Chapter 122

  Jordan

“Nicole, I was arrested and put in blood rehabilitation for 6 months. When I came back last week, I lost my job for disappearing.” I explained and I watched her visibly calm down.

“Blood Rehabilitation?” She asked in surprise and I nodded in affirmation.

“Yes, they tortured me and conditioned my body to resist blood to an extent.” I affirmed.

“So I’m currently jobless and no one is exactly excited to hire a supernatural convict especially when I’m too weak to use compulsion,” I added and grabbed the glass of wine.

I slowly sipped it and stared at Nicole who looked like she was thinking about something. Let’s hope that she falls for it and accepts me.

“Did you say you are ready to do anything?” Nicole asked and I smiled lightly. She bought thr fucking bait.

“Yes, anything at all,” I said trying my best to sound desperate.

I looked up again as the waiter walked back to our table.

“Your credit card,” he said and handed the credit card back to Nicole. She took it from him and nodded before the waiter walked away.

I hope they cloned that credit card. Every detail at this point would be useful and I need this case to be resolved as soon as possible so I can get the hell out of Sanctum and their mess.

I looked back at Nicole who smiled and picked up her wine glass again, gracefully holding it to her lips.

She dropped the glass as soon as she had finished the wine and she stood up on her feet, grabbing her purse.

“Okay. Meet me at noon tomorrow at 1507 Wisconsin Avenue.” She smiled at me before walking away.

I watched as she walked out of the restaurant and I sighed I relief.

“She’s heading out already,” I said and waited for a response.

“Yes, get out of there now and go to the same alley you arrived in,” Darell’s voice echoed out of the earpiece and I stood up on my feet.

I looked out of the transparent glass walls of the restaurant saw Nicole climb into a car. The car started af her a while and it drove off.

Sanctum officials would be following her right now. According to the plan, they would fly in an aircraft made invisible with magic.

I walked out of the restaurant and stood by the road. I watched the car Nicole entered drive farther and farther away from my vision range.

I looked up and squinted my eyes, but I also couldn’t see any sign of an aircraft.

  Good.

I looked back at the road and waited till it was clear before running across the road.

I walked by the side of the road till I reached the previous alley. I breathed as I stood in the alley and I looked around.

  It was empty.

Where the hell were the people I’m supposed to be leaving with.

I was about to talk into the comm when I saw something strange.

There was a slight and almost inaudible buzzing sound and there a small blue spark in the air.

  The heck?!

I slowly walked forward, reaching my left hand out cautiously. I dug my hand into the hr air and immediately, I watched as a magical veil dropped the floor.

I gasped as I the illusion dropped and saw what was on the floor.

It was the dead bodies of two Sanctum officials and blood flowed out of their gutted throats.

Someone killed them and used a cloaking spell to hide their presence.

That instant, the memory of the dead bodies on the floor at that building in my portal vision flashed in my head.

  Who the hell did this?

My best guess was that it was people working with Nicole. Just like us, they must have been also watching and staying around the corner.

Does that mean Nicole knows I’m working for Sanctum to bring her and her group down? Or is this just something that happened when the two groups coincidentally came across each other.

I looked at their necks and the blood flowing out of it. I swallowed as I suddenly became thirsty and felt the crazy urge to feed on them.

They were Magicians and their blood was the closest thing to paradise. It also had a greater attraction power to Vampires.

I couldn’t take my eyes off the blood flowing out of their neck and everything else seemed to disappear.

I swallowed as I tried to fight the urge to feed on them. I didn’t want to give them the idea that I am the one responsible for killing tjrm so I could feed on them.

My eyes darkened and I felt my fangs extend on their volition. As I tried to fight the urge, I saw the image of my dark replica flash in my head and he was looking at me disdainfully.

“You are weak.” I heard his voice in my head and I gritted my teeth. What the heck?

Don’t tell me this craziness is happening in reality too.

I felt my dark replica feed me with strength and I summoned that strength and turned around, looking away from the bodies.

I felt my face revert to the normal color and I made my fangs disappear. I breathed out loudly and sighed deeply.

Okay, Jordan, cool off and calm down, I told myself and closed my eyes as I tried to shake off the image of the dark replica.

For some reason, it felt like the dark replica considered blood lust as weakness. I don’t know if it’s just me, but maybe not just blood lust, he also hates having to feed on blood.

The strength I used to gain control felt like it was from him. Yes. I’m probably loosing my mind and I need to find help once all this is over.

Darell still knows nothing about this and he needs to. Plus, I have no way of getting out of here without a portal.

I held my hand to my ear to check if the earpiece was there.

“Darell,” I called and waited for a response.

“Jordan, where are the two officials supposed to bring you back, I’ve been waiting for you and I’ve been trying to communicate with them,” Darell replied and his voice was loud.

Okay, this is gonna be shocking to hear, but-

  “Darell, they are dead.”
