Chapter 155

  South Maldoria,

  Garr

I had just four minutes till the contest starts. I walked out of the restaurant and stood by the side of the street.

I stretched out my hands to create a portal when I saw another portal forming near me. I stopped and watched as the portal fully formed, with a woman covering her face with a scarf stepping out of it.

I couldn't help this feeling I had in me that I should avoid her. I was getting this eerie aura from her.

I looked away and was about to continue creating a portal back to the Arena when she walked up to me.

My palms stopped glowing and I faced her.

"Hello," she greeted and stopped right before me. I couldn't see her face clearly because of the scarf she wrapped around her face. I could barely even see her eyes, but I could see their hazel color.

"Hi, how may I help you?" I asked impatiently and looked at my wristwatch again.

"Sorry if I disturbed you, I'm just looking for someone," She said and I stared at her inquiringly. Who??

"I'm looking for a man named Garr," She said and my eyes widened in surprise, but I quickly hid the surprised look on my face.

If the feeling I was getting concerning her was right, I wouldn't want to let her know who I am.

"I heard he teaches in the Academy, do you know where I can find him?" She asked again and I gulped.

"Oh, Proffessor Garr," I said, faking a friendly expression.

"Yes, he taught in the Academy once, but he moved to earth two months ago," I lied and although, I could not see her face, I could see the disappointment in her eyes.

"Oh, I didn't know that," she said and I nodded.

"Yes, he was a proffessor at the academy, but he suddenly quit and went to earth," I said again and she nodded.

"Okay, thanks. I guess I have a long journey to plan then," She said and waved at me, turning around to go.

I stared at her as she walked away, wondering why she was looking for me and why I was getting a bad feeling about her.

I suddenly remembered the contest and looked at my wristwatch to see that I had less than a minute.

I stretched out my hands and wind gathered in the air, turning into purple waves that whirled around. As the portal formed, I looked at the woman walking away again and shrugged. I don't know why she's looking for me, but I'm sure I do not want to know whatever it is.

As the portal fully formed, I dropped my hands and walked into it.

  *

The chamber was very large and I scanned through it until my face stopped on the table with the group of people I just needed to see.

I walked over to them and as I stopped by their table, they looked up at me.

They looked at me for a while like I was a stranger and I sighed.

"I'm Garr Griffin," I said, but they still looked like they didn't know who I was.

I sighed again. It had been long I've been here and no one probably remembered me.

"I'm the brother of Miranda Griffin," I said and the two men sitting at the table suddenly burst into laughter.

  What?

"We knew you before, we're just pulling you leg," the first one said. He was huge and he had really bushy beards and goatee.

I think his name was Grendel.

I nodded with a smile and I pulled the chair he pointed out backward, sitting on it.

"So, Garr, why are you here?" The other one, Franco asked.

"It's about Miranda," I said and they all looked curious.

"I wanted to ask if any you know what happened to her before she showed up injured?" I asked and they glanced at each other.

"We don't know what happened to Miranda," Grendel replied.

"When we and the others all went on the Journey, we all had the places we would be going to planned out, but when we were done and supposed to come back, she told us to leave without her," Franco added.

"It was several months later that she showed up and she was terribly injured," he continued and I sighed.

I wanted to know what Miranda was afraid of exactly and what happened to her. She looked so scared when she came to me and I had to open her a portal because she wanted to quickly see Valerie on earth.

She also told Valerie to find a man named Magnus, but she didn't mention who he was and why. She only mentioned that he could be found in the second plane.

"Okay, do you know anyone named Magnus?" I asked, "did she ever mention that name to you?" I asked.

They shrugged and shook their head.

"No." Grendel replied and I sighed in frustration.

"We weren't able to speak to Miranda for so many months and we were also shocked to hear that she was dead," Grendel added and I nodded, before standing up.

I suddenly stopped again, and sat down again. One last thing.

"Do you either you have any idea of how to break the spell of a locked supernatural part of someone?" I asked, trying not to give too much information or give them any ideas of who I could be talking about.

I don't know what their stand on this issue was so I had to be careful.

"No," they replied together and I sighed in frustration, standing up again.

"But you can check with the librarian and see if there are any old Grimoires with the spell," Franco suggested and I nodded.

"Okay. Thanks for your time," I thanked them before walking away. I walked out of the chamber and adjusted my hood on my head again.

I had no idea why Miranda locked out Valerie's Witch side and hid her true nature from everyone, but the only way to know that is if I could help her unlock it.

Maybe then, we'll find answers on everything Miranda did. I looked at the left and right and decided to take the right path to find the library.
