Chapter 133

  Jordan

I blinked as I stepped out of the portal with the Sanctum Official.

I looked at the faces in the room and they all seemed disappointed about the meeting.

Who would have thought that all Nicole wanted to help me with was a job as an Accountant at a Shoemaking company.

“We looked what she said and she is right. Her family runs a shoemaking company with completely clean records,” Darell said.

Of course, just three years ago I had looked at them disdainfully for catching them to that on a small scale. People don’t just change and I shouldn’t have expected them to think I would be able to handle such mass crime.

Now I had been offered a job I definitely cannot do, and if I decide not to show up after pretending to be so desperate for a job, they would know something is up.

They would eventually find out and everyone I love will be endangered.

“I can’t do this anymore,” I said, looking up to face a surprised Darius’

“What?” He asked and I nodded. Lycian was also facing me with his expression asking me what I was doing?

“Look, I don’t care about anything anymore, but I’m not going to continue with this mission,” I repeated myself, looking as determined as I could. If I needed to do blood rehabilitation, I would. I can’t stand to get myself into all this mess especially when Nicole trusted me so much and decided to help me as an old friend.

I don’t want to involve in all this.

“I’m not doing this!” I said again and Darell nodded.

“Right. Well you can go and get ready to hear from us when we prepare the documents for your transfer to the rehabilitation center,” he said, looking at me blankly.

I stared back at me not knowing what to say as I didn’t want to endanger my life and the lives of those around me, but I was also scared about the idea of going through blood rehabilitation.

“No, my client is choosing the option for the field mission,” Mr. Landon said and I faced him in surprise.

Didn’t he just hear that I said I didn’t want to do this anymore.

“But he just said he doesn’t want to,” Darell said just what I was about to say.

“He said he doesn’t want to this particular mission,” Mr. Landon retorted and I widened my eyes in surprise as I began to understand what he was driving at.

“Mr. Darell, according to the section 20, subsection 75 of the Supernatural Act, my client is free to reject any mission that appears overbearing and pick from other ongoing missions,” Mr. Landon stated, confirming what I had suspected and I felt overwhelmed with relief. I faced Lycian and he smiled at me.

I faced Darell who looked awfully disappointed and remained quiet, staring at Mr. Landon.

“Oh. You’re right,” he finally replied with a smile although, he didn’t look happy to have lost the closest thing they have to being able to take down the Speranzini syndicate down.

“Good.” I said with a smile and sighed, “I’ll have a look at the list of ongoing missions now, will you?” I asked with a smile and he nodded.

He looked behind him and he pointed at a Sanctum official sitting before a computer.

“Simon, show him the list will you?” Darell said and Simon nodded, directing his attention to the computer before him. .

I walked to his back and bent down a bit so I could see the screen.

There were a lot of missions here, and though, there were easier than the mission involving the Speranzini syndicate, they were all new misssons that hadn’t been touched at all.

This meant, investigation from the start, and a lot other stressful things to do before busting the criminals responsible.

I would still do that instead of engaging in a mission that’ll fail and put a red alert over my head.

Lycian also walked over and he stood behind me, looking at the screen of the computer. He pointed at it and

I glanced at Darell briefly and he seemed to be lost in thought. He really wanted to expose and arrest those syndicates, and I backed out. I can’t afford to be sentimental at all at the moment. Not when it involved putting my life at stake.

“Mr. Darell-“ A Sanctum official called Darell and I looked up. I looked at the official sitting before another computer in the room and he looked like he had something to say.

“Yes?” Darell asked and walked closer to the official.

“I found a security camera in the bridge where we lost Miss Speranzini the other day,” he said and I stood up straight. I and Lycian glanced at each other before looking at the official again. I was so interested in what he had to say.

“Go on,” Darell said and he stood behind the official, looking at the screen of the computer.

“I hacked into the footage and saw that while we couldn’t see below the brigde, she switched cars that day,” The official continued and I nodded. Of course, that’s what happened. She was extra careful that day and she quickly got into another car to direct attention away from her.

“Do you know where that car went?” Darell asked and I looked at the official, hoping that he had a positive answer to that. I would surely go back to that mission of there was an assurance that we would hit them hard before Monday.

“No.” He replied and I sighed internally. Darell also sighed loudly in frustration and he moved away.

“They suddenly disappeared, but the last place the car was seen was the road leading to MT View PI Se and Chester St Se,” he stated. They must have used a cloaking spell to prevent being tracked. They really did know how to cover their tracks.

Suddenly, I remembered something out of what he just said.

“Chestet ST Se,” I muttered out and everyone in the room faced me, looking curious.

I immediately remembered the news paper I had picked up and read while in my mental world. That was the name of the street and that was the same placer with the house where I saw Nicole.

I had the feeling that that was it, but I also didn’t want to bet on something only out of my consciousness.

“Go for it.” The image of my dark replica flashed in my head and he whispered.

Everyone in the room was still staring at me as I remained silent and my lips quivered.

“Jordan, what is it?” Lycian asked.

“I know their base of operation.”
