I put the phone back in my pocket and I looked up as the car slowed down and Lycian stopped the car.
I saw that we were packed before an old building that was quiet and locked away behind a gate with a warning sign against trespassing.
Lycian got out of the car and I did too. I opened the back seat and I pulled the Vampire out of the car.
I pulled him as I followed Lycian to the gate and we stopped. Lycian looked at the huge lock on the gate and he faced me.
"I don't have the keys," he said before looking at the padlock again. He grabbed the padlock and tried to break it in his grip, but it was too strong.
"Here," I said and handed him the Vampire to hold. I grabbed the padlock and groaned as I squeezed in between my palm. I finally heard the lock give way and I opened the gate. We dragged the man into the building and finally let go of him, causing him to fall to the floor.
Let's find out what he really wants.
I bent down to the man and adjusted him so he was sitting on the floor with his back against the wall.
"Valerie is expecting us in an hour, we need to wake him up," I said, studying the man's fs e and thinking of how I'd wake him up quickly.
That silver shot is normally supposed to knock a Vampire out for 2-3 hrs, but we need him to wake up quickly so we can get on with questioning him.
I grabbed his hand hoping that trying to suck the posoining out of him would work. As I thought, my palms glowed red and I groaned in pain as my body absorbed the poisoning. I gasped and quickly took my hands off him.
I zoomed away quickly and flung my hand, releasing the poisoning into the air.
I breathed in deeply as soon as it was out of my system and soon I recovered back. I zoomed back to the room where the Vampire and Lycian were and watched as the Vampire began to stir back to consciousness.
He opened his eyes slowly and he looked around, his gaze stopping on the both of us.
He looked shocked at first, then he sighed loudly.
"Why were you following us?" I asked, glaring at him, but he didn't blink a bit and he glared back at me.
"I don't know what you're talking about," he said and I scoffed.
"Oh come, we saw you watching us at the first baby store and you were also at the second one. You were also following our car," I said and if I didn't know better, I would think he totally knew nothing about what I was saying by the expression on his face.
"b....baby store?.......Oh. I remember you now! You bumped into me at that Baby Supply Store!" He exclaimed in surprise.
"Wait. First store? Are you talking about Kute Kids Store. I went there first and couldn't find the things I needed, but I never saw you two," he continued his pretence and I scoffed.
Oh Great! He's a good actor, but a dumb spy.
"Lycian-" I faced Lycian and nodded. Lycian moved forward and he placed his hands on the man's head.
I watched them closely, curious to hear what he'd find. Lycian took his hand off the man's head and faced me, shaking his head.
For fuck's sake!
"I can't read his mind. It's all blank," Lycian said and I sighed, staring at the man.
"You don't know anything, but you protected your mind hungh?" I rested my palms on my waist.
"My wife's a witch. She did that for me," he said with the most honest look I've ever seen. He was really a trained liar.
"Okay, let's see if we can do something about that spell," I said and I moved closer. I placed my palm on his head and they glowed in a red color as I siphoned the magic of the protection spell away.
He groaned and gasped as I finally took my hands of him and I faced Lycian, nodding him to give it a try again.
Lycian focused on the man as he read the information he needed from the man's mind.
"Blood," Lycian said and faced me.
"He's salivating blood and that's the only thing I can read from his mind. Unless he's thinking about what he's here for, I can't read it," Lycian said and I sighed.
"If you really have nothing to hide, why push a dominant thought to the surface?" I asked and the man shrugged.
"Maybe, I'm just starving," he said.
I sighed and bent down to him. I put my hand into his pocket and found a phone. I took it out and switched
it on.
I grabbed his hand and forcefully tried his fingers on the fingerprint lock. His right index finger worked and I stood up straight as the phone got unlocked.
"What are you hiding?" I muttered asI went through the phone. I went to his call logs.
I saw that he has called someone and spoken to the person for a brief 30 seconds. Sounds suspicious.
I sighed as I hesitated before finally dialing the number.
"Lycian, be ready to read his mind at any moment," I thought, opening my mind to Lycian.
Lucian faced me and nodded.
The phone rang for a while before someone finally picked it up and I showed the Vampire the phone.
"Hello," A rough male voice echoed out of the phone and the Vampire glanced at me, his lips quivering.
"Jer?" The voice asked. "Jeremiah, are you there?" The voice asked and the Vampire looked confused about what he should do.
His name is Jeremiah. Never known or met someone with that name in my life, but that's a start.
