Jordan.
I grunted as Lycian jabbed me in the abdomen. I bent backward and suddenly zoomed to his back, successfully planting a kick at his back. He staggered forward and fell face flat on the floor.
It was really hard fighting someone who could know your next move before you made it.
“Ha! Bet you didn’t see that coming” I laughed and watched as Lycian stood up with a grunt.
“I did,” Lycian said with a teasing smile. What?
“I just wanted you to feel good about yourself,” Lycian added with a smirk and I frowned.
“No you didn’t,” I retorted.
“Actually, you’re right. I didn’t, but you also didn’t expect me to do this,” he said quickly and suddenly zoomed towards my back.
He wrapped his hand around my neck and he forcefully held my other arm to my back.
“Not so tough now, hungh,” he said behind me and I felt his breath linger on my neck. I tried to struggle and break free, but he only pressed his arn tighter against my neck.
Suddenly, the building began to shake and he let go of me as we both tried to maintain balance. My hand flailed in the hair as I tried not to fall and I finally stood still as the building shook.
I looked around in curiosity and looked at Lycian.
“What’s that?” I asked Lycian who looked like he had no idea about what it was.
The building suddenly began to shake again and I as I tried to hold onto something, I fell forward.
Lycian grabbed me, but he also lost his balance and I fell down on the floor, with Lycian landing on me.
The shaking stopped again and as I looked up to see Lycian’s face only inches away from me. His naked torso was directly pressed against mine I could feel the heat of his gaze on me, my eyes flickering to his lips.
I swallowed and he did too before suddenly standing up and apologizing.
“Sorry,” he stretched out his hands and helped me up to my feet.
He quickly grabbed his shirt hung on the door and he threw mine at him.
“Let’s see what that is,” he said as he wore his shirt and walked out of the room. I followed behind and we looked at Xavier and Valerie up ahead.
“We were training when we felt the tremor,” I said as I reached them.
All of a sudden, the building began to shake again and I held on to the edge wall next to me, grabbing Lycian who was about to fall.
The shaking continued and I looked at Valerie as she got slammed against a wall. The baby!
The shaking finally stopped and I watched Xavier rush towards Valerie to help her up.
I looked over my shoulder to see Nathan and Jenna approach.
“What’s happening?” Nathan asked. I was certain that it was those Mages here to get Valerie.
The door flung open and I looked at Albert as he walked in looking alarmed.
“Albert, what’s happening?” Lycian asked.
“There are about a dozen Mages standing outside and they are firing blasts at the building,” Albert replied, confirming what I had suspected.
“They said they won’t stop until we hand them the Hybrid,” he continued and glanced at Valerie
“They threatened to start attacking in ten minutes if we don’t do what they want,” he added.
“We have to get Valerie out of here,” Garr said.
“There’s no need to worry, they won’t attack if they can’t find Valerie here,” Garr assured Lycian.
“I can portal you out of here quickly, just let me know where you want to go,” he stated and looked at Valerie inquiringly.
“Nexus Services is out of the way so we can go back to the pack,” Nathan suggested and Xavier nodded in approval.
“Okay,” Garr said and he suddenly touched Valerie’s head. As he took his hands off her, he stretched them out and a portal began to form in the air.
As the portal fully formed, I walked towards Valerie.
“I can’t follow you now, I need to stay here and see that things are well, but I’ll find my way to the pack when everything is done,” I assured and she nodded.
“You need to go now,” Garr said and she left with the others. As they walked into the portal, It closed and Garr walked outside.
I and Lycian followed him and we stood by the door to see the Mages gathered outside.
One of them, a Witch stepped forward as they saw us.
“Give us the Hybrid,” she demanded with a threatening tone.
“She’s not here,” Garr replied, but they didn’t look convinced.
“We’re not fools. She’s in this building,” the Witch retorted and her fingers began to spark in a bright blue color.
“You need to get your facts right. Valerie is not here okay?!” I stated bluntly and the Mages all glanced at each other.
“You can come search for her if you want or do you hocus pocus, but you won’t find her here,” I added, hoping that Garr was right and they wouldn’t attack.
The Witch closed her eyes and I could feel her presence surround the whole place. She was scanning the place magically for Valerie.
She opened her eyes shortly after and nodded.
“The baby must die and anyone who gets in our way would suffer the same fate,” she warned and I looked up as a portal formed in the air.
The Mages all flew up before disappearing into the portal. I sighed in relief and rested my palms on my waist.
“They’re not going to stop till they find Valerie,” Garr said as we walked back into the building.
“Then we have to leave tomorrow and find a better way to hide her,” I said and Garr nodded before walking off to his room.
I faced Lycian who was standing next to me and regarded him with a nod, not knowing what to say to him.
“Should we continue or just get some rest?” He asked and I shrugged.
“I’ll take that rest,” I said and walked in the direction of his training room.
“I have to grab my sandal first,” I said as I had run out the other time barefooted.
“Me too.” Lycian followed me to his training room.
We both stopped at the door as we saw three Wizards standing in the training room.
“Vustrus nsolww halreh nemolsa. Vustrus nsolww halreh nemolsa.” They began to chant and before I could do anything or react, I began to feel dizzy.
My vision blurred and I struggled to remain conscious only to lose balance and fall unconscious.
