BLUE HOODIE
The coffee cafe across Lisa Maurice's has grown to become Peter's office. He comes in every day sits at his favorite table by the window and just watches. He watches Lisa's movement. He has learned that she leaves the house at exactly two o'clock every day and heads to the city hospital to see a man in a coma. Lucas is yet to give him an update on that man. Aside from that, she returns almost thirty minutes after and stays home. She doesn't leave anymore until the next day.
Peter doesn't believe that's all her schedule she needs to have something else she does for a living, like go to work, earn a living, or anything at all. But all Lisa does is stay home. She hasn't even tried returning to the Estate again and Peter is sure she will try it sooner than he anticipated.
Today, like every other day, he is sitting by his special table and watching.
"Sir, your tea," the waitress says, dropping his tray with a smile.
"Thank you, Stephanie, " he responds. Over the few days he has been coming here, Stephanie has been his only server and he has kind If grown used to her friendliness.
"Is there something else you might need?" She asks her usual parting question.
But as Peter watches her, he gets a feeling he can get a few answers from her instead of waiting for Lucas' updates.
"Stephanie, can you sir for a minute?" He asks gently.
"Sure. May I?" She asks politely, pointing to the chair across from Peter.
Peter waves it to her. "Of course, take it."
She settles herself into the chair and holds her serving tray on her lap.
"I hope, I am not putting you in some kind of difficult situation by asking to do this," Peter says looking intently into her eyes.
"Oh no, my dad owns this place. I don't work that hard. I can seat my butt here all day if I want," she says with a smile.
"Woah, that's cool but you need to work hard for it to keep standing," Peter advises.
Stephanie smiles, "that isn't a problem. So, what do you want to talk to me about?"
Peter heaves a sigh before opening his mouth. "You are a very smart woman, Stephanie. I am sure you have noticed that I come here in search of something," he begins.
"The lady by that window?" Stephanie asks, pointing at the window, Peter is always watching.
"Yes, that lady. Do you know her?" He asks her, hoping she will.
"Lisa or Camilla?" Stephanie retorts.
It is even great that she knows both of them, this way he doesn't have to bother about her giving him to wrong information due to inaccuracy.
"I am interested in Lisa but you can share as much as you know on the both of them. I don't mind."
"They are both friends, they've been here for a long while, but I will advise you to stay away from them. Especially Lisa, ever since she moved in here, she has never tried looking for a job," she says a scowl appearing on her face.
Peter has also noticed that Lisa, never worked. The few days he had been observing her, he saw that she never left the hits unless she went to that hospital. "May she works remotely on something, people do it all the time," Peter shrugs trying to defend Lisa.
"I wish that was the case, but trust me it isn't. Rumor says she is into illegal business. She leaves home very late every night for some activities that fetch her enough money to take care of herself. She is dangerous. Don't mind that innocent face she has," Stephanie warns.
Peter feels a direct cut to his heart but he doesn't give up. Rumors lie all the time. Lisa may be into a professional that doesn't require her to leave the house often. There are many of those out there.
She may be a writer, those types of people hardly leave their houses, —Peter thinks to himself.
"I see you don't believe me but don't say I didn't warn you when it happens," she says, getting up from her seat. "Now, I have to go attend to other things. Do let me know if you need anything else and good luck with getting the mysterious girl, sir!" She says, walking away from him.
Peter is lost in his thoughts. What Stephanie said about Lisa, seem to be close to the truth than he had hoped for. But he can't just write off Lisa as a criminal. If she is, he will have to make it his life work to make her drop it. At least if he can do that, his friend will be very happy wherever he is. He may have not been able to save Damon Maurice but he will help out Lisa Maurice -who he still refers to as Lisa Maur in his head.
His phone rings suddenly ring out and he checks the caller. He groans a bit as his eyes settle on the letters, she had saved herself, Sweet Wolf. He isn't ready to speak to her yet but he has no choice.
"Hello, Sandra!" Peter says as he places the phone to his ears.
"My sweet! How are you?" She chirps happily.
Sandra is his girlfriend. They have been dating for months now and strangely Peter isn't so happy she called him.
"I am fine. Are you ready to listen to me now?" Peter asks her. The last time he spoke to her they had an argument in which he wanted her to come to stay with him In the main packhouse so they can get to know each other well enough but Sandra had refused. He even offered to go to her instead but she refused to. Now that she called, he hope she is ready to pick one of his options.
"My sweet, listen, I will do anything you want. I am so sorry I was so stubborn, I refused to listen," she says, dragging her words purposely.
Peter heaves a sigh of relief, he doesn't want to start an argument with her right now. He is already preoccupied with Lisa and the last thing he needs is for Sandra to have more stress for him.
"I am glad you have seen reasons," Peter whispers.
"Guess what!?" She suddenly squeals happily.
Peter tries to think of what can make her happy and at the same time make him happy too. And only one thing comes to his mind.
"Are you pregnant?" He blurts. They made love about two weeks ago and since she is his mate, the best thing that can happen that will make the both of them happy to the best of his knowledge Is if she is pregnant.
"Hell no!" Sandra cringes. "Sweet, you are such a moment spoiler! I am in your room house right now!" She says with a giggle.
Peter's face drops from the excitement to an indifferent look. "Oh, when did you arrive?"
He had hoped she could be pregnant. That would have been the best news ever! He would have named the child Damon after his human friend.
"Is that all you are going to ask me!" Sandra says and Peter can already imagine her rolling her large eyes. "I just got in and I can't find you home. Where are you, my Sweet?"
"I went out on some business." As he is talking, he looks up at the window where Lisa is and he finds her gazing back at him. Does she know he is here? Or was it someone else? He Flint's his eyes and the light in her room reflects on her golden hair, confirming she is the one -at least there can't be two people with the same hair color in her room.
"I am missing you so much, my sweet. Can you come home soon, like right now?" Sandra is saying on the phone but Peter's attention is no longer on the device in his ear, he is stuck staring at Lisa through the window.
Should he just go engage her in a conversation? Tell her why he is there stalking her, maybe a more direct approach is what he needs. Or perhaps he should still hold on for Lucas to finish with his digging.
"Peter!" Sandra screeches and Peter tunes into her conversation again.
"Huh? I am here with you, Sandra," He responds.
"No, you are not here! You are not even there! Or wherever! I have been talking to myself all along!" She snaps.
"Sandra I have been listening to you-" Peter tries to defend but Sandra is too smart for her good
"Do not dare lie to me. I don't need to ask you what my last sentence before I screamed your name was because I am sure you didn't hear it!" She scolds him. "I am your girlfriend Peter, your mate! I know when you are lying and it breaks my heart. Why are you hurting me? I left everything in town and came here to spend some time with you as you proposed it but you are not even here and you are not listening either!"
Peter feels bad for his behavior. Sandra is right, she deserves his attention more than anything. She is his girlfriend and above all, she is his mate. He shouldn't be caring more about some girl when she is around him like this.
"I am sorry Sandra. You know what? I am coming home right now, do you need anything?" He says gulping down the last of his tea.
Sandra clasps her hands in excitement. "I want that ice cream you love so much and your body!"
Peter smirks. "You naughty girl. I am coming home to you!" He says and she giggles before ending the call.
He signals to the waitress to come with his bill and waits for her. Lisa's matter can wait but Sandra can't. He will need to go home to her right now. His eyes move to the door at the foot of Lisa's building and he catches a blue hoodie slipping through.
The call with Sandra has made him miss the people coming in and out of the building. Hopefully, Sandra is still in there somewhere. He looks to the side, to see if she had come down to head to the hospital as usual but there was no one with golden hair heading that way.
He turns his head back to her apartment and he finds two women staring back at him. Using his wolf abilities he narrows his eyes and catches a sparkle of red hair. Just as his focus turns completely to the window, the new person with the blue hoodie closes the curtains.
Is that Camilla?
