THE BLACK HOLE
Everyone in the room is quiet as they all patiently wait for Ethan's verdict. Ethan on the other hand watches Mike's demeanor, the guy has folded into himself and could not look anyone in the eye his secrets were completely exposed. There is no turning back for him. His punishment is inevitable and he knows it.
"Since we have been able to sort out the cause of the problem in the town. It's time we start purging the town from it," Ethan declares, rising from his seat.
"Yes!" The elders and the stakeholders in the meeting chorus, happy they will finally be able to get rid of Mike, their selfish gamma.
"As for the disease, I will call in scientists from the city that can come and clean the water up. They will also help out those in the clinic and see how much damage the silver has done to the rest of the town." Ethan's voice is strong as it booms in the room, bringing joy to the minds of the people present there.
The elders were very happy about the decision Ethan is making; yet one thing remains, what will be the outcome of Mike? What will be his punishment?
As if hearing their internal demands, Ethan opens his mouth again, "As for you Mike, for being selfish and turning a blind eye to the cries of the people you promised to protect, you will be thrown in the black hole till I decide what to do with you!"
There are gasps everywhere as everyone knew what the black hole was. A prison designed specifically for punishing werewolves. No matter how strong a wolf is, once they are thrown into the black hole, they become as weak as a common human on the streets, and end no werewolf prayed to meet.
Mike's eyes grow larger in fear as he starts trembling, intense fear crawling into his insides. This is going to be his end.
"Alpha no! Don't do this me! Don't send me to the hole! You are merciful! Have mercy!" Mike begs sprawling to the ground in tears.
"Did you have mercy on us when our children were dying of hunger!" Lady Zara growls.
"The hole isn't even enough for you, the Alpha is too kind. He should leave you to us, we will tear you into pieces like prey in the night!" Lord Alfred says, watching him with disgust.
"Please! I am sorry! I never meant for things to turn out this way! I am sorry!" Mike continues crying and begging Ethan and anyone else that cares to listen to his pleas.
Ethan suddenly claps his hands twice and three large soldiers enter the room. Mike falls onto his rump in shock seeing the sizes of the men approaching him. He doesn't stand a chance. The only option will be to run. Even if he knows it is impossible to run, having Ethan there is already an indication. He can't outrun his alpha. Yet, he still tries. Mike tries to run but it is too late, the large men bundle him up in their arms like he is nothing but a frail paper.
"No! Sandra! Help!" He screams, fighting and struggling for his freedom. He looks to Sandra for help but she takes her face away from him. The two of them surely have history but Ethan decides to let it slide. Mike is a delusional and selfish man.
"Sandra do something! Do not let them do this to me! Please!" Sandra keeps her eyes focused on the window in front of her. She acts like her ears are not picking up what he is saying. Tears continue pouring down his face as he begs for her to do something. When he sees that she isn't responding, he turns back to Ethan.
"Ethan, please! I still have some of the money! I have the food too! I will do anything! I will change. Please just have mercy! I beg of you!" He begs, continuing his fruitless fight but his efforts are in vain for the men holding him down are like mountains while he is barely an ant trying to move them.
Seeing that his end is near, he tries his last card which is to turn into his wolf form, but Ethan feels it before he even begins to change.
"Down!" Ethan growls using his Alpha voice and the power that emits from his eyes alone is enough to make every werewolf within the region stay put. Mike's change cool down immediately and his body feels like he is someone else controls it.
He finds himself unable to move. He screams and yelps in horror but no one pities him. He has dug his own grave the moment he decided to cheat his people for no reason. The people were starving while he stuffed his house and women with all sorts of good things. Everything, Ethan gives to him for the upkeep of the people, he takes for himself alone. He had only called Ethan because it was starting to look too obvious that something horrible was happening, now he realizes that calling Ethan was his first mistake.
The elders and stakeholders follow behind the guards, watching as their wicked lord is taking to his place of doom. His screams increase as he notices how close they have gotten to the spot. "Noo!" He howls aloud, yet no one comes for his rescue.
The entire town soon joins the parade of elders taking Mike to his doom. Realizing he is finally being punished for his wicked deeds, someone from the crowd picks up a stone and throws it in his direction. As a signal, more debris starts to splatter on Mike's body. His claws sprout out of his fingers but the rest of his body refuses to listen to his command other than Ethan's. There is no way out for him.
Finally, they reach the hole, and unceremoniously, Mike is thrown into the pit of pain, never to be seen again.
The people cheer and rejoice, celebrating the end of their terror. Music blares out from someone's speaker and dancing breaks out on the street. The once colorless and joyless street has become a haven of happiness after so many years. The people didn't know what the next day will bring for them, but they were certain of the present. It is indeed a happy day for them. A day they will tell their children and the ones after them, how their kind and wise Alpha saved them from the hands of their cruel Gamma.
As the dancing is going on, a group of young men, lead themselves to Mike's house. Surely, he must have some things in that house of his. They break down his door and they find bags of food items stored in his basement, some even getting spoilt. How can a person be this wicked and selfish?
"This fool had all of these and people were dying of hunger!" Their leader yells. This is a total injustice and they were more than grateful their Alpha has stopped it.
"Let's take everything out!" The guy growls.
The men tear down Mike's house, compartment by compartment bringing out all the content from the furniture to the money and jewelry. Someone goes in and returns with a large bag of food items. In less than an hour, a large pot of soup is cooking for everyone. Children that Ethan didn't see when he came, come out running and playing.
Does Ethan begin to wonder how heartless Mike must have been to close his ears to even these small kids? If he decided to be harsh and selfish to the older generation, Ethan may have not cared much but children. Innocent children, Mike spent all their allocated allowances and pretend not to have received anything from Ethan. How can a creature be like this?
"Long live Alpha Ethan! Long live Alpha Ethan!" The whole town chant in happiness. Food is shared and the merriment and dancing turn up to a higher notch. The people don't even remember the last time they had a party.
Ethan is also happy for them but something else still ate at the back of his mind. He still has that basement problem to solve including the silver extraction method. He needs to remove the silver from their water as soon as possible, because the longer the water stays contaminated, the more his people will get contaminated and die. Silver is a terrible weapon in the body of a werewolf.
Thinking of all he still has to do for the town, he starts up a game plan. He will need to divide the work properly so that he will have nothing left hanging. Well, he will have to sort things one at a time. He takes out his phone and places a call to one of his scientists.
"Hello, Adam!" Ethan greets.
"Alpha Ethan, what a pleasure to see your call, " the gruff voice of a man answers. "How may I be of service?" He says and Ethan can already imagine the small smile on his face as he is speaking.
"A group of my men has ingested silver, I need you and your team to find a way to extract it out of them, " Ethan briefs the man.
The man stays quiet and Ethan knows he is trying to think up a formula already.
"That will not be very easy but we will try our best." Adam is the best scientist Ethan has ever come across but also very modest. He will never accept to have single-handedly done particular research.
"I believe in you, Adam. I will send you the location." Ethan assures him.
"No problem, anything for my Alpha," Adam says.
Leading a pack of werewolves from different backgrounds is not an easy task but Ethan can pride himself on doing a very good job at it. Some of the members were second-generation werewolves and didn't know the first thing about being a werewolf, which is selflessness. A virtue Mike lacked.
Mike had been selfish and greedy even as a human. He is a third-generation wolf that constantly refuses to learn the way of the wolves. When he got turned into a werewolf, Ethan had picked him up and trained him to be a better wolf. But his true nature had always been paramount. He never changed, till his greed got the better of him.
It pains Ethan to see Mike end up like this. He cared so much about him. He vouched for him in front of everyone. He made the people respect him and place him in high prospects. He made him a gamma, yet Mike was never satisfied. If it were someone else, Ethan would have torn them into tiny pieces with his claws but he couldn't bring himself to do it. That's why he told the guards to throw him in the black hole. Perhaps if he spends a couple of months in the black hole, he will change and turn into a better human.
Ethan slowly goes back to his room, leaving the merriment outside. He needs to plan how they were going to enter that basement and bring out whatever was in it. This town needed to regain its lost glory back and Ethan will not rest until that happens.
