Xavier.
As Jenna disagreed and refused to let Nathan go and risk his life, he faced me with an apologetic look, but I gave a nod that said it was okay. I faced Valerie and placed my hand on her shoulder.
“Wait here, I’ll call you if it’s safe, but if you hear me howl, you have to run immediately,” I said and she nodded.
I took my hand off her shoulder and faced Roderigo, nodding at him for us to go.
I hoped it was just Garr, Jordan, and Lycian. I and Roderigo turned into another corridor and we walked towards the door. I sighed as he opened the door and I looked at the three men standing before the portal.
I sighed in relief to see the three men I had been expecting and my men were surrounding them. Jordan waved at me sarcastic smile and I nodded.
“Let them pass through,” I said and they all moved aside. The three of them climbed up the stairs and I moved out of the way for them to pass.
“Where is Valerie?” Jordan asked as he didn’t see her.
“I wanted to make sure it was you guys,” I replied and he nodded, “this way.”
I led them towards the healer’s dorm and as soon as we appeared in the way, Valerie looked relieved to see it was them.
“Jordan, are you okay? You look so pale,” Valerie said worriedly and walked towards us. She touched his face in concern, but he shrugged it off and smile.
“I’m fine, it was just some Wizards trying to get your location from me and Lycian’s mind and that’s why we had to come here?” Jordan explained and I stared at him inquiringly, scared that the Mages already knew where Valerie was hiding.
“Don’t worry. I had no idea where this place is and Lycian’s mind is protected,” Jordan assured and I nodded.
“Jordan, how far did they try to dig, are you okay?” Garr asked in concern. Jordan remained quiet for a while, looking like he was thinking about something, but then he shook his head.
“No, I’m absolutely fine.” He assured with a smile.
I don’t buy it, I thought. He looked like he was hiding something; something that he didn’t want others to worry about, but it was none of my business and I wasn’t going to ask.
“The Magical society are constantly looking for a way to find Valerie and every second, they get closer so we can’t be in the same place for long,” Garr said and although I knew he was right, I wasn’t comfortable with the idea that I might have to leave the pack again.
I didn’t want to loose the already strained loyalty of my men.
But if Valerie had to leave, I had to be with her.
“How much longer can we stay here?” I asked so that I would know how much longer I had to sort everything out in the pack.
“I don’t know, maybe two weeks, but for now, I would place a cloaking spell around the building.” Garr replied and I nodded, although I couldn’t help this feeling I was getting that the Mages who attacked Lycian and Jordan had a way of following them here.
I faced Valerie and she was already looking tired. We haven’t had time to rest since we came back to the pack. She needed to p go and rest in her room now, because of her and the baby’s health.
I faced Raphael so I could also him to take them to empty available rooms, but then, I remembered tjay ue didn’t even have any idea of who they were and he had been looking at all of us talk the entire time.
“Raphael, this is Valerie’s brother, Jordan, her uncle, Garr, and Nathan’ brother, Lycian,” I introduced them one after the other, gesturing at them with my hand.
“Wait. Nathan, you have a brother?” Raphael asked in surprise. Not many people knew of Nathan’ billionaire Lycan brother.
“I stand as am untold tale, hmn,” Lycian said and we all burst into laughter. As the laughter died down, I saw Valerie suddenly gasp in pain and she bend with her hand clutching her stomach tightly.
“Valerie!” I exclaimed and bet down to help her up. I became worried for the baby’s safety immediately, looking at her stomach.
“Valerie, what is it?” I asked and she continued groaning in pain, clutching her stomach tightly.
“We. …we need to leave,” she said, groaning and using one of her hands to point at the door.
I became confused immediately. What was she saying and how did that have to do with the pain she was feeling.
“We have to leave this place now. My baby is sensing serious danger,” she croaked out in pain, still pointing at the door and pulling me to help her leave.
What was she doing? How was the barely formed baby sensing danger or even telling her any of this.
I glanced at Garr and stared inquiringly, hoping that he could at least find meaning to this.
“I don’t know what she’s feeling, but she can’t be saying all of this for no reason so we have to take precautions,” Garr said and I looked at Valerie who was still holding on to her stomach.
Everything just sounded so silly to me.
“Fine, let’s get you out of here,” I said and helped to stand up straight.
Garr faced me and I gave a nod for him to go ahead and portal us out of here.
He stretched out his hands and a gust of wind began to form in the air.
I looked at Valerie again and I didn’t know what to think about this. She could be right, but still, How did an unborn child cause her so much pain just to warn her. I looked back up and watched as the gust of wind turned into purple waves that began whirling around.
The forming portal suddenly stopped opening and I faced Garr. What the heck?! Why did he close the portal.
He faced us looking alarmed and I stared at him inquiringly.
“If we leave through this portal we’ll be followed,” he said, but I still had no idea of what he was saying.
“A strong magic just placed a tracker spell on the portal.”
