

“Take care okay?” I said and she nodded with a bleak smile. I looked at her door and saw that the doorknob I spoilt the day the Rippers attacked was still unrepaired.

“I’ll get that repaired soon,” I said and opened the door for her to go in.

She walked in and I smiled assuringly before closing the door. I sighed and walked to my room next to hers.

I grabbed the door knob and opened the door. I stopped as I looked into the room and saw that my arrangement of the room had been changed.

  Who the hell did this?

I looked at the side as a Werewolf approached. He looked surprised to see me and I stopped him, by raising up my hands.

“What happened to my room? Who used it while I was gone?” I asked.

“It was Alpha Alex. He moved to this room,” he replied.

  What? Alpha Alex?
