Chapter 174

  Katherine

  South Maldoria.

I sighed as the doors of the elevator opened and I stepped out of it.

I closed the Grimoire I was holding and I dropped it in my handbag.

I just had an hectic day of preparing the Pisces House for the upcoming contests. The semi-finals of the annual House contest of the academy had been put on an indefinite postponement.

The guardians and council were all trying to look into what caused the attack at the contest. Until they were certain about what it was about and who cast the dark spell, it wasn't safe to hold the contest.

Casting a dark spell like that and going unnoticed amidst all the powerful people there yesterday means the person responsible is dangerous.

That wasn't the only attack that happened yesterday, I thought as I remembered that Garr had been hexed. I had to leave in a hurry to sort things out with Michael and I had totally forgotten to go check up on him again.

I stopped at the door of my office and glanced at the door of his office. I wasn't sure if I should go and check on him as I understood that it would be hard for me to me around him.

Still, I haven't seen him around today at all, but maybe he was just avoiding me like other times. I placed my palm on my door, but took it off again, gulping and shaking my head.

That hex looked dangerous and he seemed to be in serious pain, the least I can do is to check up on him.

I walked to his office and knocked on his door. I waited for a while, but there was not response. I knocked on the door again, waiting to hear the door click open, but there was nothing.

Maybe he was in a class. He must have probably found some of the powerful guardians to help him nullify the hex.

I turned around to leave, but I stopped again and faced the door. I stared at the door, hesitantly before placing my hand on it.

I took my hand away as I heard the door click open. He had not removed my bio connection to the door.

I placed my hand on the doorknob and slowly twisted the door knob, opening the door.

I saw that the light in his office was on and it was empty. He usually never left his light on.

I looked around and saw that his office was still arranged in the same way it had always been. I really missed him.

I really wished that after everything that happened, we would at least, still be friends, but I also knew that it wouldn't be that easy.

He's not here so he must be in a class or looking for a solution to the hex.

I should probably go now before I get caught, I thought and turned around to leave.

I grabbed the doorknob, but stopped as I felt something. There was a faint magical energy in the air. It meant someone had recently cast a spell here or the caster was powerful.

I would have assumed it was Garr casting spells or portalling his way out of the office, but I could sense the distinctive aura of the magical energy.

It didn't have Garr's magic signature, nor did it feel like natural earth magic. I closed my eyes and took in a deep breath.

The magic felt totally different, but I could feel it was used for a portal spell. More importantly, it felt like the same magic I sensed from the hex on Garr.

If whoever cast that hex on Garr had come here, then maybe the person attacked Garr and took him away in a portal.

These were all speculations, but I felt it in my gut that I was right. I need to go wherever that portal went and even if I'm wrong, I'll just explain to Garr why I did it.

I opened my bag and pulled a Grimoire out of it. My right palm glowed and I pointed it at the Grimoire.

The Grimoire immediately began to flip open on it's own and it finally stopped on it's own.

I looked at the spells written on the page and began to chant.

"Moticus Traciterum Ejecarite. Moticus Traciterum Ejecarite," I chanted and violet waves flowed out of my body, whirling in the air to form a portal.

As the portal fully formed, I gasped and the Grimoire fell to the floor. The spell used to create the original portal was powerful and dangerous.

Replicating it required a lot of my energy so I hope that this is worth it. I sighed and breathed deeply before walking into the portal.

I walked out of my class and twisted my neck. I was so tired. I tucked a loose strand of my hair behind my hair and I walked towards an elevator. Before the doors could close, I stopped it with my hands and the doors opened up.

I saw that it was Garr in the elevator and I smiled.

"Just the man that I needed to see right now," I said and I got into the elevator.

The doors closed and the elevator began to move.

"Hmph, I missed you too," Garr smiled and moved closer to me, kissing me. I kissed him back and he placed his hand at the back of my head.

We suddenly broke the case as the elevator dung and the doors opened. We stepped out and Garr held my hand in his, smiling. As we walked down the corridor, we suddenly stopped as we heard someone scream.

"What was that??" Garr asked and we both glanced at each other before running in the direction where the sound came from.

I saw a group of students standing around a girl on the floor and I moved closer. She was convulsing on the floor and her eyes had completely turned white.

I realized what it was immediately.

  Magical Epilepy
