Chapter 167

  Jordan.

I looked over my shoulder and saw that the man was still there and still looking at the same section of the same shelf.

  Not really a smart spy.

As Lycian was given his credit card back, the two of us remained facing the counter and we looked at each other.

"If he's following us, we need to find out who sent him and why so let's pretend as if we haven't seen him," I said and Lycian nodded, smiling.

We both turned around at the same time and the man suddenly looked so focus on the shelf, assessing the products as we approached. I walked at his side of the path and as I got to him, I intentionally let the bag I was carrying hit him.

"Oh. I'm so sorry," I said, pretending that was a mistake.

  He smiled, "it's okay."

I nodded with a smile and kept walking. That was all the time I needed to study his face properly, but I still couldn't recognize him.

"Did you do it?" I asked quietly as we walked out of the store.

I could sense that the man was a Vampire so I was absorbing the magic his ears were sending out to listen in on us.

When we were approaching him, I briefly opened my mind to Lycian with the help of the Reaper and I told him to use that chance to read the man's mind and find out what he wants.

"I did, but I couldn't read his mind," Lycian said and I nodded. If the man had come prepared for that, it must be someone who knows us well enough to know that Lycian can read minds.

I opened the backseat of the car and I put the bag in before climbing in at the front. Lycian started the car and he drove us unto the road. I looked through the side mirrors to see that the man had also gotten into a small Lexus and he was following us from a distance.

"Keep driving, there's a turn up ahead," I said and Lycian nodded, he pulled the gear and drove at average speed down the road. He slowed down as we got to a T-junction and he drove into the road on the left.

Immediately, I opened the door and zoomed out of the car, hiding behind a building. Lycian kept driving while I watched as the man following us also drove into this road.

Lycian slowly pulled up by a house and he climbed out of the car, slamming the door shut. I watched the man also stop his car and he walked out of his car, his gaze fixated on Lycian.

Lycian took out his phone from his pocket and leaned on the car, pretending to be something on his phone as the man slowly snuck up to him.

As soon as the man got close to Lycian, I immediately zoomed forward and I struck the man on his head from the back with my clenched fists.

He groaned in pain and turned around to face me, but I immediately grabbed his hand. My palms turned red and he groaned in pain as I sucked the life out of him.

I didn't intend to kill him, so I let him go as he became weak and Lycian quickly stabbed in the neck with a silver syringe.

I grabbed him as he almost fell to the ground and I looked around and to see if anyone was looking. I opened the back seat of the car and pushed him inside before shutting the door. I and Lycian climbed back into the car and Lycian started the car, driving back to the road we had come from.

"What do we do?" I asked and looked at the Vampire seating unconsciously at the back of the car.

"There's an abandoned Crescent Consolidated factory around the corner. I can take him there so we interrogate him," Lycian said and I nodded.

I sighed and leaned into the chair, looking out the window. I heard my phone beep and I took it out of my pocket, unlocking it.

I looked at the notification bar and saw that it was a message from Valerie.

Valerie: Hey, were you able to get the things on the list.

I looked at the bag at the back of the car and looked back at the phone.

Jordan: Yeah we did, we'll be back in an hour.

I replied since we still had to deal with the Vampire following us around.

  Valerie: An Hr?!

Jordan: Yes, the car had a fault and we are a mechanic's shop.

  Valerie: Fine

Valerie; Jordan, I tried Jenna's old number, but it's not working.

Jordan: Yes, she deactivated it. I'll send you the new one.

  Valerie: Oh. Okay.

I quickly left and went to my contact list to pull up Jenna's number. I copied it and pasted it, sending it to Valerie.

Valerie: Alright. Don't take too long.

I put the phone back in my pocket and I looked up as the car slowed down and Lycian stopped the car.

I saw that we were packed before an old building that was quiet and locked away behind a gate with a warning sign against trespassing.

Lycian got out of the car and I did too. I opened the back seat and I pulled the Vampire out of the car.

I pulled him as I followed Lycian to the gate and we stopped. Lycian looked at the huge lock on the gate and he faced me.

"I don't have the keys," he said before looking at the padlock again. He grabbed the padlock and tried to break it in his grip, but it was too strong.

"Here," I said and handed him the Vampire to hold. I grabbed the padlock and groaned as I squeezed in between my palm. I finally heard the lock give way and I opened the gate. We dragged the man into the building and finally let go of him, causing him to fall to the floor.

Let's find out what he really wants.
