Chapter 24

  LADY DREAMER

Camilla knows she is sleeping but she can't bring herself out of the beautiful dream she is in. Ethan is right in front of her. They are in a world where she is not a thief. She is a normal girl and her parents are alive. The color is different. Everything is perfect and when she realized that, she stopped fighting the pull; because she knew then that it was only a dream and dreams never come true.

She is in a garden, seating on a blanket with a basket of fruits, every kind of fruit she has always imagined eating someday with her father. But this dream is reversed. It isn't her daddy or any of her parents, it is Ethan. His handsome face is staring at her like she is the most precious thing in the world.

Since this is a dream, then I can do whatever I want —she says to herself.

She dares to place her palm on his cheek and he leans into her, his eyes glowing in the meek afternoon sun. It is like a scene in a romantic movie and she is in it. The love of her life is right in front of her. She welcomed the bright smile that threatened the intensity of the sun above them.

"Why are you smiling so much my love?" Ethan asks her and she blushes so deeply, she is a shade of red.

"I am not smiling," she lies, hiding her face with her hands.

This dream is better than she had ever anticipated. Ethan loves her!

Ethan gently pulls her hands away, shaking his head. "Don't hide your beautiful face away from me, it breaks my heart, " he whispers pulling her closer.

Camilla bats her eyes shyly as Ethan pulls her close enough to breathe in the same air she is taking. "I want you so bad, Camilla Louisa," he whispers again making butterflies fly all over in her stomach. She feels like she will melt away at the heat of love that burns her skin.

She bites her bottom lips in excitement not knowing the right words to say to him.

"Isshhh, when you do that, you kill me," Ethan says clutching his chest and smiling deeply at her.

Camilla releases a gentle laugh pushing his hands away from his chest and he holds her hands. The two of them fall back into the blanket they sat on and their eyes lock together. In that instance, Camilla wishes this dream... This strange dream, wherever it came from, will never end. That it will keep going on, teasing her insides, making her believe she could have a world where anything she wanted could happen.

Unable to control the emotions and tensions that hover above them, Ethan gently pulls her jaw. They are so close to one another, she feels his breath on her face. Shyly she peeks up into his face and his eyes darken at the sight of her soft wet lips. Before she can blink he claims her lips and she closes her eyes.

The natural sound of the place changes the moment she closes her eyes. She no longer hears the birds' chirpings or the soft breeze including the tender caresses of the evening sun.

Camilla closed her eyes to enjoy the kiss Ethan was offering her but rather than feel, his full lips on hers, a different thing moves on her lips. It tastes like cotton and hair!

She flutters her eyes open in panic and finds she had been kissing her pillow.

"Oh, God!" She mumbles pulling the pillow sheet out of her mouth. When did she start dreaming of boys, talk less of Ethan!? Jeez! She must have hit her head really hard.

Why did she even have such a dream?

She steps down from her bed and hurries to the bathroom to brush her teeth. The taste of her pillow sheet and her hair shampoo is strong in her mouth and if she doesn't brush she is going to puke. She brushes her mouth like four times before the taste disappears, washing her face, she leaves the comfort of her room to find something to eat.

The dream still bothers her as she can't understand why she dreamt of him and is in such a position. Yes, the man was beautiful and alluring but he had a sick girlfriend that she was not in the mood of quarreling with. She doesn't want to start dragging a man with a woman like Jessie that would be war. On a normal day, Jessie already hates the fact that Ethan cares for Camilla's well-being too much. She hates that he defends her. She hates all the attention Camilla gets from Ethan. So, how can Camilla even dream of kissing Ethan? That is just crazy.

She places her fingers on her lips and smiles, okay, maybe just one dream isn't so bad.

She shakes her head driving the thoughts away. One dream is bad! Staying in that room is no longer an option. What if she doses off and dreams of Ethan again!

"Shit!" She exclaims hitting her head with her palm. What are you thinking Camilla! —she tells herself.

"Finally gone mad, haven't you?" Jessie says, striding into the kitchen as well.

Why does Jessie have to be in the kitchen too?

"Good morning Jessie," she greets her instead. She isn't in the mood to argue or cause trouble, so she ignores Jessie's comment. She is doing this as a way of cleansing herself. She just dreamt of herself kissing her boyfriend, it's only fair to give the woman some respect in the real world.

"Oh, the street rat as manners today!" Jessie exclaimed placing a hand to her lips.

This is what Camilla gets for being respectful. If Camilla decides to raise her hands on the woman, it will be deadly. She will rather ignore her again.

"Mary, can I please get my breakfast in my room today?"  Camilla says to Mary.

"You wish!" Jessie scoffs. "No one gets their breakfast in bed in this house. You saw what happened to me last night. Peter is like a bulldog! He won't let you!" She says curling a long strand of her hair with her fingers.

"That was you, Jessie. Not me," Camilla says rolling her eyes. It is really difficult to try and be nice to someone like Jessie. Her entire existence begged for disrespectful words. "Mary, please pack my meal, I'll take it myself," Camilla says. She'll rather take her chances in the room than with Jessie in the kitchen. Besides, the worst that could happen is that she will start dreaming of Ethan again, which isn't so bad, considering how handsome and kind he is.

"Oh, miss Camilla, what do I tell sir Peter?" Mary asks getting worried.

"Don't worry about that. I will inform him, myself. I have a massive headache and I can't eat here with all this noise," she says, sneering at Jessie.

Mary smiles discreetly hiding her face from Jessie. "Okay, ma'am, I'll do as you wish!"

"You will what?" Jessie snaps. "Have you all gone mad! No one eats in their rooms in this house, don't you know that?"

"Look, Jessie, I am sorry you didn't get your way last night but that isn't my problem. It is your very own bad luck." Camilla takes her plate of breakfast from Mary and leaves for her room.

Jessie is just impossible to cope with. Camilla really didn't want to say awful words to her but she left her with no choice.

She gets to her room and positions the food on her bed. She is about to start eating when the door opens slightly, and Mary pops her head in.

"May I come in please?" She says.

"Of course, come in. What's up?" Camilla asks her.

"Actually," Mary begins, dropping her head to the floor. "I can't eat in there, Miss Jessie is making it too hard for me. May I join you?" She says and before Camilla could respond, she quickly adds, "it's okay if you do not want me to. I must be mad to even consider it but I just thought maybe you will-"

"Hey!" Camilla yells and Mary stops talking. "It's okay. I am dying of boredom here anyway. I am glad you decided to come to join me!" She makes space for her on the bed and Mary joins her with a plate of her own.

Mary is much older than Camilla but since Camilla doesn't have anyone else to talk to and Mary is offering her company, why not take it?

The both of them enjoy their meal in silence. Each moaned happily to the sweet taste of the ingredient in their tongue.

"Why do you think Ethan is stuck with Jessie?" Camilla asks as they both relax on the bed.

"Sir was just desperate," Mary says, a distant smile on her face.

"Ethan desperate? For what?" Camilla can't believe someone as handsome as Ethan can actually be desperate about anything. "How can he be desperate. He has everything. He is rich. He is handsome!"

Mary smiles looking at Camilla. There is a spark in Camilla's eyes as she speaks about Ethan. "You think sir Ethan, is handsome?"

"Yes," Camilla says but then she sees the grin on Mary's face and then swallows the rest of her words.

  What is she doing?

"No, I mean. He is good looking but yeah, that's it." She babble and Mary starts laughing.

"I do think he is handsome too, there is nothing wrong in saying that. You don't have to hide anything from me. You are just like my niece. So full of energy and life. Watching you makes me happy."

"Thank you." Camilla starts blushing again and she has to bend her head over to hide it.

"Anyway, I think sir Ethan just wanted someone to keep him company. You know ever since he found you, he has changed a lot." Mary says leaving the bed.

"How?" Camilla asks, pulling her hair behind her.

"Well, he barely goes out to bring in more women..." She trails heading to the door.

"Mary, we are still talking, where are you going?"

"I think I have said too much for today, let me get back to work." She flashes Camilla a smile before disappearing out the door.

So, Ethan used to be desperate about something? —Camilla thinks. This conversation with Mary isn't over yet. She will have to catch the woman again when she is free for more insight.
