Garr.
I sighed as I stepped out of the portal into the Arena. I had arrived just on time and the judges were just walking up to their table.
I walked back to the table for the House Masters thinking about the lady I just met. Despite how much I didn't want to know her reason for searching for me, I also couldn't take her off my mind.
Good thing I met her first. Now she's on her way to earth, giving me enough time to find out who she is and what she wants.
Katherine and Parker looked up as I walked up to them and I smiled faintly, pulling my chair backward and sitting down.
I watched as Elder Sirius walked up to an high podium and he welcomed all the guests, parents and students.
South Maldoria's anthem was sang next then the Academy's anthem was sang.
I sat down as the singing of the Anthems was concluded and I intertwined my fingers on my lap.
The first contesting houses was House B and C. Proffessor Parker sitting next to me and Proffessor Millian at the far end of the table stood up and they walked forward. They went to the section meant for their respective House contestants to give them the last sets of instructions in 5 minutes.
After the five minutes were over, the Masters were instructed to accompany their House Contestants to the
Arena's fighting ground.
The Masters shook hands and were asked to leave the fighting ground afterwards. Soon, an Elder Wizard and Elder Witch who would give the contestants instructions walked into the fighting ground and I watched as Sirius activated the protection spell.
It was a spell used to surround the fighting ground so that anything done there wouldn't affect the others outside. Even if there were random firing of spells, it won't go past the invisible wall of the protection spell.
The first round of the contest was all about concentration and endurance.
There were five contestants on both parties and the Elder Mages created three ball magical elements to float before all the contestants; Fire, Water, Wind.
As soon as they hear someone strike the bell, he would release control of the elements and each contestant was to sustain thr three balls of magical elements before them.
The last three people to survive in both parties would move on to the next round.
I watched as 30 elemental balls created by the Elder Mages formed in the air; three floating before each of the ten contestants.
The Elder Mages kept sustaining the elements when the countdown to the ringing of the bell began.
As soon as the bell struck, the Elder Mages stepped backward and each of the contestants were struggling to sustain the elements before them.
It was not an easy task to sustain the magic powering different spells at the same time. At least not for young Mages.
It required concentration, mastery at filtering magic, and most importantly, a powerful, enduring mind.
I looked at all ten contestants closely and so far, they were all still maintaining their magical elements. Some of them were already beginning to sweat and I could see the magical intensity of the elements fading in and out.
I saw as the fire ball of a female contestant in House Aries died down, leaving just her water and air elements. Fire elements was harder to control anyway.
Loosing control of one elements meant she had lost so she let go of the other elements and stepped away.
The other contestants countinued struggling to maintain their elements and a male contestant form House
Capricorn also lost control of his Fire ball. He let go of the other elements too and stepped away.
I focused on the other students again and noticed that two of the contestants didn't seem to be struggling with their magical elements.
A female contestant in House Aries and a male contestant in House Capricorn. I looked at their faces closely and realized that I recognized them.
It was the Harvey twins. They weren't ordinary Mages. They were Bleeders, which means that no matter how long this goes on, they would be able to sustain the elements. All they had to do was absorb the magic from the elements, release it back into them, and keep on doing that.
Bleeders were a variant caused by Vampire and Mage parents. There were several of them. There are Reapers caused by the same thing, Lunar Mages caused by Werewolf and Magician parents, and several others.
I watched as another contestant from House Aries lost control of his Fire ball and almost immediately, another contestant from House Capricorn lost control of her wind element.
They both stepped away and the remaining contestants were finally asked to let go of their elements.
The protection spell was dropped and the four contestants who had lost were made to leave the fighting ground.
The next round of the contest was all about showing the best trick in your magical book and the judges will rank them based on how good they are. Two people will be eliminated in this round.
The protection was put back up and each of the contestants were made to arrange themselves in the order that they would come out to perform.
The first one, a contestant from House Aries was called out and just as he stretched out his hands, the huge bell in the Arena was struck loudly.
Immediately, Everywhere began to shake and a strong wind storm raged through the Arena. I stood up and held on to the table as I struggled to maintain balance.
What the hell was that?? I asked as everything calmed down
Almost immediately, the bell was struck again and the ground shook, a strong wind storm once again throwing away everything on it's part.
I looked up to check the bell and saw that no one was there. No one was ringing it.
The bell struck again and now people began to panic as the storm randomly threw them away.
Someone casted a dark spell on the bell.
