Chapter 135

  Jordan

“There’s another method you can go with,” my dark replica muttered at the back of my head and I decided to listen this time.

I listened to him talk while maintaining a blank and less suspicious expression.

His method was good afterall. Maybe I had expected that and that was why I had listened.

The method was also risky, I thought, hesitating to tell them the method.

“It’s something I can handle, trust me,” my dark replica replied and I finally decided to mention it.

“I have an idea.” I stated and glanced at every one’s faces one after the other to see their reaction.

“What? What is it?” Darell asked.

“How about we sneak into the house with a cloaking spell,” I stated and Darell’s combative expression slowly morphed into one of uncertainty..

“You don’t want to be sued right? Well, if it’s a normal house where civilians live, no one would notice and If I was right, we’ll sneak away and come back to attack,” I suggested and looked at everyone’s faces to see how they would react to the suggestion.

“If you’re right. Whoever goes in might be detected since they have Magicians working with them and I don’t want to lose anymore of my men,” Darell retorted and I shook my head.

“Well, it’s either you do this or you’re never going to know if that is the key to finally closing this case,” I said and Darell rested his palms on his waist, thinking deeply about what I just said.

“There’s no need to worry though. I’ll go,” I said and everyone looked at me in surprise, “I’ll be the one to sneak into the building,” I added although I was a bit scared.

You had better be certain you can handle this, I said inside of me.

“If you die physically, I die too, don’t worry,” he assured.

“You’ll do it?” Darell asked in surprise and Lycian also stared at me in utter shock.

“But you decided to drop this mission,” Darell added and he looked surprised as to why I’d put my life in danger when I have other options.

“Yes, but I’m certain of this and we can finally end this mission today,” I remained adamant. Lycian walked closer to me and grabbed my hand.

“Jordan, are you sure about this?” He asked with concern in his tone.

“Yes, I’m absolutely sure of what I want to do,” I replied.

“All I need is a cloaking spell and I’ll handle the rest,” I said and and Darell nodded.

“Then we must not waste time. Let’s do this quickly.” Darell said and I nodded. I walked away from the computer where I had been looking at the available missions and walked closer to Darell as he brought out a teleportation device.

He switched on the device and I watched as blue waves flowed out of it and began to whirl in the air to form a portal.

As the portal was fully formed, Darell dropped the device and he signaled to a Sanctum Official who was an Elder Witch to come with us.

I looked over my shoulder and smiled at Lycian before walking into the portal.

My dark replica frowned as he saw that I had saved myself from the boiling hot magma that could have killed me, but then he glanced at my sword that was lying on the floor.

It fell when I was about to loose balance.

The frown disappeared and quick got replaced by a smile.

He began to walk towards me, but quickly, I focused on the floor before him.

He quickly stopped walking and moved backward as the floor before him turned into a large hole filled with boiling hot magma.

“Not bad,” he shrugged and then smiled wickedly, “but It’s nothing special either.”

Immediately he said that, the magma hole once again changed to the rocky floor and as I was still on the floor, he dashed at me with his sword.

“Good bye,” he said and raised up his sword, bringing it down for me. I raised up my hand and closed my eyes as I waited for him to stab me with the sword.

Nothing happened and I began to feel different. I could no longer feel the heat from the hot magma around and I could not the rocky hard floor beneath me.

There was a gentle breeze blowing on my face and the floor beneath me was soft.

I slowly opened my eyes and saw that my dark replica was no longer standing above me and there was no scary sword hovering over my face.

I looked up at the sky and saw that it was the normal blue colour and the sun shone brightly.

I grunted as I stood up on my feet. Where did I bring myself to this time.

I looked around and saw that I was in a street. The street had only trees and houses on both sides of the road.

There were also cars parked around, but it was there was nobody and it was completely silent.

I slowly walked through the road, looking around for any sign of life. Human life.

There were birds chirping and butterflies flying around.

I stopped walking as I stepped on something on the floor.

I moved backward and looked down to see that I had stepped on a newspaper.

Out of curiosity, I bent down and grabbed the ruffled newspaper. I looked at it and read the first words I saw on the front page.

  ‘CHESTER ST SE’

I was about to keep reading further, but a butterfly flew in my face. I swiped my palm in front of my face and it flew away.

Just then, I spotted the first movement and sign of life up ahead.

There was a big house up ahead and the doors of a car parked in front of the house just slammed shut, although I didn’t see anybody close it and there was no body around.

Curious, I dropped the newspaper back on the floor and walked towards the house. I stopped at the front porch of the house and I looked around.

There was nothing. I glanced at the car that just had it’s door closed and I shook my head.

That couldn’t have happened just on it’s own.

  “Anybody here?”
