Chapter 131

  Jordan..

“I heard about your shit with Sanctum. Did you really spend six months in blood rehabilitation?” Kyle asked and I nodded. He stared at me and he didn’t look convinced.

Three more men walked in carrying boxes and he stopped them with a wave of his hand. They dropped the box on the floor and he bent down, opening the box. I looked in and saw that it was filled with shoes.

  Just packed shoes.

Kyle took a knife out of the box and he asked two of them to go on with the box while the third one stayed he looked at the third one as if he was going to compell him.

“Your palm?” Kyle asked and the man nodded, stretching out his palm to Kyle. I watched as Kyle began to cut the man’s palm with his knife and the man hissed in pain. What was he doing?

Kyle suddenly grabbed my hand and he held the man’s hand over mine, squeezing his blood onto my palm.

I finally understood what he was doing. He was trying to tempt me and see if I would be able to resist blood especially if I was holding it since I claimed to have undergone six months of blood rehabilitation.

Kyle let go of the man’s palm and looked into his eyes.

“You got injured, go clean yourself up and do your work diligently,” Kyle said and the man nodded before walking past me and disappearing into a different section of the building.

I looked at the thick red blood on my palm and I swallowed nervously, unable to take my eyes of the blood. I felt so tempted to fall on my hands and drink the blood. My hands had cupped instinctively to prevent the blood from flowing out and it was only falling in little drops below my fingers.

I briefly glanced up and saw Kyle smile. He was enjoying watching me suffer so much expectation and most importantly fail to control my self so he could justify his suspicion.

I looked at the blood on my palm again and I felt my throat dry up and itch to have a taste of it.

I felt my eyes gradually darken and I couldn’t help it so I looked down to avoid him seeing my face properly.

I was about to give up and drink the blood on my palm, when I saw the image of my dark replica flash in my mind. I felt a strong feeling overwhelm me and in a split second, I welcomed it.

My dark eyes reverted to their normal color and I looked up at Kyle, smirking.

I opened up my palms and slowly let the blood flow to the floor with a cold smile.

I felt this strength and this feeling of darkness and need to surpress my enemies.

Kyle looked at the blood staining the floor and he looked surprised.

“It’s just blood. You can do better,” I said and looked sideways to see Nicole hand me and handkerchief that I gracefully used to wipe my palm.

Kyle didn’t look happy about how I had disappointed and defied him. He was glaring angrily at me and I suddenly had this urge to grab his head and smash it on the wall till it burst.

I was about to till I heard Darell’s voice through my earpiece.

  “Get out of there now.”

I snapped back to my senses and the overwhelming presence in my mind had disappeared. I looked at the blood on the floor and the hunger was back.

It felt like I just had an episode where I wasn’t myself.

The courage, ruthlessness, and feeling of superiority was gone and it was now replaced with nervousness and a feeling of danger.

I faced Nicole and forced a smile.

“Thanks for the job offer, when do I start?” I asked.

Nicole reached into her pocket and took out a business card. She handed it me and I collected it, taking it from her.

“On Monday. Come by the office address,” she said and I nodded.

“Thanks.” I walked to the door and sighed internally. I opened the door and walked out, closing the door behind.

“Are you sure he can be trusted, I mean why would he show up all of a sudden?” I heard Kyle say with my enhanced hearing.

“Calm down Kyle. He just wants a job.” Nicole said.

Okay, let’s hope we can bring them down before Monday or else I’d most likely have a target on my back if I don’t show up at work.

I stood by the road and crossed to the other side. I continued walking for a while so I could get as far away as possible from their hearing range.

I was still holding the handkerchief given to me by Nicole and I properly wiped the blood on my hand before cautiously dropping the handkerchief on the floor.

What just happened inside there was scary and unsettling. It was like I was seating at a corner of my mind and letting someone else take control.

My dark replica was right, I have a dual consciousness somehow and all he wants is to be let out also. Still, I can’t have that. Not with his reckless, ruthless and self absorbed behavior.

I breathed in air as I continued walking by the side of the road. One thing was for sure, he had more control and courage than I do and I’m hoping there won’t be a situation when I’d have to stand aside and watch him take total control like he had said.

I touched my ear to see if my earpiece was still there and I finally stopped walking after turning into an empty alleyway.

“Darell, I’m out of there already,” I said and waited for a while for his response.

“Alright. Hang on,” he replied and I sighed, placing my hands in my pocket. One way or the other, I have to get myself out of this mess.

I looked sideways as a portal formed in the air and a Sanctum official stepped out of it.

  “Let’s go.”
