Chapter 121

  Jordan.

I finally reached the restaurant and I looked at both sides of the road as cars drove by. I finally ran across the road when there it was free and I walked to the restaurant. I grabbed the door and opened it, walking into the building.

I looked across the restaurant, my eyes scanning for the lady I was here to meet.

  She wasn’t here.

Or not. I looked at someone covering her face with a newspaper as she slowly brought it down.

  Nicole.

She looked at me and I waved, walking towards her.

  Here goes nothing.

“Nicole,” I said and moved an empty chair at her table backward, sitting on it..

I placed my hands on the table and intertwined my fingers as I stared at Nicole who was closely observing me..

“Ahem.” I tried to get her attention so we can talk and she nodded.

Nicole looked so much better and beautiful. Her clothing was expensive and she had a glow that showed how well she had been living.

“Hmnnn. It’s been 3 years since we last spoke now,” Nicole said and I nodded. With everyword she said, I could notice her observing my every move.

I got nervous, but I tried my best not to show it or not to subconsciously project that feeling in my body language.

“And we didn’t exactly leave on a good note,” She said in an icy tone and glared at me.

I became even more nervous and I controlled myself from swallowing. Nicole wasn’t dumb. She’d notice something was up it I gave her the smallest feeling that I was nervous.

“I know,” I answered, keeping my head up and refusing to looly away from her eyes, despite the burning glare

I must not get scared, I told myself. If Nicole finds out what is really happen, I’ll have two things to deal with.

First, the sentence for the bloody “crime” Sanctum is charging me with. And second, if Nicole and her group were truly that dangerous, they wouldn’t let me be.

I wouldn’t be the only one in danger, but I would also be putting Lycian’s life at risk.

You have to nail this Jordan.

“Last time we saw each other, you told me to my face that you don’t want to have anything to do with me,” Nicole continued and she looked a bit angry with her eyes still trying to scare me.

My lips quivered and I was about to talk when a waiter walked up to our table, holding a notepad and pen.

I stopped and looked up at him.

“Welcome, can I take your order?” The wiater asked with a polite smile and I nodded. I opened my mouth to talk and was about to order a Martini when I remembered what I was pretending to be.

I am supposed to be suffering, so I cannot order a cappuccino. Moreover, my credit card is currently not with me.

“I’m okay,” I said with a smile and he nodded before facing Nicole.

“Two glasses of Bloody Mary please?” Nicole said and the waiter nodded, jotting it down on the notepad he was holding.

“I’ll be right back,” he said with a smile before walking away. I watched as he disappeared into another room and I faced Nicole again.

“As I was saying, you told me to not to come close to you at all and you said it quite disdainfully,” She continued with an icy tone and I nodded.

Now was the right time to look away and swallow.

“Yes, I did,” I said and looked at my hands as I toyed with my fingers.

“Nicole, I remember very clearly what I said, but I’m really in need of a way to survive and I’m ready to anything now,” I said, looking up with pleading eyes and swallowing nervously.

“A way to survive?” Nicole asked with surprise in her tone and she scoffed. She was about to talk when the waiter arrived with our order.

He dropped a tray with two wine glasses on it on the table before us.

“Thank you,” Nicole said and grabbed her purse. She reached into it and pulled out her credit card.

She stretched out the credit card to the waiter who nodded as he collected it and walked away.

I watched the waiter leave with my eyes glued to the credit card in his hand. I really hope the officials around the corner saw that.

They could clone the credit card so we can trace the billing address.

Nicole cleared her throat and I quickly faced her with an apologetic look.

“Jordan you just said that you need a way to survive,” Nicole said with a questioning tone and she scoffed.

“Jordan, you have a well paying job and sure you’ve gotten promoted within this three years,” Nicole said and I nodded.

Well, that’s true, but I’m no longer working there. How do I convince and explain to her?

“I lost my job,” I blurted out and she stared at me inquiringly.

“Look, when blood became scarce early this year, I became desperate and I raided a blood clinic,” I said quickly and in one breath. She continued staring at me inquisitively.

“I thought I had gotten away with it and I forgot about it until six months ago,” I continued and swallowed. I looked at the glass of wine on the table and she gave an approving nod.

I grabbed the glass and sipped a bit of the wine before dropping it again.

“Sanctum Officials came and I was arrested for something I did before they were formed,” I added and I looked at Nicole’s eyes widen in surprise.

She slowly dropped the glass of wine in her hand.

“Jordan, what are you doing?” I heard Darell’s voice though the tiny earpiece at the inner orner of my ear.

They had cast a spell on it so no sound would go past my ear or else Nicole would pick it up with Vampire hearing.

“Sanctum?” Nicole asked and she looked around her. She was scared.

“Nicole, I was arrested and put in blood rehabilitation for 6 months. When I came back last week, I lost my job for disappearing.” I explained and I watched her visibly calm down.

“Blood Rehabilitation?” She asked in surprise and I nodded in affirmation.

“Yes, they tortured me and conditioned my body to resist blood to an extent.” I affirmed.

“So I’m currently jobless and no one is exactly excited to hire a supernatural convict especially when I’m too weak to use compulsion,” I added and grabbed the glass of wine.

I slowly sipped it and stared at Nicole who looked like she was thinking about something. Let’s hope that she falls for it and accepts me..

“Did you say you’re ready to do anything?”
