Chapter 137

  Jordan.

“You look tired, Mr. Speranzini. Would you like a drink?” The lady asked and I watched her tilt her head to the side and expose her bare neck.

Kyle nodded and smiled before leaning in closer to her and sinking his fangs into her neck.

She only let out a tiny whimper as he fed on her and he finally moved away from her, wiping his mouth.

She touched her neck and looked at the blood on her fingers.

“I’ll go clean that up,” she said before walking away and Kyle stood in the room, resting his palm on his waist.

I knew I was right. This was their base of operation and they were compelling humans so that they can hide their activities from everyone.

Not anymore, I thought to myself and didn’t realise that I had already subconsciously clenched my fist.

“Now we have to make sure that it’s their base of operation and not just somewhere they meet so we’ll know if we’re to attack with force,” Darell’s voice echoed out of the earpiece in my left ear, snapping me out of the innate desire to grab Kyle right now and pound his head against the wall.

Right. We have to make sure this was really the place that need to be hit to destroy the Speranzini syndicate.

I looked at Kyle and he was about to leave when he stopped walking. He turned around again and he looked at the door.

He kept staring at the door in suspicion, once again proving how extra careful the syndicate were in every action they took.

He had displayed suspicion right from the time that the lady told him that a man knocked over their mail box.

He finally looked away from the door and he began to look around the house. I froze in place and swallowed as his gaze landed on me.

Oh My God, he spotted me already! I exclaimed to myself as he was staring at me with intensity. He slowly walked towards me and scared, I slowly walked back.

With my back against the wall and nowhere to turn to, he reached me, but to my surprise, he only picked up the remote control by the television and he switched it off.

He dropped the remote control and turned around again, without paying any attention to me.

I sighed in relief as I realised he couldn’t see me.

He stopped at the middle of the room and rested his palms on his waist, glancing at the door again.

“Edgar!” He shouted, looking at the corridor leading away from the living room and I moved away from the wall, walking closer.

“Edgar!” He shouted again and I began to hear approaching footsteps. I could sense what it was. It was a wizard.

“Mr. Speranzini, what’s the matter?” He asked and Kyle pointed at the door.

“Miss. Bennett just told me that someone came by saying he had accidentally knocked over our mail box and I don’t feel convenient with that,” Kyle said and Edgar glanced at the door.

“Yes, but no one has come in,” Edgar said, but Kyle hissed and shook his head.

“I told you that we do not take any chances, so I want you to do a magical sweep for any infiltration or cloaking spell,” Kyle instructed and I began to feel even more nervous.

What if the cloaking spell was detected and then they find me.

“Relax,” I heard the cold, icy voice of my dark replica in my head.

Kyle moved aside and Edgar walked to the door. He stopped by the door and turned around to faced the house. There was a small flower vase on the table close to the door and he picked it up. Green waves began to dance around his right hand and I watched as the flower blossomed even more, green vines growing out of them and wrapping around his hand.

That looked familiar. He was a fucking Sagittarius.

More green branches and vines wrapped around him and another sets of vines lifted the vase out of his hand and carefully dropped it back on the table.

I watched his eyes turn green in color and he stretched out his two glowing hands.

“Reverstros Invisique, Reverstros Havenum. Reverstros Invisique, Reverstros Havenum,” he chanted.

I could sense the magical spike in the air and his magic was slowly drifting through the house, unveiling magical layers. It was strange that I could sense it and see it like I was looking at some X-ray scan. I could see the spell traveling slowly and I moved back slowly afraid that it would unveil my presence.

“Jordan, you need to get out of there now,” Darell instructed and I swallowed nervously, looking behind me to see if there was anywhere I could zoom out through.

“Don’t you go anywhere!” My dark replica bellowed at the back of my mind and I felt the urge to listen to him and see what can be done about this.

“Jordan, get out now!” It was Lycian’s voice that echoed out of the earpiece this time and he sounded scared.

I wanted to give into my fear and listen to them so badly, but I also had this overwhelming feeling of trust that me and my dark replica could handle this.

I finally stopped moving and summoned up courage, determining that I wouldn’t leave here till I have confirmed what I came here to

Suddenly I saw the image of my dark replica flash in my mind and I could sense the magic in the air even more strongly.

As the unveiling spell made it’s way towards me, I suddenly felt like the pores in my body had opened up and I began to suck in every bit of magic in the room.

The energy filled me and I felt this great strength in me. Edgar continued the spell and I kept absorbing the magical energy it was releasing. I watched as the green vines and branches began to lose their color and wilt, slowly disappearing into the air.

The vines wrapped around his hands wilted and disappeared next with his eyes reverting to their normal grey color.

He ended the spell and faced Kyle who was staring at him inquisitively.

  “So?” Kyle asked.

  “Nothing. There’s nobody here.”
