Jordan.
I tapped my foot against the floor of the car to the beat of the music playing in the car.
I watched as Lycian took one hand off the steering and he leaned forward to reduce the volume of the music..
I faced him and he shrugged.
"So tell me, since when did your visits to that mental world start?" Lycian asked and I looked away, knowing that he didn't feel happy that I didn't tell him about it before I was forced to reveal the information.
"Lycian, I'm sorry, but......"
"Jordan, since when did it start?" Lycian asked. I breathed and faced him.
"It started shortly our encounter with the Elder Wizard and Nate," I said and Lycian sighed in disappointment.
"Lycian, I'm sorry, I just it was only a temporary effect of the digging into my mind and I only found out about my Reaper side during the mission with Sanctum," I stated and Lycian remained silent and without even looking at me, he continued driving.
"Lycian, I'm sorry, I know I should have told you, but I didn't want to get you worried," I said and sighed, leaning into the chair.
"If I knew anything about the Reaper since then, I would have told you when I had the chance," I added.
"Oh, how do you explain me not being able to read your thoughts far before the mission with Sanctum!"
Lycian suddenly yelled, catching me off guard.
I looked at him in surprise and scoffed. Really??
"Oh. I get it now," I said and faced him, but he refused to make an eye contact and his attention remained on the road.
"Is that what all this is about?" I asked and he kept driving.
"Lycian, you're annoyed because you haven't been able to see what's going on inside my mind isn't it?" I asked and Lycian remained silent for a while, before sudden hitting his palm on the steering, accidentally activating the horn.
He sighed and finally faced me.
"I know," he said, sounding disappointed with himself.
"I've just been used to this sense of security I have when I can read the mind of others," Lycian said.
I leaned closer and placed my mind on his shoulder.
"But I wasn't the one doing it. He was doing it to protect his identity until he could finally break through, and Lycian, you don't need to know what is going on in my mind before you know that my love for you will never falter," I said and Lycian stared at me before quickly looking back at the road to avoid colliding into a car.
He faced me again and asked, "Can he see and hear me?"
I nodded in affirmation, "yes, he sees and hears everything that happens," I replied and Lycian nodded, facing the road again.
He faced me again and stared for a while before asking, "Jordan, does he..................feel the same way?"
I nodded. "Yes, he feels everything I do three times stronger including hate, rage, and love," I said and
Lycian nodded. I looked up to see that we were close to the store on the map.
"Pull over at that corner," I pointed at the parking space at the front of the store where we could get baby provisions.
Lycian slowly pulled over and brought the car to a halt before the store. I took out my phone to see the list
Valerie had sent before climbing down from the car.
Lycian climbed down too and we both walked into the store. I looked around and saw that there were many stuff available so I assumed that'll we'll have more luck finding the things we need here than the previous store.
I and Lycian were looking around randomly so one of the store attendants walked up to us.
"Hello, thanks for coming. What do you need please?" She asked with a smile. I smiled and switched my phone back on, showing the list to her.
She looked at it briefly and smiled, "we have everything there, follow me please," she said and I nodded.
She took a cart and she moved is round the store, showing us the things on the list and putting it into the cart.
After we had gotten everything on the list given to us by Valerie, we finally walked to the counter. I watched as the prices of our purchases were calculated.
"That man," Lycian suddenly said and I was about to turn around to check who it was, but he stopped me.
"No, don't let him notice you looking at me," Lycian whispered quietly.
I cautiously looked over my shoulder to see a man standing across from the store and pretending to be looking at items on the shelf.
"I saw that man at the previous store we visited us and I just caught him monitoring us," Lycian said and I could also see that the man seemed suspicious.
"I've never seen him before. What does he want?" I asked and Lycian shrugged.
"Maybe the question should be who sent him?" Lycian asked.
"Done," the attendant said to draw out attention and we faced her.
"How much?" Lycian asked and picked the polyethylene bag the items had been packed into.
"1500 dollars," she replied and Lycian nodded. He handed the bag to me before reaching into his pocket and taking out his credit card and giving it to the attendant.
I looked over my shoulder and saw that the man was still there and still looking at the same section of the same shelf.
Not really a smart spy.
As Lycian was given his credit card back, the two of us remained facing the counter and we looked at each other.
"If he's following us, we need to find out who sent him and why so let's pretend as if we haven't seen him," I said and Lycian nodded, smiling.
