CHAPTER 234

  Three Years Later. Today.

  Karen.

I panted as I jumped out of the portal. I bent down instinctively, an sharp icicle that fired out of the portal passing over my head. I turned around immediately and I snapped my fingers, closing the portal before anything else could come through.

I sighed and looked around. Okay. I know where I am. I need to call Raphael, but I left my phone in my car.

I looked up and saw a phone booth near a gas station nearby and I walked towards it with my palms rested on my waist.

How the hell were they here? I thought we took care of them so how are alive and walking. If they were back then they would definitely want to continue their original mission. I have to do something about it. I finally got to the phone booth and I walked in.

  I need a coin.

I sighed, realizing that I didn't have any money on me since I left my purse in my car. I looked around and saw a man walking three dogs pass by me.

I got out of the phone booth and I walked towards the man.

"Hi," I said and the man looked sideways to face me. He was a blonde that looked like he was in his late fifties.

"Sorry, but I need your help," I said with a smile. I moved back a bit as the dogs began to bark loudly at me. They could obviously sense what I was.

"Yes, how?" He asked with a bit of inpatience in his voice.

"I really need to make a call and I don't have only paper notes," I said, pointing at the phone booth in the distance.

"Oh." He said and he looked at his pocket before looking up again and he stretched out one of the dog leashes to me. The dog began to bark even louder, wagging it's tail at me.

The man looked at the dogs with a faint smile and he faced me again, suspicion flickering in his eyes for a split second.

I took the leash from him and he used his free hand to reach into his pocket. He took out a penny and he handed it to me with a smile.

"Thanks," I took the coin from him and handed the dog leash back to him.

"You're welcome," he said and I nodded before walking back to the phone booth. I put the penny in and hurriedly dialed Raphael's number.

The line rang for a while and he picked up the call.

"Raphael, it's me Karen," I said quickly.

"What happened. What number is this?" He asked and I gulped.

"I'll explain later, Raphael, you need to go two things quickly and it is super important," I said in one breath.

  "Okay?"

"Yes, First, get Lily and your kids to leave the pack immediately and go somewhere safe," I said and there was silence on the line for a while.

"What?! Why?!" Raphael sounded so surprised.

"I'll explain later. Do that and get into a car with Draco. I'll open a portal in the forest path and you need to drive into it," I said and he remained silent for a while again.

"Alright. I'll see you in 10 minutes."

  ***

I stretched out my hands and continued to make the golden portal that was forming in the air larger and larger. The portal was fully formed, but I continued building the portal till it was mature so I could see the other end of the portal.

That was the normal way of creating a portal, but it takes too much energy so Mages like cutting it short.

I could see a car driving towards the forest path at the other end of the portal and as the car got closer, I moved out of the way.

Finally, I watched as the car drove out of the portal and as it was completely out, I dropped my hands and the portal closed.

The car stopped moving and I looked at the window at the front roll down.

I quickly walked towards the car and I looked in too see Draco sitting at the back.

"Mom," Draco called me in excitement and I smiled at him.

I opened the door of the backseat and I climbed in, sitting next to Draco.

"Hey," I leaned towards Draco with a smile and I kissed him on the forehead.

"How are you?" I asked and he smiled.

  "Fine."

"Aunt Lily bought me a new Superfriend Batmobile," Draco said excitedly.

"What happened to the one that I bought for you?" I asked and Draco grinned widely, looking away.

"He burnt it with a fire spell," Raphael replied and Draco immediately covered his face with his palms.

"It was a mistake. I didn't do it on purpose," Draco said with his voice sounding muffled because of his palms.

"But you took off your power dampening wristwatch," I said and took his palms off his face.

"James and Louis were doing a speed race and I wanted to join them so I took it off to use my speed," Draco said quickly and he pouted.

"Alright." I sighed. I looked out of the window and I saw a red spark in the air.

"Raphael, drive now!" I shouted loudly and Raphael immediately started the car engine, driving off.

I looked back to make sure that we weren't being followed and I leaned into the chair, sighing..

"I was supposed to have a meeting with other Alphas of Washington Packs so do you mind telling me what happened?" Raphael asked..

"It's the Five. They're back," I said and Raphael turned around to face me with a shocked expression.

  "What?? How?!" He asked.

"I don't know, but they attacked me earlier."

"Oh My God! We need to warn Stella and Lucas," Raphael said and I nodded.

"That's not the only shocking thing I've discovered today," I said, remembering my encounter with Kaden earlier.

  "What else?" Raphael asked.

  "I saw Kaden, He's Alive."

  Karen.

I looked out of the window and I saw a red spark in the air.

"Raphael, drive now!" I shouted loudly and Raphael immediately started the car engine, driving off.

"That's not the only shocking thing I've discovered today," I said, remembering my encounter with Kaden earlier.

  "What else?" Raphael asked.

"I saw Kaden, He's Alive," I said and Raphael looked over his shoulder to face me with shock in his eyes.

  "What?!" He asked in exclamation.

"Yes, I saw Kaden today, at least someone that looks exactly like him," I said, sighing.

"What do you mean?" Raphael asked.

"He doesn't know who I am Raphael, and he's human," I replied in frustration. Since The Five attacked us on the bridge in the Chamber Chetum and when Kaden was shot in the heart, we never got to see Kaden's body since he fell into that dark hollow and the Chamber was also erased.

  "Human?"

"Are you sure that it was Kaden?" Raphael asked and I didn't know what reply to give him.

He looked exactly like Kaden, his name was Kaden, but he was human and he didn't remember me.

"I don't know what to think anymore," I said and I looked at the back of the car to make sure that we weren't being followed.

"You can stop the car now we have to go to Stella and Lucas," I said and Raphael slowly brought the car to a halt.

I quickly opened the door of the car and I climbed down.

"Mom are you leaving?" Draco asked and I shook my head.

"No, I'm just going to create a very big portal so we can reach where we are going faster," I replied

"I want to learn how to create a portal too," he said excitedly and I smiled.

"When you're all grown up you'll be able to create a portal just like me. For now keep your wristwatch on," I said before closing the door.

As Draco grew up, his powers began to grow and become too much for him to handle. He burnt down the pack mansion by mistake when he was barely 2 years old so I had Garr help me create something that would dampen his powers.

I walked to the front of the car and stretched out my glowing hands to create a portal. The portal keep growing bigger and bigger. The portal was fully formed, but I continued building the portal till it was mature so I could see the other end of the portal.

I finally lowered my hands and I walked back to the car, climbing in.

I looked back again and I saw red sparks forming in the air.

"Raphael, go now!" I shouted quickly as the sparks began to grow bigger, cutting a space in the air.

Just as the spark burst into a wide space in the air, Raphael pulled the gear as he started the car and he swiftly drove into the portal.

  ***

I looked at both side of the bridge as I noticed black clouds fill every side beneath the bridge.

The black clouds were everywhere and I could no longer see the red rocky bottom of the bridge.

I began to feel strange as I ran. I could no longer run at Vampire speed and I found myself running at a regular human speed.

It was not that I couldn't feel my Vampire all supernatural site, this was different. It feels as if I was being forcefully slowed down.

I looked at the black clouds beneath the bridge again and knew that it was probably the reason for that. Everyone else too slowed down too but we kept running nonetheless.

Out of nowhere I saw an arrow wheeze past me and I gasped as I saw the arrow hit Kaden in the chest from behind.

Kaden stopped running immediately, freezing in place. Almost immediately another arrow I mean hit Kaden in the chest again from behind.

I stopped running instantly and I watched as the arrow suddenly exploded in Kaden chest..

  "Kaden!!!!!!" I screamed

The force threw Kaden off his feet immediately and I watched as he got flung off the flung off the bridge.

He also lost grip of Draco and the both of them fell from the bridge. Before Draco could disappear into the darkness beneath the bridge, a small red ray of light appeared under him.

He fell into the of light and I turned around to see Draco in Mor's hand. I also briefly looked back at Kaden who was falling into the dark with two arrows in his heart.

I was so distraught. I didn't know what to think. I was scared, sad, hurt an feeling several emotions at the same time.

"Till we meet again," Mor said with a devilish grin.

"Draco!" I screamed and I ran towards them, but before I could get to them, a bright blinding light enveloped them and by the time the light dimmed, they had disappeared.

  "No. No. No. No. Noooooooooooooooooooo!"

  ***

  Karen.

The car finally drove out of the portal and came to an halt at the other side. We were in the compound of the mansion Stella and Lucas moved to after leaving the Moon Edge pack.

I looked down and saw that everywhere was quiet.

I stopped moving as I felt the air freezing.

"It's so cold," Draco said and I nodded. The cold felt strange as the sun was still shining in the sky and it wasn't even close to Winter. Thr temperature kept dropping every second and I knew that it was not normal.

I closed my eyes as I tried to detect what could be the cause of the strange weather.

My eyes suddenly shot open as I sensed the magic of The Five.

I looked sideways as I also sensed three familiar presence behind the black gate; Stella, Lucas, and Melissa.

I quickly opened the door of the car and climbed down. My hands began to glow in a bright golden color and I fired a blast at the gate.

"Karen, what are you doing?" Raphael asked and I looked over my shoulder to face him.

"They are behind the gate and the ice elemental is here," I replied and faced the gate again.

I found another blast at the gate, and the third time I fired a blast, the gate flung open and I saw Stella and Lucas standing there with Melissa being carried by Lucas.

The golden light of the blast must have blinded them so they covered their faces for a while before the light dimmed.

"hurry up, we need to leave!" I said and Stella smiled. She and Lucas immediately running out to meet us.

I pointed at the car parked by the side with Raphael and Draco sitting in it.

They quickly ran to the car and Lucas opened the door to the back seat, he and Stella sitting next to Draco and Lucas carrying Melissa on his laps.

"Uncle Lucas! Aunt Stella!" Draco exclaimed in excitement and Stella smiled at him before looking out of the car window.

I walked to the front of the car and I stretched out my glowing hands, a very large portal forming in the air till I could see the other end of the portal.

I finally dropped my hands and as Raphael started the car, I climbed in and Raphael swiftly drove into the portal.

  ***

I drove slowly into the forest and as I reached the border, two guards walked up to me and I came to a slow halt.

I whirled down the window and looked out. I had been gone for long, but sure Vampires lived long and had good memories.

  They still remembered me.

“Miss. Valerie, we’re glad to see you,” One of them said with a smile and I returned the smile, regarding them with a nod.

“Thank you.” I whirled the windows back down and drove into the Coven.

I kept glancing around as I drove observing the environment. It was more improved and it has gone through so many changes Since I soon reached my dad’s house and as I pulled over by the door, the front door of the building opened.

Of course, they must have sensed me coming already metres away. I retrieved the keys from the car engine and opened the door by my side, climbing down.

I put the keys in the pocket of my jacket and looked up to see my father looking at me with a smile.

I returned the smile and walked towards him when the door opened again and someone else stepped out. It was Jordan.

The smile on my face disappeared immediately as I saw the indifferent look he gave me.

It’s not my fault I wanted to live a normal life and moreover, it was already getting too dangerous as Vampires in the Coven kept disappearing.

“Valerie, I’m so happy to see you,” my father, Darius said with a smile and I nodded.

“I’m sorry I couldn’t come to see you earlier,” I apologized. Truly, I got carried away with my life, my job, and my friends that I hardly came to see him.

“Where’s mom?” I asked and he nodded before gesturing towards the door.

“Jordan.” I gave Jordan one last glance and nodded before walking into the building

  ***.

I bent to the front and I nearly hit my head on the front window of the car as we drove out of the portal and came to a rapid halt.

Third time, driving a car through a portal today and it was one hell of a bumpy ride.

"Where are we?" Stella asked and I looked outside the window.

I didn't know where to go so I opened a random portal. Not a random portal to anywhere I didn't know, but a random portal to somewhere safe I've been before.

I took a look around and I realised where we were. We were close to the border of my dad's Vampire Coven.

"We are close to my dad's coven," I said.

"We have to leave here now, we can't stay," I said. Now that The Five were somehow walking on their feet, and coming after us, I can't afford seeking refuge here because the only thing that will come out of it is causing trouble for the entire coven.

"So where do we go now?" Raphael asked and I remained silent for a while trying to think of where we could go to.

Remembering the portal memory I just had, I suddenly haf an idea where we could stay.

"Jordan's house. We can go to Jordan's house."
